What were the rules before? And what are they now?

I'm really confused by LoG now. So they're not part of LoN, but not Nighthaunt anymore? Still, they get the gravesites etc but have no batallions?

LoG never was part of Nighthaunt. Just because it uses lots of Nighthaunts unit doesn’t make them automatically part of the Nighthaunt allegience.

  2. Well, playing this luxury game at all is a big entitlement issue, but lets not go there and skip this whole entitlement discussion going forward.

My personal opinion with regards to special models (I don’t own any) is that as long as tbey’re not dominating the game and thus ”required” to be competitive with that army, they should be allowed.

  3. The entitlement thing swings both ways. Just because you have a model it doesn’t mean you always get to use it.

It’s all about GW being afraid that 3rd party companies making proxies of models they don’t sell but have rules for. It’s happened in the past.

As far as I know there are no limitations on battalions to specific allegiances other than the keywords of the units in those battalions. Its the same reason people are running "Hedonites Slaanesh Allegiance Depraved Drove"

    Core FAQ:

Q: Some warscroll battalions included in battletomes do not have a faction listed above their title. How do I determine which faction they belong to for the purposes of allegiance abilities?
A: The battalion belongs to all of the factions in that battletome. For example, the warscroll battalions in Battletome: Stormcast Eternals are part of the Stormcast Eternals faction.

    BoC Errata:

Page 85 – Marked by the Decadent Fiend
    Change to:
‘Units from this battalion gain the Slaanesh keyword. In addition, this warscroll battalion is part of the Slaanesh faction and the Beasts of Chaos faction.’

The BoC god battalions have errata to allow them in the god allegience armies.

  5. The Skaven FAQ has an updated question that sounds similar to this. I don’t know what Skitterleap does, but it sounds like some sort of teleporting.

Q: Does a Balewind Vortex with a Skaventide Hero atop it travel with the Hero if they use Skitterleap?
    A: Yes.

That's a good one for the thing about moving. But with my group it's not that it cannot move its that you remove it from the table thus breaking the clause in the balewinds rules. Where it counts as one model for along as its on the battlefield.

Now that could mean as long as its not dispelled or it could be if you remove it to place elsewhere.

I'm of the people that think it can teleport (I'm seraphon player lol)

There’s this FAQ as well, that could be applied to this since wizard + vortex counts as one model/unit.

Q: If a unit leaves the battlefield for whatever reason and comes back, do they lose any bonuses they had from abilities or spells? Also, if they had a ‘once per game’ ability, does it reset?
A: If a unit leaves the battlefield and then returns to
the battlefield, no to both questions. If the models have been slain and are being used as part of a unit that has been added to the army, then yes to both questions.

  7. Here’s a relevant FAQ. This together with the fact that the wizard and the Balewind Vortex counts as one model for rules purposes should be enough to make it clear that a wizard on Balewind Vortex can be teleported with LoSaT.

Q: Some abilities allow you to remove a unit from the battlefield and set it up again, and say that this ‘counts as their move for the movement phase’ (or words to that effect). Do these units count as having made a move for the purposes of any other rules or abilities?
A: No, it simply restricts them from making a move later on.

  8. Yes, set up and being deployed on the battlefield from any reserve (underworlds, sky etc.) are two different things. Usually when you setup reserve units you can choose to put them in a reserve place. The rules about the arrival time refers to when you put them in reserve, the second paragraph refers to when they actually are put on the battlefield.

I would argue that, unless both players find it enjoyable for only one player to be WAAC, then the behavior is inappropriate.

Consideration for your opponent is even in the new GHB! The Principles say something about reminding your opponent of rules they forgot especially when it benefits them. It's somewhere between "Call your mother" and "Don't sleep with your opponent's spouse unless everyone's into that kind of thing".

I really agree, I'm not much into WAAC  when it comes to AoS. And I would consider abusing this to be a really lousy thing to do, at least outside a tournament setting. My comment was a bit brief in that regard, and perhaps a bit unrelatad. However, I think it's GW's job to design a game/write rules that don't create situations like this. It shouldn't (at least in a tournament setting) be left to the players to decide what's appropriate or not, because where do you really draw the line? You have to really on the rules as written, and if they are badly written (which they often are in AoS) they should be rewritten. Compare this to Magic: the Gathering where WotC don't design cards that are "unfun", and if they sometimes do they have banlists that can take care of the situation.

  10. The staff effect doesn’t combine at all with Jaws like a Steel Trap. The Jaws effect isn’t damage as such (mortal wounds aren’t damage) and if it fails the attack it doesn’t deal any damage at all (so the staff effect doesn’t kick in).

  11. Well, if they nerf anything in the allegience abilities, they better boost something else. The summoning rules as they are currently is what makes the faction usable at all (competively that is).

My guess is that they'll introduce at least spell lores to these factions, and maybe some tweaks to make them a bit more competitive while we wait for new BTs.
