  1. Am i the only one not particularly looking forward to Slaanesh's inevitable escape? I find it far more interesting how the Hosts are currently set up - when Slaanesh is free it will just be back to the old status quo (ok plus Horned Rat!) Also we had all that build up about Tzeentchs grand schemes after AllGates, and Nurgles renewed assault across all the Mortal Realms and they havent really gone anywhere have they!
  2. I'd be surprised if we saw a Slaanesh release before January as thats been the Chaos slot for Nurgle and Tzeentch previously. It would be very nice for Moonclan to make an appearance before then, although remember last year there were no battletomes after KOs from may til Nurgle in january! And the year before we had a gap between Sylvaneth in august and Tzeentch in january (albeit with BCR and Bonesplittaz released with no new models right after Sylvaneth). Heres hoping for better pacing this year!
  3. I reckon theyll do blood warrior and tzaangor equivalents for each god eventually, theyre just saving them for the next release - apart from the ancient berserkers its only in the last two years weve finally seen plastic cult marines in 40k (now do plastic aspect warriors PLEASE!)
  4. I find this fascinating, as splitting my old armies and then rebasing and filling them out into playable factions has been by far my favourite part of AoS!
  5. Ah thats the blissful feeling of something being fixed right - its a nice bonus but its not game breaking in the wrong hands any more ?
  6. Does anyone reckon the mortarch of Grief could be Isabella von Carstein, doomed by Nagash to mourn Vlad for eternity as punishment for her, albeit unwilling, service to Nurgle? I mean, she distracted him so rats could blow up his pyramid, and hes not known to be forgiving...
  7. Im finding the trickle of information is great, im reading scores of posts on TGA every day and posting almost daily where before it might be weeks before i read something i want to respond to. New edition teases is basically the Fun Times and i am thoroughly enjoying it!
  8. Those books look like a good way to expand the reach of GWs IP, similar to how Marvel and Star Wars target stuff to a younger audience while their main line is for grown up kids. I see this as one step closer to GW fully realising the value of its IP and getting into the film biz - im sure theyll still sell models tho, like Marvel still sells the odd comic book ?
  9. Battleline only exists in 1 of 3 game modes - id be up for generic battalions but theyd need to give every unit a battlefield role keyword first... which they could do! Its just a big ask i think!
  10. Wow good spot, hopefully this is a sign of the many warscroll updates we can expect with AoS2! My Ironweld and gobbo artillery will be glad to no longer have their crews sniped. While its nice to see new artillery in AoS, i would be more interested if it was for literally any other faction than Siggies. Even just passively collecting them ive amassed over 4k pts im unlikely to play with all of, why would i want to buy more? By contrast, the black coach is oustanding and ill happily replace my old metal one with it, even if i dont go full nighthaunt. I did initially think the NH stuff looked very samey, but the close ups reveal tons of lovely details - great job GW!
  11. I think this is a great move, theres a clear split between these rules and AoS matched play. I absolutely do not want GW to waste resources trying to balance discontinued armies with points and allegiance abilities, but this provides a happy medium for when i want to dabble in old world history in open play. I imagine there will be uproar when they get to TK and or Brets, and i admit i would be a bit uncomfortable if they were to make great plastic kits like the warsphinx or pegasus knights available for a week without adapting them into a new range... we live in interesting times!
  12. Does anyone want my 21 metal executioners, id rather retire them than risk their draichs falling off for the millionth time! I wonder if theyll do a Legends order for plastics (yeah thats brets, TK and forsaken!) Edit: oh and half my Empire army, i did love those knights!
  13. I dont think rules should have any bearing on whether a model remains available - rules can always be made better or worse. Grots are one of several factions which could do with a Dark Eldar style rework from the ground up - the plastic shaman is the only model of good enough quality to keep i think. Moonclan and Spiderfang could get away with a Daughters of Khaine style expansion, while Mork only knows what to do with the former Gnoblars!
  14. Is anyone interested in the Warhammer Legends made to order stuff? I wouldnt mind Lokhir, but i really dont like resin. Is this initiative floating anyones boat?
  15. I'm a-frayed knot - looks like the hangmans noose off that shadespire ghost bloke teaser to me!
  16. So the Idoneth ship thing is an Ethyric Vortex and the rules in the book say both players may place up to one such Vortex. Any bets we'll get a load of generic ones in the upcoming magic supplement (might explain what that Purple Sun thing is)? Be nice for the Balewind to be grouped with these and revised/nerfed to oblivion!
  17. I think the rationale to keep rules and/or points available for every model/faction is at odds with the obsession many GW customers have with 'balance'. Sure in Open/Narrative you can balance sides simply by adding/removing models, but since Allegiance Abilities were added the amount of extra, free rules for factions is becoming even more disproportionate. I think a game using TKs/Brets vs Idoneth, DoK or any of the more recent battletomes is gonna basically suck - the newer factions have access to more artefacts, spells, prayers, rituals, mount special abilities, waaay stronger battle and command traits, and for KO, DoK and Idoneth even more free rules based on your army's city/temple/skyport etc. I think all these extra rules make for very one-sided 'unbalanced' games against armies just using their warscrolls. I see no evidence the discontinued ranges would ever get this kind of rules attention, or even many of the legacy factions, and while sure you can play Open/Narrative or agree not to use Allegiance Abilities, i think Matched play is king, to the extent that it has by far the biggest impact on GWs investment and release strategies. So itd be sensible not to expect any of your models to 'always' have rules, and some to be unplayable sooner rather than later.
  18. I agree. By scrapping the Old World GW gave themselves the creative freedom to design whatever they want whenever they want. But i am sure that certain ranges will be discontinued to allow for this. TK and Bret ranges were removed to make room for stormcasts, bloodbound, fyreslayers, ironjaws, sylvaneth et al. I think whether old stuff has rules and points is largely irrelevant, as the game is being updated so regularly these days that theres no way theyll spend resources keeping every model with current rules in perpetuity. At some point there will be a brand new edition that wipes the slate clean, just like AoS and 40k 8th have done. With the rumoured AoS phase 2, i wonder if theyll implement proper points to the game, instead of the power style points we have now (where a bloke on foot costs the same as the same bloke on a horse...!)?
  19. Do we have a source for that? Cos my view of AoS is some factions will be left behind (ill be amazed to see another serapon book, tho GW did give them basic allegiance abilities...) The culling of the old ranges was brual, not just Brets and TK but stuff like my Empire Knights and Cannons, or Chaos Forsaken. I would not put another cull of outdated factions past GW, even if it was seraphon or pestliens etc.
  20. This is where a countdown timer wouldve been more appropriate ? Now out of the blue its revealed Nagash's big plan appears to be... to raise the dead. Cmon GDubs you can market things better than that! (Last time Nagash returned it was accompanied by the start of the End Times and the promise that they meant it this time - now that was good hype!)
  21. If they do a new starter set they are likely to need to do a total revamp of their getting started range, with Blood n Thunder and Storm of Sigmar equivalents, plus new easy to build sets and getting started magazine. Not impossible, but much bigger than just putting out one new box filled with minis and AoS 2.0 rules. I look forward to the first moan of 'im so fed up of nighthaunt releases, why cant we get some new khorne models' ?
  22. Maybe the ghost army will actually Malignants and tie the stuff with that keyword together? I reckon we're still on GW original plan for AoS, and we know intial design work is done 3 years in advance. Rules work i imagine takes far less time, but i expect even the Idoneth models to have been in the design phase even before AoS was launched...
  23. For Skaven I think Eshin might make an appearance sooner rather than later, as they are getting a fair few background mentions, plus the Deathrunner in Silver Tower. For Seraphon i would not expect them to ever get a new battletome - unless GW majorly changes its approach to AoS (i guess they did update SE, BoK and LoN) and starts spamming out books like in 40k (which incidentally has put me right off 40k, theres no way i can even try and keep up with the release pace). I like the momentum AoS has now, and a new book every other month would be my ideal - but no stupid 8 month gaps between books like the gap between KO and MoN!
  24. Love the Deepkin, this is exactly the sort of creative insanity that shows why GW are #1. Nighthaunt update = bring it on! I like to see smaller factions updated, particularly when their outdated models get a revamp. Magic thing. Ok i like that crazy giant skull cloud thing, but im not keen on more unnecessary layers of rules - keen to see what they come up with tho. New shadespire - hanged ghost looks cool, stormcast wizards (like space marines) manage to be both cool and boring at the same time ? I will be genuinely surprised if there is a new AoS starter set on the cards, Ive not seen any real evidence for this, but happy to be proved wrong. The Legends idea is probably the best way they couldve dealt with discontinued models to keep them out of matched play. Will be interesting to see which models/ranges join them in future (seraphon? Non-primaris marines?)
