  1. Hey, I really appreciate your feedback. You have done a ridiculous amount of work for the Nighthaunt community and the words you wrote before you lost consciousness really matter! If you watched until the end of the video then you probably fell asleep and I feel partially responsible for your condition. But seriously, I hope you get well soon. We'll get the Nighthaunt banner waving again.
  2. I'm trying to be a better player, while not being able to play much. Here is the first video in my semi Vlog about taking Nighthaunt to an event this weekend. https://youtu.be/Hu7GX0YaSqY Who am I top talk about Nighthaunt? No one really, but there is a lot of cool stuff out there and hopefully I can help someone (Anyone!) become a better player!
  3. Exactly. It's ahead of "A Soul to Claim" for me as there is a greater chance of my killing the big guy with Olynder/Kurdoss than being in your mentioned scenerios T5. If the game is close on T5 you might have a decision to make. Score 1, 2 and more for 3 pts or take the 3 pts for Fright or Flight. So, at worse its a even trade whereas there are several situations where you can score 1, 2 and more for 3 pts and also score the Grand Strat.
  4. Don't pay that much attention to me. I make decent battle reports but I'm not that good a player... I'm running: Because I want to be able to score "This One's Mine!" and I'm not afraid of Alpha shooting anymore! Spectral Tether + Spellportal + 30" move Hexwraith screens = lots of threat Both BGR will likely be 4+/5++, regen 4 models/turn
  5. Yeah. The big thing for the Battle Tactics is that my opponent won't be scoring an extra point with a Monster anymore. It really hurt Nighthaunt to be down a point from Ferocious Advance (Run 3 Monsters), Not be able to do Broken Ranks, Bring It Down, or Slay The Warlord for a bonus point. Not even be able to do Monstrous Takeover! We're in a good place. The Battle Tactics are way easier for us compared to before. You're not a true Nighthaunt player until you play the army live. You have to experience the barrel of Monkeys style latching on of model on model on model that happens consistently with literally all of our units every time you move them. And sure, Spirit Hosts are a pain in the ass to assemble, but they are super low maintenance after that...
  6. Hexwraiths are amazing. We should always include at least one unit. We're talking about the bonus point you get for Barge Through Enemy Lines, which Hexwraith don't get.
  7. I haven't dropped Kurdoss yet... The first thing that got cut to make room for the 2x10 Chainrasps was the Spirit Hosts. I also had to find room for a Spirit Torment and a Krulghast. We have so many tools now its impossible to fit in everything you want. Plus I have no idea what direction my opponents lists will go or which battleplans will become standard. Its possible that the 2x10 Chainrasps are the only units in Expert Conquerors. If reducing drops needs to be a thing then it'll be easy. What about the Battle Tactics? What does your T1-5 look like? Grand Strategy?
  8. Great info here people! Here is the list I'm trying to put together for a 1 day tournament in a couple weeks. I don't have 30 Dreadscythes (only 20) so I'll have to try Quicksilver Dead near the end of the Summer. I agree, QSD stocks are a bit up above Scarlet! 12 drops means I very likely won't be choosing the Proving Ground. No worries here as I'll have enough GV's to be anywhere I want. 3x10 BGR in Bounty Hunters for extra damage. I could have easily gone with a blob of 30 and I'm not so sure which is the better option. A blob of 30 BGR has crazy output, with Discorporate, the regen of Oly, ST, and the GoS it's unlikely that it dies and while sure its hard to keep in the KGC bubble it does a lot of work. Hell, even pulling dead models 3" away from the enemy to setup a Rally 2x10 Chainrasps for the above mentioned 3 VP Barge Through Enemy Lines. They are in EC as a bit of a distraction but the bonus is really good and some sneaky plays can be made. Lady O, Kurdoss, ST, GoS, KGC stick together. Hex are super versatile. 3 SH's is probably the max I'll go now and why not put them in the EC too. Battle Tactics: T1 - Against the Odds, Desecrate Their Lands T2 - Barge Through Enemy Lines/Desecrate Their Lands, Gaining Momentum, T3 - Gaining Momentum, An Eye for an Eye, Head to Head, Outmuscle, T4/5 - An Eye for an Eye, Head to Head, Outmuscle, Difficult but still possible BT's: This One's Mine, Death by a Thousand Cuts 3 BT's easily doable in the first 3 turns, and none of them require much from your opponent. T4/5 will give plenty of options. We're in a good place.
  9. Processions with GHB2022 - Pros and Cons Emerald Host Pros: BGR/DSH can go into Bounty Hunters and not be victims. Cons: BGR/DSH don't fight in two ranks because they are not Galletian Veterans. Quicksilver Dead Pros: DSH become Galletian Veterans and fight in two ranks. Cons: DSH become victims of Bounty Hunters. Scarlet Doom Pros: BGR become Galletian Veterans and fight in two ranks. Cons: BGR become victims of Bounty Hunters. Solutions? Krulghast Cruciator can reduce the incoming damage by 1. This will be key if your Battleline are going against Bounty Hunters or other multi damage attacks. Play it safe with Emerald Host. Lose the extra damage/attacks from Galletian Veterans on your BGR/DSH. Go all in with either Quicksilver or Scarlet and not worry about the possible Bounty Hunters. Screen with Glaivewraith Stalkers?
  10. Ya. The Vets rule certainly forces you to specialize. I was hoping to run at least 1 unit of Dreadscythe or BGR in my Emerald Host but now they'll have to be taken in their respective processions for maximum effect. Remember when Nagash and 90 GGR was a common list?
  11. I wonder what the other pts were. With Spell Portal it'd be 1995. Command Trait? Also, I like the 9 SH. I didn't like 6's but either 3's or 9's will do fine. They throw more dice than you realize. The ST will rez 1+1. Nagash will res lots. Retreat and charge wherever...
  12. Game one. No practice games. It was clear that I was piloting something new. The battleplan was Survival of the Fittest. Here are three ways GW words their things. Can you tell me what the correct sequence is? TOP OF THE FOOD CHAIN After armies have been set up, before determining who has the first turn in the first battle round, each player must pick 3 different friendly units on the battlefield, starting with the attacker. These units are your predator units for the battle. Vanishing Phantasms The Nighthaunt appear and disappear from sight to torment their prey. At the end of deployment, before determining control of objectives, you can remove up to 3 friendly NIGHTHAUNT units from the battlefield and place them to one side to be set up in ambush as reserve units. Nurgle: Drowned Men Lords of Sea and Sky: The skies above the Plague Fleets of the Drowned Men are darkened by a pestilent cloud of Pusgoyle Blightlords. After deployment but before the first battle round begins, you can move each friendly DROWNED MEN LORD OF AFFLICTIONS and PUSGOYLE BLIGHTLORDS unit up to 8". If both players can move units before the first battle round begins, they must roll off and the winner chooses who moves their units first. It was ruled that Vanishing Phantasms happens before you choose your Top of the Food Chain, but I still have no clue where you find proof of this sequencing. Anyways, this battleplan vs Kruleboys was nasty. The three objectives lined across the middle meant that I was always going to have something in range of his MSU Boltboys and closing the distance was going to take multiple turns, and thus multiple turns of shooting. In this game I vowed never to forget Olynder's 12" command ability shutdown. Its a 5+ sure, buts its a reason why she'll be an auto-include in almost every list. She is just too good and her 4++ works every time, 50% of the time... She died to an Unleash Hell... I didn't even remember her shutdown but now I'll never forget! The SH's will go into units of 3. Arcane Tome is probably auto include as well. Master of Magic on the GoS will be seen a lot. Ruler of the SH for those who like to gamble, or run a couple big blocks of 20. MoM did let me re-roll a miscast so that was good. Consistency might be better. Lightshard or Beacon are strong second artefacts. A lot of people go for the weapons on a KoS variant but I'm not going to experiment with that for a few more months. I have another 3 game tournament in July and then another in September so I'm basically on the sidelines doing nothing until those games. The GHB2022 will change a lot and we'll see what the state of things are when it comes. Until then, NH is not in a bad spot. It's just piloted very differently. With a few playstyles that'll win games. Lots of tools, but expensive to specialize and when you don't know your matchups you can easily waste points.
  13. I don't get to play much. Maybe a 3 game tournament every other month. Today was my first opportunity to try out the new book. Played vs Kruleboyz, Fyreslayers, and Living Cities. Lots of positives. Lots of learning. Overall. I didn't roll many 8+ charges and was sick when I'd get -3/4 to hit on a Monster and then have the Monster make its saves... That is dice for ya. Still, WoT felt good, despite this. In fact, I got more 2/3's than 10+'s The table is supposed to be a game changer and it can be, I'll just have to pull the lever a bit more. Here is my list: I went with Scarlet Doom because I wanted to have the BGR as Battleline. This will probably be the last time I use this Procession. The mortals on 5's is great, but it didn't do anything and I felt that my style of play didn't make having the BGR in 20's very useful. Don't get me wrong, they are strong and if I had managed to win more than 2 out of 10 priorities they would have wiped my opponent but I felt that MSU/Herohammer overall was a way more efficient way to play. I'll take Emerald Host next time. Hold the Line was great, especially with the Hex who could break away and avoid being killed late game. Bloodthirsty for those essential charges. When I came back to NH in late December I knew I wanted to run Olynder. Her and Kurdoss will be an auto include for me for my next few games. Oly did work, and while it took me a game and a half to remember her 12" 5+ CP negate aura, she was fantastic. Her model regen was great and it makes me seriously going double Warlord to take the Lightshard and a Beacon. I'm never taking Spell Enhance. It was useless. Same with the Burning Head. I'll take another Artefact along with the mandatory Arcane Tome. Actually, I was really impressed with my four Heroes, Oly, Kurdoss, and a GoS moved in a pack with the SH's. The Dreadblade was there to try and be in a bubble of other stuff to echo Discorporate. This was probably the MVP play, the amount of 5+ wards I made really paid back the cost of the Dreadblade. He could tele around is required and giving him Lightshard next time will make him better. The GoS with Master of Magic was great but when I'd cast Spectral Lure I'd roll a 1-2. Seal and Shademist were great. Spirit Drain did nothing in the only situation it was worth using. Not having a ST was a concern going in to the game and while it doesn't heal heroes it probably would have been amazing if paired with either of the units of 20 BGR's. I didn't take one and I don't regret it but its a great value at only 115 pts and helps get closer to that double Warlord battalion. The 2 units of 20 BGR's were a huge threat to my opponents and took a beating. The 4+ 5++ can't be praised enough but its way better value to get the same defense from 20 GGR's. Plus with the GGR you save your sanity because you're not trying to honeycomb BGR's that outgrew their base size long ago. And if you play Nighthaunt you already know the Barrel of Monkeys MEME everytime you try and remove one of you models from anything in tight quarters. The GGR 2" reach and 30 pt discount is enough for me to make the switch. The BGR only did about 10 bonus MW's in 3 games. Emerald Host will hopefully be more consistent. 6 SH's are a pain to move with coherency. I'll take 2 units of 3 next time. The SH's got targeted a few times and lost some models so I don't think it's too risky to keep them in 3's. If I Bodyguard stuff I'll hopefully get plays where I can use the Beacons to bring back one model in each unit. Plus whatever other units. Solid unit. 125 pts is great value and the 18 attacks does more work than you'd think. Also, maybe Herohammer want to go their separate ways midgame? Hexwraiths. I'll always find a way to take at least one unit of 5. Everytime I think about Dreadscythe at the same pts I stick with Hex and they make many plays in this objective based game with their 24" retreat moves. Ya. So that's it. I played 3 games and lost all 3. I learned a lot. Two of the games were super close and could have gone either way. The game vs Kruleboys was tough because of the mortals they do. I gave him first go and he did so much damage. I didn't get a double and Kurdoss whiffed a 2+/2+ sequence but the damage was too much. He had 6 units of Boltboyz all spread out. Fyreslayers wasn't even close. Failed some 9" charges to get his support heroes and he used Fierce Counter Attack to strike first and do many damages... lol Living Cities he made me go first so I castled up in the middle to avoid a Fulm deepstrike bomb and then got doubled and the Fulms hit me pretty hard. I fought back to only lose the game by 1pt while killing 4 Fulms and Krondy's in a couple turns. The heroes did work here and the BGR's only rolled one 6 when they rally'd with 31 dice... first time with 14 models lost and then again with 17 models gone. lol! to GoS and Oly also rolled 1's for the regen... I was still super happy with the game because retreat and charge when you want. Anyways. that probably made no sense but here is what I'm thinking for my next list.
  14. It's really dumb how they went back and forth with this scroll. I have 20 assembled, with 4 crones. I'm just going to paint 2 of the crones with a different mask. The 4 arm models look awesome.
  15. Did you know what your opponent was playing beforehand? I'm not down on Dreadscythes. They seem really good, they just aren't their old scroll which isn't that old! Getting the most out of the new scroll likely isn't that hard either. The 6" within is possible in a lot of situations and if you're choosing to activate them 2nd or 3rd they'll be at -1 to hit/wound if you want and be close to something that was slain. The new Processions allow you to customize your list if you have an overall plan of what you want to achieve. Dammit! I have to buy a Black Coach?
  16. Sleeping maybe. The teleport is great, for sure. The whole spell lore is amazing. I loved the old Spirit Drain. The new version is fine too. Especially as you say... you won't be able to hide anywhere... 30 Sentinels? 60 Zombies? His points stayed the same. Everything else went up... Except Hex, who'll be able to keep up with that Teleport with their 24" moves... He'll favour Kurdoss now, as he's cheaper and hits harder. We'll see... and I didn't even have to assemble all these damn Dreadscythes... Good times!
  17. Here is where I'm leaning if everything leaked turns out to be true! Emerald Host The Krondspine really pairs well with our new WoT table and multi-charges. Maybe get an early Monstrous Takeover, and hope for a mid game Broken Ranks with the Monster. 3* -4 rend damage 4 attacks is no joke. Also if your Incarnate is still engaged in your turn you can just retreat and charge back in with something else if you want. The Rasps, Bladegheists and Myrmourns go off on their own. With the Rasps acting as the screen. 3 units of Hex can help with a lot of board control and MW's where required or to just lend a hand on a multi-charge. Kurdoss and his Spirit Hosts blob around where required. The army is faster than you think. I wish I had the pts for another unit of Myrmourns. No clue what Artefact to take, maybe the Beacon...
  18. I'm trying to figure out the value of Nagash now that we have new Allegiance Abilities. Discorporate and Death Magic Incarnate won't stack on the same unit, so no 4++. Having two units with a 5++ is pretty good, and not worrying about the 12" Deathless bubble can't be celebrated enough. CP is always going to be a thing. Hey, we're not Seraphon. Kurdoss, I'm looking at you to finally pull your weight Sir... Does Nagash's Supreme Lord of the Undead actually effect anything for Nighthaunt now? What brings back models? Olynder, once per battle D6 models(expensive if paired with Nagash) GoS - 6+ Spell, no casting bonus in the NH book, you can take Master of Magic generic trait, and I'd highly suggest considering this one. Does it work with Nagash? I'm not so sure but anyways its a cool General for the army and at least offers a way to bring models back. Spirit Torment? Meh, Heals 3 and maybe you'll get 1+1 models back.
  19. At 105, Banshees are better than most of our Heroes AND provide amazing utility. Lets say they roll an 8 on the charge, they'll be rend-3 and likely whatever they are hitting will have no save, that's not that bad at all, they'll do maybe 4-6 damage. That is amazing. A few units are auto include and synergize with exactly what this multi-charge style we're talking about. Aura of Dread is ridiculous. Everyone knows this. I just hope my opponents don't get too salty when they roll those 6's for battleshock. It is a dice game after all... I rate Emerald Host highest. Doing an average of 8 mortals to an average of 3 different units over the whole game is pretty good. Its 12 average mortals vs a Monster. That kills a Breakaboss and almost kills Gobsprakk! Is that Lord Relictor bothering you? You might also roll hot and take out Lord-Commander Bastian Carthalos! Its not unrealistic! Worried about Kragnos and his shield? The extra mortals will help a lot. The Scarlett Doom bomb is super cool too. 4x20 Bladeghests is freakin scary... and only 1400 pts. That still leaves room for a GoS with an auto cast cogs and an Incarnate maybe?
  20. I was super happy to see this. At their old pts costs its would have made a lot of sense to just throw some MSU Heroes in there to follow along and chip in where required. It wasn't uncommon so see Bonesplitterz take multiple Big Boss just to get stuck in. The cost was right. Cairn Wraith at 70pts, ok we're talking. 115pts... uhmmmmm Lord Executioner at 90, ok! let's fit him in! 140pts... ummm no thanks... It will certainly take some time to synergize everything we got. Hopefully it works out. If it doesn't it'll still be fun trying!
  21. I'm now banking on the NH book having the new pts that will be in the 2022 General's Handbook. If all the other armies get a 20% pts increase we'll be ok. We'll also play nicely into a few other A-B tier armies, which will be fun games. Anything A+ or better will be a challenge. Yeah, if we multi-charge then we'd be ok. We'd have also been better off if we'd have had units of 5 still. Units of 10 32mm bases with a 1" reach isn't ideal for an already mediocre output. Sure, the extra rend from the charge is great but it in no way replaces losing the ability to do a mortal on a 6. It will be interesting to see how DoK fares. Maybe they lose all the tankiness they had and become pure glass cannons. Will they lose their MW output too? Also, I have 20 Dreadscythe that I'm working on and now I am not so sure, I don't understand what the Murderous Bloodlust ability is supposed to accomplish. I had them rated highly and now they don't even have a role in any of my lists.
  22. Same. I'm glad that I'll be saving money on Awlrach as I don't think I'll ever play him. The Dreadscythe I'm currently working took an unexpected hit... All the lists I'm making either lack the DPS required for the current meta, or don't have the models to do what I want to do. In fact, I'm stunned by how our overall DPS took such a hit for the increase in pts cost. We'll see I guess, but yeah, the cat is out of the bag... I'm interested to see how GW releases their preview and spin the new army... Is the Scarlett Doom Bladegheist bomb our only source of damage? Retreat and bomb again? Its only 6-7 mortals plus not much more damage from the actual Bladegheists but it could be a fun distraction blob. Here is a list, the GoS will have that Midnight Tome to guarantee Cogs into play for that 7" Bladegheist charge: The SH babysit Kurdoss while he goes up the board. He's in this list because why not? Lady O will try and keep those Bladegheist blobs model count high enough to matter. Hexwraiths because they are good. I also though about 10 Craventhrone and a Black Coach to deepstrike and shoot/3d3mortal something but I'd have to get the model first... Who wrote this book? The Fyreslayers guy? Where is our damage supposed to come from?
  23. It's going to be a completely different playstyle for sure. This will take time to figure out. I'm really not sure where our damage is supposed to come from. It's crazy to see they reduced out already low output in many cases. What do we have that will kill a gargant? Debuffs add value I guess. But not vs Ranged attacks which will continue to be a massive problem for us. Did they see that Spirit Hosts were the hardest models to assemble and then decide to make them the core of the army? Perhaps @dmorley21 was right this whole time. The Incarnate now seems to be an auto include for me. Maybe slightly better than Big Drogg. Its an interesting situation. RIP Nagash. It was fun...
  24. I'm super happy with the new Nighthaunt Battle Traits! Aura of Dread, Ethereal, Discorporate, Wave of Terror (+table), Frightful Touch, Vanishing Phantasms I can't wait to see what the new Processions do! Grieving Legion, Emerald Host, Scarlet Doom, Quicksilver Dead. The new Battletome is on its way gentlemen!
  25. There has to be a Command Trait that makes the Sciptor's proc roll better. But in this case, it would be an auto-take since I don't know what other CT's would be comparable. Maybe the possibility of choosing a 2nd target? or rolling 3d6 mortals? There has to be something more to it... Too strong?
