Not considering any buff and enemy saves(castigator reroll hits of 1): castigator(80 points) 1*(5/6+1/6*5/6)*2/3*1+2*(2/3+1/6*2/3)*2/3*1=91/54=1.685 judicator(160 points, choosing the bow rather than crossbow) 1*5/6*3.5*2/3*1+4*2/3*2/3*1=67/18=3.722 ballista with single shot(100 points) 1*2/3*3.5*2/3*1=14/9=1.556 ballista with rapid fire(100 points) 4*1/3*3.5*2/3*1=28/9=3.111
  2. evocators on dracolines cannot bring 3 grandstave, only 2 of 3 can bring grandstaves.

  4. 3 ballista is better than 2 ballista with ordinator, but since you are in 1000 point games, I just recommend you remove the ordinator and replace it with relictor(with translocation prayer if player grabbing objective) instead.
  5. For me, I will take the liberator instead. For the castigator, if you still want to bring the hailstorm battalion, you can bring a unit of 3 or 6 castigator. Then use raptors to fill the remaining places.
  6. Some suggestions. First, three ballista is better than two ballista with ordinator, but since you are bringing the hailstorm battery battalion, I am not sure whether it is still the case. Secondly, castigators are cheap(both in points and money) but castigator and judicators are among the worsest shooting units in stormcast army, considering their average damage over their points, I will suggest replacing them with a big unit of vanguard raptors(since you use the anvils stormhost, I won't suggest you bring a lot of ballista). With hurricane against enemy ignoring rend and with longstrike otherwise.
  7. Graviel help your evocators and sequitors charge you enemy in one turn. Lord Ordinator help your ballista do more damage(only consider taking the ordinator if you plan to drop 3 or more ballista in your list).

  9. Lord castellant and graviel(Hammerof Sigmar)/vexillor(everything not in hammer of sigmar) is necessary, heraldor is good. Buy another 3 evocators and a box of 5 evocators on ebay, you can build one of the evocators in box to be a knight-incantor.
  10. If I remember correctly, 2 ballista+ordinator generate less damage than 3 ballista.
  11. If shooting against units ignoring rend, then raptors with hurricanes actually perform better. Otherwise, ballista will always be better.

I can show some math about several stormcast shooting units: First, without any buff(but count the unit's own buff) and not rend or armor: castigator a unit of 80 points, 18" range, 1 attack, 3+ to hit(2+for the prime) , 3+to wound, 1 damage, choosing reroll 1 to hit ability, average damage per unit is 1*(5/6+1/6*5/6)*2/3*1+2*(2/3+1/6*2/3)*2/3*1=1.6852 so damage over points is 0.021065 judicator (skybolt bow&shock bolt) a unit of 160 points, 24" range, 1 attack(d6 for prime), 3+ to hit(2+ for the prime), 3+ to wound, 1 damage, average damage per unit is 1*3.5*2/3*2/3*1+4*1*2/3*2/3*1=3.3333 so damage over points is 0.02083333 judicator (boltstorm crossbow & shock bolt) a unit of 160 points, 12"range(prime 24"), 4 attack(if not moved), 3+ to hit(2+for the prime), 4+to wound, 1 damage, average damage per unit is 1*3.5*2/3*2/3*1+4*4*2/3*1/2=6.88888 so damage over points is 0.04306 if moved previously: 1*3.5*2/3*2/3*1+4*3*2/3*1/2=5.5556, so damage over points is 0.034722 another special weapon for judicator is hard to calculate in math since it takes target unit model number into consideration, so just ignore it ballista (single shot) a unit of 100 points, 36" range, d6 attack, 3+ to hit, 3+ to wound, 1 damage, average damage per unit is 1*3.5*2/3*2/3*1=1.556 so damage over points is 0.01556 ballista (rapid fire) a unit of 100 points, 18" range, 4d6 attack, 5+ to hit, 3+ to wound, 1 damage, average damage per unit is 4*3.4*1/3*2/3*1=3.1111, so damage over points is 0.03111 raptor (with hurricane) a unit of 140 points, 18" range, 9 attacks(if not moved), 4+to hit, 4+ to wound, 1 damage, so average damage per unit is 1*9*2/3*1/2*1+2*9*1/2*1/2*1=7.5, so damage over points is 0.05357 if moved previously: 1*6*2/3*1/2*1+2*6*1/2*1/2*1=5, so damage over points is 0.03571 raptor (with longstrike) a unit of 180 points, 24"/30"(if not moved) range, 1 attack, 2+ to hit, 3+ to wound, 2 damage, so average damage per unit is 3*5/6*2/3*2+1*2*1/2*2/3*1=6, so damage over points is 0.03333 prosecutor (with javelin) a unit of 100 points, 18" range, 1 attack, 3+to hit, 3+to wound, 1damage/2damge(prime), so average damage per unit is 9" within the target: 2*2/3*2/3*1+2*2/3*2/3*2=2.6667, damage over points is 0.02667 9" away from the target: 2*2/3*2/3*2+2*2/3*2/3*2=3.5556, damage over points is 0.035556 prosecutor (with hammer) a unit of 100 points, 18" range, 2 attack, 3+to hit, 3+to wound, 1 damage, so average damage per unit is 2*2*2/3*2/3*1+1*3*2/3*2/3*1=3.111, damage over points is 0.03111 prosecutor (with hammers) a unit of 100 points, 18" range, 2 attack, 3+to hit, 3+to wound, 1 damage, so average damage per unit is 2*2*(2/3+1/6*2/3)*2/3*1+1*3*(2/3+1/6*2/3)*2/3*1=3.630, damage over points is 0.03630 Summary: unit name range average damage over points castigator 18" 0.021065 judicator(bow) 24" 0.020833 judicator(crossbow) 12" 0.04306(not moved)/0.034722(moved) ballista(single shot) 36" 0.01556 ballista(rapid fire) 18" 0.03111 raptor(hurricane) 18" 0.05357(not moved)/0.03571(moved) raptor(longstrike) 24"/30" 0.03333 prosecutor(javelin) 18" 0.02667(within 9" of target)/0.035556(9" away from target) prosecutor(hammer) 18" 0.03111 prosecutor(hammers) 18" 0.03630 If the ballista have the ordinator's buff, they damage will increase by 50%, which makes it(rapid fire) the champion damage maker. Hence, it is ideal to take down any enemy, especially those cannot ignore rend. Although judicator with crossbow is actually the most effective damage maker if not taking ordinator's buff into consideration, their 12" range make them too close to enemy, which I think it is very bad. Prosecutor is also a good shooter, since they do decent damage and have the mobility that everyone else lacks.
  13. I really doubt that if prosecutors become battleline and drops to 80 points, would someone still take the castigators? It seems to me that prosecutor with javelins outside 9" of the target outperform the castigator in average.
  14. Well, I just wonder. Is it OK to use "pretending" technique in some not very formal competition/tournament for your guys? For example, I have 5 castigator from Soul war, can I pretend them as judicators or raptors(they share the same base size) in competition if I make it clear they are pretending something else at the very beginning of the match.

  16. Jesus. Quite a lot people, I think most of them are not SCE player, on FB arguing the new SCE should have points raised since they are OP now. The SCE ratio in recent tournament win ratio isn't that high, but those comments give me an impression that SCE crush other races player so easily like LON and DOK.

I can help you do some math, assuming both charging, For neave, the average damage ignoring enemy's armor and other buff/debuff is 8*2/3*2/3*2=64/9=7.1111 For normal zephyros with sword of judgement, the average damage ignoring enemy's armor and other buff/debuff is 7*1/2*2/3*1+7*1/6*3.5=77/12=6.417 Considering the enemy's armor(3+ for hero usually) neave 8*2/3*2/3*2*1/2=32/9=3.556 zephyros with sword 7*1/2*2/3*1*1/2+7*1/6*3.5=5.25 Hence, it does do more damage, but is it worth the cost of one artifact, I am not so sure.
  18. Stormcast can go with heavy shooting. 4 ballista+ordinator, a unit of 9 raptor with hurricane(with anvil), both are very good choice.
  19. For your list, you want to bring the lord celestant on stardrake? Otherwise it is 240(LAGC)+460(stardrake)+100(heraldor)+100(castllant)+120*2(10 seq)+100*2(10 lib)=1340, you still have 410 points left, good for 3 ballista, 1 unit of skink and 1 extra CP. For me, I won't spend 100 points just for the sigmarite shield.
  20. Ballista is good stuff, choose rapid shooting if in range even if they are 5+ to hit, they do more damage in average than the single shoot through math calculation. You can try to bring 3 and use the points left to bring something like a unit of skinks to help capture points or preventing DS. Just personal suggestion from a new SCE.
  21. Well, I think SCE not going with Hammer of Sigmar(Graviel's buff specifically) have a hard time to charge the 9" after DS into the battlefield. It is reasonable to try the evocators on Dracolines, but maybe a squad of 6 rather 9?
  22. Heraldor can help a unit move an extra d6 distance, while vexillor give may units a chance to reroll. From my point of view, both help you get close to the enemy much faster. Hence it depends on what you need. I dont know why you want to retreat the stardrake if you have buffed it to 2+ reroll 1 save and 4+ ignoring mortal wound. Also, from my point of view, stardrake cannot make much damage in combat except there is a perfect chance to raise enemy's unit continuity problem. I won't expect it to do more damage in combat than the big blob of evocator. Hence I will hope the enemy to concentrate their hits on the stardrake instead of the evocator. For the heraldor's shooting, I won't think anything about that since it is useless if there is not terrain feature near the enemy at all. I have seen tournament with very few and small terrain on the table, so it might be possible that you get no chance to do the shooting all the game.
  23. From my point of view, heraldor and vexillor perform very similar task. Maybe drop heraldor.
  24. That's what I mean, with so many CP. Lord Arcanum can help bring you the effect of cleansing phalanx but you don't actually need to spend points on them. In brief, you get a free cleansing phalanx. Lord Arcanum can let evocator autocast empower, can let sequitor charge both their shield and weapon. Actually, it also frees you from bring two units of evocators and two units of sequitors. You can just bring a big unit of sequitor and a big unit of evocator.
