  1. Pretty weak preview.

Not much new at all for AoS, just re-featuring a bunch of already announced CoS stuff. Manticore looks gorgeous at least.

I really hate calling something "Not the 40k Stream" and having half of it be 30k. I mean, technically your right... but come on, its literally the same thing. I don't care what anyone says haha.

  2. I was thinking about how that winter tome is likely FEC, since its one of the few I think who haven't received an update yet, and how AOS releases later in the year are pretty sparse. I don't want to feed folks to much hope, but it does leave the gap for a partial range refresh of FEC as the Dawnbringer series comes to a close... could even be that one of the tails of the comet falls to FEC insanity as the narrative catalyst for it.

Is nurgle meant to represent dispair and hopelessness? I've always seen it that nurgle is a god who sees the joy of the life cycle.

All life dies and decays and from that decay, new life emerges which in turn dies and decay.

For nurgle, the new life is that of rancid, horrific and terrible disease and plague, but that's by the by!

While the desperate may turn to Nurgle out of hopelessness and dispair and that could be in part what attracts his attention I wouldn't say that's what he represents.

TBF, the chaos gods are pretty motley! They can be interpreted in a variety of ways depending on the person doing the interpreting (both in setting, and us as an outsider looking in). So its not wrong if you consider Nurgle to be the eternal gardener, or the lord of Plague and Disease on the mortal plane.

Liber Chaotica: Nurgle had a pretty awesome passage that I tend to lean on for how I frame Nurgle. Wish I could afford a copy, since its OOP and like $500  on ebay, but that's neither here no there! Included the old reddit link to the excerpt if you feel like giving it a read!

  4. Man. The Harbinger of Decay all but seals my collection of a nurgle army. I've hummed and Hah'd over what to collect after falling out of love with my long-stalled out Mawtribes army.

One thing I didn't see mentioned at all, was the lore blurb about the lore revolving around him.

"Dour and humourless – in contrast to the Grandfather’s usual joyful entourage – they lead Rotbringer cohorts known as Shudderhoods, joylessly committed to undertaking unholy labours in the Plague Lord’s name."

Honestly. Its really refreshing to have a traditionally eccentric or silly faction tighten up for a serious/ dour role in the fiction. Farting nurglings and over the top joyful nurgle dialogue just aren't my thing, and they get so done to death... Same with Orcs and their cockney shenanigans, or their comedy.

It dominates the zeitgeist of the online community, and in Nurgle's case really undermines the whole pathos of what I feel it means to fall too, or be engaged by, the embodiment of despair and hopelessness that Nurgle is supposed to represent as a Chaos God.

I dont want any leaks as it takes away from the event being this close, but a snealy @Whitefang crpytic hint would be some fun!!

Also should be getting some silhouettes or background teases this week!!

Agreed! Love a good leak when we're far from a show. But this close to what is being built up as a massive reveal show at warhammerfest, I'd much prefer to watch the reveal xD.

Really hoping for a big narrative series for AoS. Give me some lore books to buy

All this talk around lore compendiums and fleshing out of the Mortal Realms makes my creative juices flow. (At least I think those are creative juices)

I would love to see a lavish 10-book series written in the style of a great explorer, who set out to try and map the mortal realms. 1 book for each of the 8 Mortal Realms, 1 for the 8 points, and 1 for the Atheric Void between realms. Not novels, but more like a series of journals (Think "There and Back Again" from LotR). Perhaps the protagonist could have some distant connection to one of The Old World's greatest explorers, Marco Colombo! (Aboard a giant flying ship of course!)

Big chunky leather bound covers (a bit like the limited edition Horus Heresy books) Filled with maps, sketches and tales of wonder. Detailed, in-depth looks at the citizenry, politics, architecture, nomenclature and cultural traditions of the many different races and societies that populate the realms.

They could include some fun and flavourful terrain and campaign rules (A bit like 2004's Lustria book for Warhammer Fantasy) with each tomb as thick as a core rulebook.

I'm getting carried away, but damn... so much potential there.

Release something like this, and I'm waiting on release day, refreshing every few seconds to score my copies.

Good call, that's almost definitely the smoking grenade on base of the new Snikrot model (as glimpsed in the 40k New Years' preview).

Yup, think your right! Doubt we're getting more for orks in Arks of Omen, as a kommandos and snikrot make the perfect Boarding Patrol, so most likely a Snikrot basing element

In the twitch stream they did talk about how new eggs were hatching in the temple ships providing new species to the Seraphon.

My bet is on a ton of new stuff, and not much updating off the old. I really hope i'm wrong, or that if they cull some of the older line they are unwilling to update. Seeing some of those old, awful finecast sculpts in the battletomes/ table always bums me out as a collector. Learned that the hard way with ogres, thinking they would release altnerate/ updated sculpts for things like Yehtti, butcher or gorgers.

I mean to be completely fair Gitz already have a really solid and fairly recent model range. Out of all the armies in AOS currently they would've been one of the last ones I thought "needed" a big second wave of models.

Totally true. I guess my annoyance is why introduce a new aesthetic into the recent model range that hearken back to a previously squatted range. Makes it very hard from a perspective rules/force org. to justify buying a unit of them

  10. As excited I am for gitmob snarlfangs, think im going to hold off on them until we get confirmation their is more eventually coming in that aesthetic.

Excited for the preview! Trying to finish my backlog of 40k ork army, and a look at what the new Seraphon release/ what might be coming next for AoS is the boost of motivation I need.

But we do have a lot of stuff going on...

Lumineth invaded Shyish and destroyed a key location for the OBR.

Shish invaded Hyish and caused a tremendous amount of damage to Settler's Gain.

Excelsis had all of the Dark Aelves flee it while having it's inner and outer defenses destroyed.

In Gloomspite the city of Draconium was lost but it did prevent the loss of Hammerhall-Aqshy

Grombrindal is back and helping to unite the dwarves

In Arkanaut's Oath K.O. lose a mining operation, Cities almost lose one of their cities but instead of that happening one of the last independently Human/Dwarf/Aelf city becomes bound to Azyr.

In Soulslayer Duradin are working on reclaiming the Karaks together

We pretty much lost the entirety of the Thunder Lizard constellation destroying one silver tower and the implications of that are huge. 9 gaunt summoners going down to 8 is a weird question that needs to get answered.

Manfred was able to conquer a tremendous amount of territory from Neferata when she went to go do her task assigned by Nagash.

Katakros broke into the 8 points and go to the Varanspire broke into it and caused a lot of damage only to be pushed back to the realmgate.

Dawnbringer Crusades are reclaiming a bunch of lands

Stormcast losing their 100% respawn is a big deal and in the stories they have their greatest minds working on it.

In Kragnos it's alluded that Seraphon have lost two temple cities as of late. One due to the awakening of Kragnos and the other being Mekitospar which who knows if that's truly gone or not.

Not to mention the Incarnates coming up and Beastmen having an Old World Spirit guiding them right now.

All of this lore takes place in a relatively short amount of time which is huge for a narrative like AoS.

I think the disconnect might be is not that the world is stagnating but the pace at which they release new lore / materials might not be quick enough? Mostly because the last bit of lore in a game related material was Thondia.

I feel we do have a lot. More then I know, or have gotten to experience.

The issue is I think its spread too far over too many mediums. Most of which the average fan likely isn't engaging with. IE: White Dwarf. They need to bring the lore and goings on to a more accessible platform. It doesn't need to be verbatim to invalidate their other products, but we should have say... a web page, where world lovers can look at a realm and see what is happening in the moment. What might have happened in the past, and hints to the future.

You can simplify it even more and do something like a Free city newsletter, written in universe to give a biased look from the perspective the mortals. Heck! You could make it a variety selection. One month you do a free city of your choice... then next its a chaos sermon to the tribes of the 8-points. A tablet of divinations from the lizardmen, or a bill of sales/contract from the Kharadron.

Those are the creative lore products I would be so interested in, and would help keep people from always being annoyed that there isnt any lore atm.

    last time underworlds got:

    - beastgrave terranin

    - gaming mat

    - box for cards

    - carry case

    - Godsworn Hunt warband

    - Ironsoul condemnors vs Lady harrow mournflight box

    - tokens

Oh god they can give you old cards/tokens in those boxes? Drastically reduces any interest I had xD

My take on the leak is its all educated guesses.

We knew the gitmob wolf riders were coming so logically a gitmob hero should also be coming.

Yeah, I mean if gitmob was getting even a handful of new kits I kinda would have expected them to be on the grots battletome art. They usually do that for new factions. But they are just a minor faction to gits as a whole.

I still have the hope, because it is just WEIRD if they release wolf riders and nothing else. They just stick out like a sour thumb. No way they open up an entire aesthetic and just leave it twisting in the wind.

I'm really hoping that last pic is the rumored Umbraneth.  The sooner that they and Malerion show up, the sooner I'll get a Tyrion model to kick his scaly hide with!

Dont think so. I think that is 100% a vampire hero for the soulblight tome

  15. Yeah. First new model silhouette is 100% a new Slann sculpt. Slowed down at .56 you see a skink sitting on the arm just like the bone toad. I imagine its going to be an option for a new generic slann, with a bit or two to make another unique named one! Ala Rotigus.

I can only hope the Saurus is a refreshed battleline, and not just a foot hero for the existing Saurus. He isn't overly kitted out with stuff, but they dont show the head so maybe he has some kinda funky head-dress? Im still pulling for them being the much needed battleline.

The Mounted Dino is a bit of a curveball. We're up close, but he doesnt seem small enough to be a replacement kit. I'm personally leaning that its a new unit/hero option. Something old, but new, like they've been doing with a lot of ranges lately. Dig getting some feathered dinos though. Really will add some texture and colour to the army!

Khorne is a foot hero, maybe named. Checks out for what to expect for their upcoming battletome, and TBH, Khorne really only needs rules love atm. Their range is fresh and diverse, unless they maybe pick up some kind of deamon kit from the world eaters release.

... Im going to throw a curveball on the last one. Maybe its an elf... But I think its a new vampire. The bone top knot, the spiked shoulderblades over bare arms, and the sharp, pointed back collar. I'm betting this is the soulblight gravelord hero.

Remember that awesome teaser for the last Gloomspite release. We had a snowy banner scene that became progressively more infested with gobs. It really feels like they've fallen on their laurels with 3rd edition releases. No creative hype trains. Just bland announcements of preview reveals.

Yeah, things definitely feel too canned lately. Need to get more of the hype/creativity back. I want to get hooked into AoS like I was with broken realms prior to their end.

Give us a web portal that's just "What's happening in the mortal realms" with zoom-ins on regions of intrigue that they want to focus on, societal customs and geographical features/artwork. Really start building out the Atlas and Almanac realm by realm so people can put their flags in the world.

What are everyones realistic hopes and dreams for Sundays Sneak Peek!?

Looking for some conformation if the Snarlfang Aesthetic has more too it atm. IE; a few more kits for the gloomspite tome. Ultimately I do feel like they need to add more, as the wolf riders really stick out like sore thumbs atm, but that could be on the scale of years. I don't know if I want to wait in limbo for THAT long before getting into the army.

Looking at you Malerion Elves and Chorfs. I love you, but that is not a waiting train I want tickets too atm xD.
