  1. I have an issue regarding the Olwyr... I love all that pros of the battalion, making the Mournfangs something to be concerned of. But I dislike at all the idea of the FL on TTusk, instead on a Stonehorn. Is it really worth this battalion? And talking about the Eurlbad... Do the Stonehorn attacks benefits from the Eating Hand ability (+1 dmg to the Huskard's melee weapons)?

only costs 1 CP to give a unit of nine 6" run roll is my reasoning.

Short answer no I don't. Some are playable sometimes, kinda:

Skal is ridiculously expensive considering how overpriced hunter is, but sometimes you run it to give 2nd frostlord an artefact in a 4-beast list and also drop down cats as speed bumps.

Braggoth's Beasthammer can steal games against weaker opponents who blunder deployment and also have no chaff when you go second and win a turn 2 double. Otherwise it sucks. Awkward positioning requirements, not enough points for enough mournfang, if you get charged you can't double pile in and also will probably die.

Eurlbad makes your huskard as damaging as a frostlord which is cool, but procing mws on 6s to wound is far too infrequent to make mournfang and beastriders worth taking, esp at 170pts. (~1 in 12 attacks proc 1mw, and 2 mournfang have 12 attacks...) If you bring buff things like butcher you are too light on guys that can accept said buffs.

Jorlbad makes mournfang at least able to almost keep up with your stonehorn for line breaker which is nice, but they still don't do any damage. It does open up the potential for a plaguetouched warband/gorefist/brass-stampede style strat of 'run across the field, lock their army in the deployment zone, and just sit there grinding while behind them some tiny units are collecting points.' 12 mournfang, butcher, cogs, jorlbad 1980. Issues: cogs is a pure coinflip, butcher is 1-in-3 for the buff t1 and then he's out of range, sucks on many battleplans, isn't tanky enough to deal with competitive armies (gorefist is straight better and no one runs that anymore cuz it doesn't cut it), loses to a lot of counter strats like deepstrikes, teleports, ambushes, etc.

    Torrbad has no redeeming qualities.

Olwyr Alfrostun has some cool bonuses, but it's so expensive it is crazy. An aggressively undercosted sylvaneth mega-battalion this is not.

Svard is 2350pts min with 5 monsters.

Alfrostun has the most laughable bonus for a 15 thousand point megabattalion: re-roll 2s on the charge lol

@Calebexnihilo Nice, dude! Duality is the one battleplan that BCR has an advantage in imo

I really love this explanation, very useful!

  3. Hello fellows!

I'm close to finish my KO army in which I'm working, based on rules of Thryng (despite the fact that I'm painting in another scheme) and the Grundstok battlalion.

I have some doubts I want the grumbling dawis could answer me. First of all, the Grundstok base + general + battleline are at least 1690 points, which are composed of the following:

    -Khemist.

    -3x10 Companies, with 3x Skyhook.

    -10 Thunderers.

    -3 Gunhaulers.

    -1 Frigate.

    -3 Skywardens.

My headache is in what I can spend those 310 remaining points. Another Frigate and a 70 points allied character (so bad the Navigator costs 80...)? Another Khemist and another Company/other stuff for 150? An Endrinmaster (to have some cc punch) and another stuff for 190? Brokk? I really like the Admiral model, but his rules are rather useless, and his damage output it's a shame.

What other options could you give me? Don't be afraid of suggestions, I have all the models for KO.

  4. My usual opponent plays Tzeentch. He has almost everything, daemons, mortals and arcanites. We have played competitive lists and funny lists. And I have never won him playing neither Ironjawz nor Beastclaw. And I'm guessing it will happen the same when I will start playing my beloved KOs. Why? Well, his MWs spells spam is quite insane; the Enlightened are quite insane (I look at them, then at the Brutes and I want to cry), and so on.

I really HOPE a coming soon update for my 3 armies, because I have won 0 games with them. Only playing against Tzeentch, yes, but 0 games won...

  5. My 2 cents on guessing the battletomes for this year:

    -Slaanesh.

-Free People (with Devoted of Sigmar and Ironweld Arsenal).

    -Kharadron Overlords (maybe with Disposessed?)

-Aelf Battletome, with the old Dark and High Elves together?

-Slaves to Darkness, maybe with Darkoath?

-Ogor battletome, with Gutbusters, BCR and Maneaters all together (again), like Gloomspite battletome does.

  6. Personally I would never play a Frostlord on Thundertusk, 'cause it's completely antisynergyc. You always want the huge power of the Forstlord smashing foes in combat meanwhile you don't want the Thundertusk being wounded so it can spread easy MWs around.

I prefer, always, Frost on stone and the Huskard on Thunder, besides, it has a great ability the Huskard.

You can take out one of the Frigates and take that exact list right now. And the added frigate doesnt really change much to that list. (other than give some mobility)

Then, you lose the battalion, the 1-drop and the rules for that battalion's models.

  8. I would like to start a Seraphon army based on the new battleforce box. Is it a good deal? All of the box can be played with more or less success?

And... What can I do to have Slanns without being finecast/metal? I mean, alternative (plastic) models.

  9. If you can find an old battleforce force, it could be a good way to start: battleline, character and an Ironclad.

Otherwise... The start collecting is not a bad option at all: you will use both Thunderers and Endrinriggers/Skywardens, whereas you can do some kit bash on the Endrinmaster in order to convert him in a Khemist. And the Gunhauler is a ship, nothing bad to say about!

Anyways, the bad point is that, the most useful units (battleline, Khemist, Frigate) are not selling in any box (except the old battleforce).

From the Ironjawz topic where an IJ player had an unfortunate encounter with Tzeentch, MW will eat at them alive with their lack of After Saves.

    That was me haha

Yes, in the first turn of my rival he inflicted me 17 mortal wounds from more than 24".

  11. Fight for the middle one? Unless I am missing something, there are only 2 objectives, each one in a player's territory.

I like the idea of charging with Gruntas to clean the screens (or at least, try to). The MK has an insane damage output, but he is frail as hell even with 3+ ironclad+ignax, and I used 440 points to kill a screen an a lesser character, maybe 160/200 points worth both units.

I am thinking on a list with an Ironfist+Gorefist, without MK, which is giving me nothing but sadness.

  12. Finally I've played the game.

We played gifts from heaven battleplan. My rival's list was:

    -Gaunt Summoner.

    -LoC.

    -Herald on disc.

    -2x6 Enlightened.

    -2x10 Acolytes.

    -9 Flamers.

    -10 Pink Horrors.

    -Endless spells: Umbral and Geminis.

    What I've played:

-MK with Ironclad and Ignax Scales.

    -Footboss with Thermalcloak.

    -Warchanter with Boss Skewer.

    -2x10 Ardboys with big choppas.

    -2x5 Brutes.

    -6 Gruntas.

    -Bloodtoofs.

I've deployed first and allowed him to go first. In his first magic phase, he almost destroyed one unit of Ardboys (he inflicted 17 mortal wounds only with spells) with the spells of the LoC and the Gaunt (the LoC used the Portal to use a Infernal Gateway, and the Summoner augmented his spells via Arcane Sacrifice trait and the Vortex). Finally, he invoked one unit of Blue Horrors.

It was nice, I thought, 17 mortal wounds from more than 24". Almost 1 unit destroyed. And I can't bring back my units. In his movement, he moved back all what he could, forcing me to make a suicidal move in order to reach him.

So, I decided to do it. I couldn't allow him spam his mortal wounds freely because I was losing models  quickly. I saved my command points (except 1 I used last turn to save the life of my last 2 Ardboys), and moved and run as fast as I could, praying to be lucky and get the turn.

And I did! I was terribly lucky!

So, I move all in order to charge with all, and I did a mistake, because the unit of gruntas was far from the MK Waaagh! When I declared it, all my army was in range except the Footboss and the Gruntas, and I should, at least, use 1 Waaagh from the Footboss and boost the Gruntas' attacks (at least, 1 Waaagh could give me 12 attacks more).

Anyways, I charged with all except the 2 Ardboys (failed) and one unit of Brutes (failed) and the Warchanter (too far away, as always). With the Warchanter I boosted the unit of Ardboys. The massive base of the MK, as big as my head, avoided him to charge anything more interested than a unit of Pink Horrors (I wished he could charge into the LoC but it was impossible), though he could attack the Herald on disc.

With those units with +4 attacks (I could roll a 6, yay), I completely destroyed both unit of Horrors, the Herald (MK with +4 attacks is something that can completely wipe out almost everything) and one unit of Acolytes, and 3 Enlightened.

In that moment, I felt that I could win the game. What a fool...

To sum up, the Flamers destroyed the MK and one unit of Brutes in 2 turns of shooting (the Brutes could kill the LoC). He invoked more units to the battlefield, and with his shooting, his OP AS HELL units of Enlightened and his spells, he won the game. I lost all my models and got 0 points from the mission.

So, I was thinking... Even taking a big risk to get the double turn, with boosts, some luck and wiping out as much as I can, I still lost. What else can I do? I was quite afraid of his magic, and those 17 mortal wounds on first turn gave me the reason to be afraid of.

P.S. I hate Enlightened with all my heart.

P.P.S. I also hate now Flamers with all my heart now too. Three shoots each one with D3 damage. What the heck is that?

  13. They are good ideas, despite the fact I don't have the Boyz or a Fungoid.

The Footboss is something I really want to test because I've just bought it recently ^^. I will consider, however, the ideas behind more gruntas and less Boss.

    Thanks ^^
