  1. I don't believe that. Not only one of the current Battletomes have stamped out the old models. Just take a look at the BoC or Skaven books, they have models (and rules) from 6th Edition.

What I believe is that they will release new models that are HUGE. That is something I could bet for.

  2. The only one list of Ironjawz for the Bloodtithe:

  3. I like the Escort, also. The only problem it has is you can't include the 40-man blob alongside the required Battleline. If I'm not counting bad, the basic Escort costs 1070 points, only with the required untis. Is you put the Battleline (2x10 man, unit of 30 man) and a Khemist (and +5 thunderers), you only left 70 points which is a pain in the neck because you have NOTHING to spend in those remaining points. Not only KO but also any allies, except, oh wait, 2 mini griffins.

However, I think is the only way the skyhook blob and the Escort can work together. Specially that the Escort asks for a Frigate and you can give the endrinwork from Zilfin. This, in fact, is the list I'm playing:

    Allegiance: Kharadron Overlords

    Skyport: Barak-Zilfin
    - Additional Footnote: There's No Trading With Some People

    Leaders
    Aether-Khemist (160)
    - General
    - Trait: Stickler for the Code:These are Just Guidelines
    - Artefact: Aethersight Loupe

    Battleline
    30 x Arkanaut Company (360)
    - 9x Light Skyhooks
    10 x Arkanaut Company (120)
    - 3x Aethermatic Volley Guns
    10 x Arkanaut Company (120)
    - 3x Aethermatic Volley Guns

    Units
    3 x Skywardens (120)
    10 x Grundstok Thunderers (200)

    War Machines
    Arkanaut Frigate (240)
    - Main Gun: Heavy Sky Cannon
    - Great Endrinworks: Aetherspheric Endrinds (Barak-Zilfin Skyvessel)
    Grundstok Gunhauler (160)
    - Main Gun: Sky Cannon
    - Great Endrinworks: The Last Word
    Grundstok Gunhauler (160)
    - Main Gun: Sky Cannon
    Grundstok Gunhauler (160)
    - Main Gun: Sky Cannon

    Battalions
    Grundstok Escort Wing (130)

    Total: 1930 / 2000
    Extra Command Points: 2
    Allies: 0 / 400
    Wounds: 115

The list has its strengths, but also their so obvious weaknesses: only 1 character is the main and obvious flaw.

  4. I agree. Not onyl you can spend CPs on ignoring battleshocks (which is, by far, the most useful command ability we have) but also there are many tricks to improve, or better said, avoid, battleshocks.

And, as ledha says above, a unit of 40 boys need to lose 28 in order to start killing your heavy weapons.

The sad point is that the most beautiful and iconic models, the battleships, are in a bad niche right now. Really, really sad...

  5. The 40 blob Arks Companion with 12 skyhooks and  a Khemist is something to be scared of. Not only monsters or characters but also troops, with its D3 damage.

Supported by the rules of Zilfin, they can easily kill large flying monsters such as MK, Alarielle, Archaon, LoC, Nagash, Mortarchs and more (against them, are 24 shoots hitting on 2+ rerolling 1s, wounding on 3+ rerolling 1s, -2 D3). From a 28" range. Other units that are not monsters/characters but are menaced by them are eels, enlighteneds, ALL the nighthaunt army...

I think that, until an update or new battletome, this is our most frightening unit.

  6. Allegiance: Beastclaw Raiders
    Mortal Realm: Shyish

    Leaders
    Frostlord on Stonehorn (420)
    - Artefact: Ethereal Amulet
    Huskard on Thundertusk (360)
    - Blood Vulture
    - Artefact: Wraithbow
    Icebrow Hunter (140)
    - General
    - Trait: Everwinter's Master

    Battleline
    2 x Frost Sabres (40)
    2 x Frost Sabres (40)
    2 x Frost Sabres (40)
    Thundertusk Beastriders (340)

    Units
    6 x Icefall Yhetees (240)
    6 x Icefall Yhetees (240)
    3 x Icefall Yhetees (120)

    Total: 1980 / 2000
    Extra Command Points: 0
    Allies: 0 / 400
    Wounds: 116

What do you think on a list like this?

  7. Only 2 changes I would do:

-Split the sabres into 2x2, they are fantastic objective grabbers.

-Braggoth's item is usually either the Ethereal Amulet (ignores rend) or the one from Aqshy that grants him +4"M and fly (combines perfectly with the ability of pile in twice, ignoring screening enemy units).

    • Thanks 1
  8. Thunderes buffed by a Khemist. A uni of 10 (200) points will make 32 shoots at 18" hitting at 3+, wounding on 4+, rend -1 damage 1, wich is something pretty. If you grant another buffs from Sky Ports (+1 to hit against flying units, Oportunistic Privateer, Barak Thryng's Grudge...), they become something to really look at.

And, presonally, the SC box is a good start to build a Grundstok Escort Wing, a battalion I really like.

  9. I don't know... FEC and Skavens had a battletome, but their abilities and items were in the GHB18, something similar to Beasts of Chaos which didn't have a Battletome but their abilities and items there.

BCR, KO, Sylvaneth and Tzeentch have their abilities and items in their book whereas Ironjawz, Fyreslayers, Seraphon and StD don't. The same case for Free peoples and Gutbusters, the former has abilities and items the latter doesn't.

So, my 2 cents on guessing battletomes for this year is:

    -Slaanesh (confirmed by GW).

-Fyreslayers (poor battletome and few models).

-Seraphon (just an update with maybe some new plastic model, as Skavens and FEC).

    -StD (the same as Seraphon).

-Gutbusters/Ironjawz (the former NEEDS urgently a Battletome, the latter just needs and update of rules and mechanics).

-Free Peoples (no Battletome but items and abilities in GHB18, so they just need a book having all their range in plastic, despite of being quite old as the State Troops and shooting troops).

These are my thoughts on that :)
