  1. I'm really excited for the game, but I'm afraid I won't have anyone to play with. The shop is majority younger players with no one having originally played WHFB. I've tried gauging interest and it's been met with a lot of skepticism and dismissing. I've been told if they wanted to play The Old World they would just boot up their computer and play Total War. I'm afraid my interest in the game is plummeting to rock bottom if there's no one to enjoy the game with.

  2. Well I just finished catching up on 4 years of thread posts. It was funny looking back at a lot of the rumors for not just The Old World but other GW lines and seeing what actually did come about. Some were surprisingly close. I've been getting really excited for The Old World lately. I've got a decently sized dwarf collection I originally got for AOS to play as Dispossessed during 1.0 and a little of 2.0 before the Cities squatting. Honestly Warhammer Fantasy was always the game I wanted to play and the setting I preferred but the game was dead for at least about a year when I got into tabletop. The release can't come fast enough.

    I would say that playing against us, other players have an smaller margin to make mistakes and we can abuse that better than 70% of all armies in the game. 

     

    Should I expect a nerf in the Winter FAQ? Seems like I might end up having played 3 different versions of the army in all three games I've played (1.0 tome, 2.0 tome, upcoming FAQ).

  4. Are KO broken or just really good? Played my first game today with the new battletome (I know I'm very late), and they seemed incredibly strong at least against the pure melee no magic Chaos I was up against. I saw the recent GW article talking about KO being meta so I was wondering what I got myself into.

  5. I'm looking to get back into Sigmar with the KO army I started, but I am having trouble making a 1,000 point list. I want to run Barak-Zilfin because I love the ships but I don't know what to really put in the list because everything is so expensive. Any help is appreciated.

    Maybe they will make it look just as planned? They could reveal the Warband after Ghouls.

    I chase the meta, but I don't pour a ton of money into chasing the meta.

    When I sell my current army I try to do so before it is fully nerfed, thus getting a pretty high sell value out of it.  That money does not fully cover buying the new army unless the new army is second-hand, but it covers a good portion of it.

    The key is not getting attached to anything.  You don't play armies you like the look of, you play armies you know are statistically powerful.  When it comes time to sell them, you sell them. You don't hang on to them.  

    So do you paint your armies? This is such an alien concept to me as someone in it for storytelling and "my dudes". It honestly makes me sad to think about it, it feels so dead and empty.

    Give him lightning hands like Emperor Palpatine from Star Wars. Ranged lightning attack and in melee he just wallops on dudes with lightning fists.

    I don't personally believe in intentional power creeps, but I  do think GW might sometimes take ideas and goes too far with them. One example right now is how generous they are with mortal wounds. It seems everyone and their mother are able to dish out mortal wounds somehow. I guess the game isn't fun or engaging if models aren't being constantly removed from the table. What's the point of painting if they won't be on the table longer than a turn?

    It also fits the lore quite well. Clan rats are much less scared of the 8ft tall stormcast or blood soaked khorne berserkers than the 25ft tall physical embodiment of their god stalking across the battlefield. 

    I bet dwarfs would run into battle a bit faster if Grungi or Grimnir was waving them on. 

    How am I supposed to kill the rat daemon with a re-rollable save and a 5+ feel no pain?

    For Grots, the guy I play with runs his warlord with the negative to hit trait and I think something else so It's impossible to snipe him more or less.

    I do enjoy the game, it's just there are clearly armies that are tough to deal with as a former Dispossessed player and now a Kharadron player. There are only three people at the store I play at that play Sigmar. One plays GG, one plays Skaven, and the other's play Legions of Nagash. It's an uphill climb most games and I will not withhold my ranting about the state of armies. I do play other games. I play 40k and Middle Eath. 40k definitely has it's power problems with everyone at the shop running knights or knight equivalents and every list and game leading to an arms race on dealing with knights. Middle Earth however is a great game so far. We have three players and each week we have a big battle between the two Good players, myself one of them, and the one Evil player. Those matches have usually always felt balanced. I have never looked at the enemy army and thought, "Well what am I supposed to do against that?" Recently the Evil player bought Sauron however so this could be the start of another local meta power struggle.

    Its super annoying to look at a rule like Deathly Invocations and be like "Okay, I guess I need to focus fire units down". Then they have Undying Legions so its like "Okay, I guess I shouldn't just pour all my attacks into one unit". So its like "I guess my only hope is to kill the general". Then the general is Nagash or otherwise effectively impossible for your battletome to kill (I get that powercreep and a points increase has dethroned Nagash from his previously absurd level) and you're just screwed.

    It's funny at first to read that Skeletons can theoretically output hundreds of attacks, but seeing it in action and having to work through the logistics with the player doing it is beyond disgusting.  You can't shoot the 40 skeletons because they will just come back up later. You can't let the skeletons touch you or your unit will be dead before the other player even piles in his models. You can't charge them because you might not kill them all and you'll just be left with the same situation just maybe a bit better. And while you were trying to figure out how to deal with the slow approach of death, unless they have been running every turn and hitting those sweet 6's on their rolls, here comes a zombie dragon to mess up your plans.

  14. I hate when armies (GG and Skaven specifically) get bonuses that buff their weakness. Battleshock immunity is such a crappy thing to play against with hordes especially with a low damage output army that lacks mortal wounds and wizards. 

    "Killed enough after putting everything into a 40 block of grots to trigger battleshock? I'll spend a CP to ignore it. Also I just regained that CP so I can do it again next turn. Also. here comes the other 40 block to flank you."

    It's so tiresome and unfun.

  15. MMORPG with gameplay similar to Planetside 2 with the different GAs fighting an endless control campaign over a section of a realm. Territories change based upon who controls it. Game starts with one realm (perhaps Fire or Life) and could do expansions into other realms based on the popularity of the game.

    It should be noted that the city of Glymmsforge has an entire Great Lake within its walls that they use as a massive Fishery, so we got aquaculture as well.

    Now you're just making me imagine what kind of incredibly dense and specialized creatures would exist in quick silver seas and lakes. They would put our real life deep sea animals to shame.

  17. Are there rumors that Lizards will be removed? I don't see GW doing that. They appear to be popular at least from what I've seen and heard. GW just needs to nail down exactly what they are. That could be one reason for their 2.0 being so late, they are trying to solidify what exactly their role is. Order daemons that look like Aztec dinosaur men that are created by nostalgic frogmen and may or may not continue to exist or have free will is kinda too vague. Correct me if anything new has come up.

    Regarding the lore , I'm not sure why people are so obsessed with lore and trade in AOS when it didn't seem to matter in the old world. I l know more about how the realm of death functions as a society than I ever did about Khemri.

    Can anyone of the top of their head day what the major export of Altdorf was? I know that Hammerhall Gyran exports water. 

    I know that the gloomspite gits covet glass objects because they don't have the ability to make them themselves. Does anyone know anything similar about old world goblins? 

    As someone who was around for the early days of Warhammer and 40k , I feel that AOS is in a better state  lorewise than either of those games was after 3 years.

    Warhammer Fantasy didn't exactly need to go into logistics because for the most part the setting was medieval and you can extrapolate what their trade would be like from that. Age of Sigmar on the other hand is full of high fantasy dangerous realms and fantastic landscapes with magic in their very core.  I can look at the WHFB Empire and figure out they must have farms like in real life. How people grow food in a place like Chamon is an entirely different question. Do the people living there consist on a diet of excessively enriched grain due to all the metal?
