my answer to this would be... No no and no..

with the new book, a lot of lists really looked at the translocation relictor combo. As translocation was forgotten by a few FAQ already many of us believed it was intentional. This even more because al other movement tricks where nerfed or removed.

We havent got a wide variety of lists doing well? we only got a few tournament data and our own data that we discus here. On tournament data we have 1 lists with a relictor 4 fulms and 6 longstrike. Yes this list can function without the relictor but no where near as good. And a knight judicator spam list. Other lists are insert translocation relictor and teleport protectors or imperitant annihilator swarm. Its really not that wide of a variation when you look at how insane amount of troop and hero choise we have.

Good? mayb but mostly pretty boring.

We've had good results from mixed-arms lists, all dracoth lists, that weird Knight Judicator list, Annihalator-heavy lists.

    Doesn't seem boring...

While I don’t think the list is bad by any measure, it’s worth bearing in mind that this is one of the actual rules writers, so skill and experience undoubtedly plays a part.

I don't think he's a rule writer - rather oversees AOS in the studio. Certainly he is a skilled player with extra knowledge, but there are a lot of misconceptions about the Stormcast book from people who I've wagered have played very little with it. Better to approach things with an open mind.

Lucky he is allowed to play without a FAQ 😛

This list seems like it will crumble to anything half decent in the current meta though. Try to engage a gargant army with this, do maybe 10 damage and then lose a unit of dracoths in return, repeat, while also not being able to contest any objective xD

It is currently 4-0, and has beaten Mega Gargants. LOL. Lots of unearned 'wisdom' in this thread...

I feel like people really underrate praetors. Yeah you can give a hero a mirrorshield to protect them from shooting. But praetors also protect from spells, random MW abilities and even melee. Each one basically has the same attack profile as a hero, some other minor things they provide are look out sir (3 models) and extra bodies for objectives. Additionally their footprint can stop the hero from getting surrounded.

They aren't incredible but they do provide some damn good protection. Great for Gardus, or with another hero it means you can put a different artifact on them like an arcane tome or something. If you have an amulet on a Stardrake or similar, the extra enhancement you get from a battalion could go towards something else.

What's good about them is that they fulfil a specific role. I don't mean that facetiously. Given how we have too many slightly different versions of the same unit, it is nice to have defined roles.

It's for attrition combat. There are a lot of other units in the army who will want to swing early in the combat phase more than them, but vanquishers can safely be picked later in the phase because when the enemy kills models there's no loss of offense; those guys weren't attacking anyways. The unit is self-sufficient and can just go off on their own without needing support from the rest of the army, while being offensive enough to deal meaningful damage (especially with exploding when they die) and disproportionately difficult to fully eliminate. Two surviving vanquishers left alone can easily multiply into a threat again within a round as rally can happen in both players' hero phases.

For such a straightforward stat block the unit is surprisingly high on the skill curve to get good use of them.

    1. Picking them later can be counter-intuitive, given that they perform better against 10 man units - if your main hammers go first, will there still be ten men?

    2. You say they are self-sufficient, but then also talk about rallying them, which requires a CP.

Weird unit. Can't see it myself, but will give them a go.

If employees know, and are allowed to tell people, then why won't the company say anything...

Do they? I don't think 40k getting precedence over AOS is a conspiracy; especially taking into account things like novels, video games, and now (animated) shows. If shipping is such a hassle + 40k is their bigger seller, it would seem predictable business sense for GW to sideline AOS--especially with the dragon moulds problem.

yes lol they do. releasing aeronautica is not a more sensible move than releasing models for mainline factions in aos that already have books released...

I was pretty much past blaming them for the shipping issues and thought surely it was just a poor coincidence that grey knights didnt get caught up in the delay. Or orks. Or kill team.. or black templar...

Now it's starting to feel more and more like they ran the numbers and said "X customers buy 40k so we'll lose less money if we use our limited shipping room to sell only 40k"  (which might even be a sound business decision I dont know) and just wont admit it.

We know for a fact that GK and TS were late...

We also don't know if the other items were moved around.

The fact is GW WANTS to sell us their products; missing launch is a big miss for the Stormcast kits (especially the non-dragons, which would have sold more on hype, rather than rules).

The lack of communication is bizarre, but these conspiracies are dumb.

I've heard that it also has to do with the global shipping crisis. I've had a box of secondary market 40k models from china that has been sitting still since early July. And with no updates in sight, it could be a while before I get any type of product. I'm sure this has been affecting GW big time.

As much as I am frustrated that we aren't getting our models, I'm not entirely sure it is GW's fault. So I'm gonna extend my patience and hope for the best.

Well quite, GW wants to be selling you models rather than them sitting in a warehouse/container...

Apologies if this had been discussed already, but what is the current consensus on Judicator shockbolt bows?

I heard Vince discussing them on the latest Warhammer weekly and he said to never take them as they are now worse than the normal bow in every way, and it seems he's correct. It appears if you roll a 1 you will end up with less shots than a normal bow, making it almost not worth it.

Is this an oversight on GW's part or intentional? If they had the option for a prime that added 1 attack it would make it worth it, what are your guys thoughts?

The Shockbolt bow doesn't cause mortals on a 6 to hit. Just for the ease of rolling, it is better to leave it out

  10. I'm far less convinced by Drakes compared to other people. They certainly pack a punch, but I have some skepticism of how they'll perform on the table. I dont think they'll be the powerhouses everyone is framing them as - though from an internal balance POV they seem slightly undercosted. They'll be better in moderation imo.

The single best rule in the book is the counting for three models on objectives - this is a game winning ability, if you are set up to use it.

Also - I'll keep banging the vanguard hunter drum. They are brilliant.

    But wait. From Sacrosant:

    Seqitors - better

    Evocats - better

Evocators - worse but they were bonkers and probably deserved it

    Castigators - better

    Balist - better

    Ordynator - better

    Exorcist - better

Every incarnation of Lord Arcanum - better

So what are you talking about?

I'm with you. Well, I'd argue the Lord Exorcist is worse simply by virtue of its insane cost, but they seem fine. Sequitors, as a redeemer unit, are very very good.

I just noticed that 2 of 3 SCE Start Collecting Boxes are gone. Also I wonder a bit why hunters are Angelos and not Redeemer as they fill the "Basic troop" trope for Vanguard Chambers.

Because they aren't redeemers in the fluff!

From a design POV, I would have made Vindictors not redeemer; that would have brought the different options for battleline closer together.

palladors are and have always been a nice niche unit in casual plays.
The rend 2 on the mounts as well as good movements, a bit of shooting and MW on 6 to hit guarantee that you'll spread some damages here and there.
they can deal with a lone support hero on their own as well or a small sorcerer.

In 3rd edition they each count as 2 which means that a unit of 3 will count as 6, combine this with the ability to teleport each turn makes them good to back cap a point and clean the goalkeeper units.

I think they could be nice in some builds and put some pressure on your enemy flanks and support units but i don't believe they'll be there on the most competitive builds where better options and synergies are available.

play them in casual plays and you'lle njoy them :) they're fun and versatile and they look awesome, personnaly i love them.

I really think vanguard stormcast will be a hidden gem. The amount of flexibility on durable units is phenomenal.
