I'm really curious about the use of mercenaries actually. GW has been rigorously obliterating any desire to take allies for quite some time now, and I rarely if ever see them in the 15-20 people in my play group. Moving the best rules into the allegiance abilities just means it's pointless to bother. I wonder why they went through the trouble of making a mercenary system if they were just going to toss even more restrictions on them.
They have also been broadening the groups within those allegiances, to be fair.

An intra-death rival to Nagash would be incredible. I hope they would pursue that.
Tomb Kings still have points and rules, fyi. T suggest they are unsupported isn't entirely accurate.

Serious question: what would it take for vanguard chamber to be viable?
Making vanguard hunters battleline would be nice... The rest of their units are fine. Maybe a slight reduction in Palladors' cost.

Question regarding look out sir and longstrike hero sniping, am I correct that the -1 to hit makes it kinda impossible to trigger the 2 MW on a 6?
It makes no difference. It is on unmodified rolls of 6.

That is not what the people who posted the pics said. Particularly Ben. Their actual tweets are linked to with exactly what they said when they posted the pics. If you have more information then I do please share. I've seen lots of pics this weekend where people just said "I experimented with the new Contrast range and this is what I thought, here's my pics"
Well, I am right. It was painted with one highlight on each colour.

You know what, think I've decided... I'm officially sold on these new paints. Really looking forward to testing them out. First on the block, those Underworlds warbands which I would never have got round to painting.
That's a really good idea, trying it out on underworlds.

The Celestant Prime can be absolutely brutal. Holding him back can really shape your opponent's behaviour. That you can charge so reliably is vital. They just destroy units.

Here's my question. Can anyone school me on kurnoth hunters, especially greatbows? I really want the bows to be good, because enormous treedudes with bows taller than a human are awesome, and also quiverlings are adorable, but people talk a lot of trash about them.
With how much LOS blocking terrain produced by our woods, they just don't work very well...

Jesus, I am so glad I never bothered to take the time to learn to paint properly now.
Those aren't just the contrast paints. But the contrast paints plus usual highlighting techniques. Apparently not the Plague Marine.

I think a better comparison would be
old primer with traditional 2 thin coat
new primer with traditional 2 thin coat
new primer with new contrast paint Because they seemed to advertise the new spray primer as something needed for the contrast paints to work
The new primer is basically zenithal.

My instincts are that there was a lot of shuffling. Forbidden Power should already be out or imminently but has been pushed back. Sylvaneth similarly. With books and terrain held up, they are likely a little uncertain about immediate plans.

hmm that was not much for AoS, maybe the delayed actually did something to the release schedule
This is my hunch, unfortunately.

really like the picture of holding one of the new trees, gives an idea of how big they are !
Roughly the same outline as the current ones.

So the new Wyldwoods have basically the same base template as the old ones. Just more usable... I wonder if they will still block LOS. My hunch is yes. Though that seems even less intuitive than with the previous model.

Evocators may seem OP at first glance.
But after a several new battle tomb coming out. Our Evocators are now just fine. lol
In units of 5 they are fine. Bigger units become slightly ridiculous and lead to bad games in my experience.

Point of note: I've played against dozens of players using them, and only one person ever just used the base without the trees. They are not just cosmetic (for better or worse) and in my experience, people realize that removing the trees is the same as removing, say, a wall on a building.
Pretty much everyone in the UK removes the bases, even if only temporarily. They are such a hassle to move through. That hassle outweighs the ugliness of being without the tree. People play that you cannot move through the base base.
The Wyldwoods have been a blight on the army for too long. They are a massive ordeal every single game. With how Sylvaneth models are they get caught and caused damage to fragile branches.

Tree Revenants at 80 points being able to teleport anywhere on the board are like mini heart renders, super valid for the cheap point cost. It's a shame to see Kurnoths with greatbows staying at 200, but maybe with re-roll 1s from a Arch Revenant and some other new things, they could see a return.
The challenge will be if we keep LOS blocking. Heartrenders are great because they stay in reserve. If you can easily pick off the tree revs it will be less impactful (probably still good though).
Such a cool rule.

Secondly, I had to chuckle at the Kurnoth warscrolls. Was it really necessary to split into 3? I mean the baseline stats & abilities are all the same still, just give the different weapon profiles. Reminds me of when I was at school and trying to pad out a project to make it look like I’d done more work than I had or fill up space.
It is very sensible for balancing the points. Swords and Scythes could perhaps be done similarly, but bows are such a different prospect than the others. It would be like having Enlightened and Skyfire on the same scroll.

For some reason I can't find the new points?
You decide them it is a return to classic AOS.
But seriously this is great. WYLDWOODS ARE GONE.

Ok thanks.
Now another topic: In the Azyr app the updated scroll stills says "failed save rolls", while the scroll on the GW page (at least the German version) says re-roll all save rolls. 🙄
The app is not the final arbiter of the rules. It is often filled with errors

I managed to squeeze a Cleansing Phalanx list down to five drops, but in general no. That's one of our foibles - so many battalions but so little of interest. Another examples of how our book was rushed.

& your forgetting the classic new 'can't really tell what number its supposed to be' Sylvaneth dice!
Amazing how frequently they fudge this up. Stormcast ones are perfect. Beyond that... eesh

I think, as always, the Kurnoth load outs all have their place. Swords had and still have better output than scythes but are limited by reach.
For bows to make a solid return they do need some change or a good drop in points. The to hit and low number of attacks makes them too unreliable, which is only made worse by 2.0s changes to character sniping. Overall, very excited to dig into the new tome and for Sylvaneth to be brought up to speed with more recent tomes.
It does all come down to points, which is why them separating out the warscrolls is such a positive move - it allows for more accurate pricing for the different options.

Don't know how I managed to miss this. It really highlights how stupid and unintuitive the existing woods rules are.
