  1. Trying to decide whether to start IDK or build a Tzeentch army and I already have some Tzeentch models and bought the Battletome recently.

Regarding Lords of Change, which is "better"? A Lord of Change or Kairos Fateweaver? I've looked through the Battletome and they seem very different, presumably that is why they have the same points cost, as they are doing different things. The Oracle of Eternity seems nice but you lose out on the Command Ability, but, having access to all spells close to him seems like a decent thing to, presuming this works with Endless Spells too?

Just looking for input from those people more in the know. I already have the model and it's built as Kairos but my group wouldn't care if I played him as a regular LoC. Should also mention that we're not super competitive, just looking at my options for including a cool birdie.

  2. A question on Eels.  If you, for argument's sake were taking 6 of them in your army, would you prefer a 3/3 split of Morsaar and Ishlaen or would you take 6 of one or the other? Also, if you were taking 6 of one, which would you think would give the best performance?

For extra info, this is what I was looking at, basically the battleforce box with some extras. I also have 240 spare points and wondering if more troops are the order of the day or take a King?

    + Leader +

    Eidolon: Aspect of the Storm

    Isharann Soulscryer

Isharann Tidecaster : General - Isharann

    + Battleline +

Namarti Reavers : 10 Namarti Reavers, Icon Bearer

Namarti Reavers : 10 Namarti Reavers, Icon Bearer

Namarti Thralls : 2x 10 Namarti Thralls, Icon Bearer

    + Other +

Akhelian Allopexes : Akhelian Allopex, Retarius Net Launcher

Akhelian Allopexes : Akhelian Allopex, Razorshell Harpoon Launcher

Akhelian Morrsarr Guard : 2x 3 Morrsarr Guard, Akhelian Guard Command Group

  3. How do you fit Archaon into a StD list? I'm an AoS noob but it looks like he is Everchosen with his own (rather limited) Everchosen options and looking at Slaves to Darkness in Battlescribe you can't add him into a regular list. And, at 2000pts he's outside the points of allies where I'd imagine he'd be front of centre of mortal armies. I'm obviously missing something.

  4. I'm so hyped for Godsworn, when all the Warbands were revealed for this coming season these are the guys I most wanted and glad to see the models look cool. Going to have some fun with these guys. Hopefully they're not out until the New Year so I can finish painting all the current Nightvault releases.

  5. This is why I am considering IDK as my first army, because they're an elite faction. I don't have the time or the inclination to paint 100 basic troops models (if I did I'd be playing DoK). I specifically want something that has a smaller number of models, means I can spend more time painting them to a higher standard, as well as not having to purchase a huge number of models.

  6. Thinking of starting off with a list based off the new battleforce box. I know it's not massively optimised, but this is for me to learn AoS and the army in general. PLus it has models I like. I know it's not got anything to really make use of the Ionrach abilities, but running Volturnos mandates it.

Allegiance: Idoneth Deepkin - Enclave: Ionrach

    LEADERS

Vulturnos, High King of the Deep (280) - General

Eidolon of Mathlann, Aspect of the Storm (400)

    Isharann Tidecaster (100)

    Isharann Soulscryer (100)

    UNITS

    10 x Namarti Thralls (140)

    10 x Namarti Reavers (140)

    6 x Akhelian Morrsarr Guard (320)

    3 x Akhelian Ishlaen Guard (140)

    2 x Akhelian Allopexes (280)

    TOTAL: 1900/2000

    EXTRA COMMAND POINTS: 2 WOUNDS: 102 LEADERS: 4/6 BATTLELINES: 3 (3+) BEHEMOTHS: 0/4 ARTILLERY: 0/4 ARTEFACTS: 0/1 ALLIES: 0/400

Not sure what artefact would be good to take.

  7. I'm looking at picking up my first AoS army soon. I've been playing Warhammer Underworlds and 40k (since 2nd edition). I've been a fan of old fantasy but am returning to GW after a hiatus.

I'm currently looking at Ironjawz and possibly Sylvaneth as my favourites of the "new" forces. I'm likely to be going up against SCE, Nighthaunt or maybe Fyreslayers depending on how one guy goes, Seraphon and possibly LoN. I'm looking for a force that won't roflstomp the enemy but also won't get roflstomped itself. I'm not going to any tournaments so I'm not considering that but am wondering how some of the "older" battletomes hold up against the latest forces out there?

  9. Obviously, deployment varies on which board you choose, so, which boards are people thinking work well with the Gitz? I've been theory-crafting in my head how I'd want to position them all. The Arrerz could be good up front to give you some easy ranged attacks without having to move, you can scurry away if you have to but I think that might be a bad idea as they're not really main damage material.

Squigs up front? That gives you support straight away for Round 1 and if you get adjacent hexes you can either add in the Fanatic or even Zarbag to get some spells off if you have them in hand. I'm just not sure who you'd really want in front as it seems very easy to one-shot them if you don't get the first activation. But, on the flip side, if you receive a first action charge then you're probably going to have lots of support nearby, especially if the boards are set up to your advantage.

  10. Scurry is going to be key to getting the most out of them, or, distraction tactics with the fanatic while you position the rest of your Gobbos. I get the feeling that, even more so than SG or TotBQ this is going to be a warband that relies heavily upon near perfect positioning. If you ****** up your Scurry or Squig Herding those measly 4 activations are going to seem even more restrictive.

  11. If this is an indicator about the way they're going to update Slaanesh then I'm saving all my money for it. I'd love to see reworked Daemonettes but I don't see that happening as we've not seen any of the other basic Daemons reworked at all, outside of the Horrors anyway, thinking about it. I'm back and forwarding between DoK, ID and NH at the moment but that fiend.......... oh baby.

  12. I stopped playing Fantasy as the End Times happened and gave up on GW completely. However, over the past few years they've turned themselves around and so I've returned to the fold with 40k 8th edition and Warhammer Underworlds.

Naturally, this is leading into Age of Sigmar, especially with 2.0 around and my toes dipped in via Shadespire.

In the days of yore I was a Dark Elf devotee and loved me some Witch Elves, so, Daughters of Khaine seem like a good fit for me.

The question I have is, in building a 2k army, are any of the battalions worth the points? The only really cost effective one from my, admittedly unlearned, point of view would be the Cauldron Guard.
