They do this because so many believe this attitude is true and of course GW are going to cash in on it. If people kept playing with models they own, rules changes be damned, GW would eventually figure this out and have to start putting more effort into keeping both new and old players interested in the game.

I just don't understand the inability for people to say to their gaming group, hey I've got this old model I'm going to keep using it in place of the new kit instead. There are probably a few instance where old models are pushing it, especially within the tournament or PUG scene, but most of the time there is no real change to models other than some visual aspect.

Since the announcement of AoS3 at the weekend, I've heard a ridiculous amount of things where people are complaining about some aspect of the hobby which were all solvable by simply telling your opponent what you are intending to do is and it is astonishing to me! I'm not the most social of people, but if you are about to spend 2 hours of your life playing a game with someone, then what harm is there in telling them prior to starting that you are using an old model in place of a new one?

There has got to be a goldmines worth of psychological papers to be written on the weird habits of wargamers!

We call it proxies and in my local meta, you can't use them in tournament games.

When GW update an old WHFB era model nobody seems to care, they rejoice that they get updated models. Stormcast are the most recently released line to get replaced, but GW has also replaced kits from 8th edition WHFB so it's not too different.

I have a huge Stormcast collection (10k+ points, about 80% painted) and look forward to getting more. I know it's a soft reboot of the model line but it doesn't erase my old models from existence. I know the oldcast will be phased out slowly over the next 5+ years and that doesn't bother me.

Rules are temporary, models are forever

I want to be straight. It will be much harder to sell armies if customers will know that after 5 years their collection will not be usable on the table. I know that it's not the end of the world, but still...

Some of the kharadrons - especially protagonists in the books - are good guys so I could see some people going to the Grungni faction and liking the olden ways. At the same time some could be like BIG duardin faction BIG money LET'S GO!

OMG! You already CAN play as a full duardin army with all type of models (1 per 4 + 20% allies) GW should give wave 2 for all duardin factions.

I’m the lonely contrarian who wants Duardin soup! I’d like a tome similar to CoS where Grungni convinces Fyreslayers to assist Dispo in reclaiming their holds and you can run mixed FS/Dispo lists w/Grom and/or Gotrek as General. You can take 1/4 KO or Ironweld as support, leaving KO with their own tome and Ironweld w/Cities.

I’d even go for a Big Waaagh type deal with all Duardin units available and you can acquire Rune prayer points to spend.

I want to swarm the skies with Frigates & Gyros. I want Slayers on Magmadroths charging up the board with slow marching Hammerers in support. Any army wants to step to United Duardin, “let them come” and face all that, plus our artillery. Bring it on!

You still can take 20% of any dwarfs in your main army as allies.

Erm, no? At no point did GW say that new Stormcast meant that Duardin wouldn’t be getting anything. From the beginning of the setting Grungni’s been helping develop new Stormy stuff, so it would make sense for that trend to continue. They made no mention of the Khazadur-something (that big thing he was working on under Chamon), so it means that that’s an entirely different (probably Duardin related) project. Heck, BR: Be’lakor went as far as to include Grombrindal/Grungni himself, and they aren’t gonna casually throw a plot thread like that away.

It’s the literal beginning of the new edition focused on Destruction, so of course they’re gonna hold their horses in introducing the Grungni army. That doesn’t mean it’s never coming.

Why does it make sense to Grungni to help Sigmar instead of his own people Again? Last time if I remember it correctly Grungni was helping him because he saves him and leaves Sigmar with 6 smiths when Relmgate wars start and exile himself for not helping his people(ha-ha!). One thing that really concerns me that this type of plot literally make Be'lakor plan almost useless and remove all drama...

A wild rumour appeared. Couldn't copy the text so just took a screenshot. It's so random to see this pop up on GamingLeaksAndRumours of all places but it is a rumour so might aswell share. Most reads like common assumptions but the Duradin bit is a bit unlikely I reckon, I just can't see it happening.

OP states they "got it from a French worker who translates the text into French for Games Workshop text."

The dwarven part is the most obnoxious, to be honest. Not only Grungni helping Sigmar (AGAIN!) instead of his own people, but at the same time, all dwarves souping together without any real reason and for sure will not get any new models for the next 2-3 years (at best). I see this as bs even if it's true..

Correction: Beasts of chaos were a wild version of chaos in the old world. When AoS started, they were just a line of funky goat-men and their pet monsters, and anything could've been done with them. And I agree that not moving them to destruction has been a missed opportunity.

Their origin story of being created but abandoned by chaos is good and could have stayed, that's a solid origin story, just make them leave chaos in response and decide to ruin everything for everyone.

I fully agree with you. I always thought that it will be logically more appropriate to move BoC to destruction. First of all, the realm, where this faction is originate, is actually the realm of the BEAST. The second is that on part of the BoC tribes actually focus on corruption and the majority focus on destruction. A third reason could easily make Kragnos their leader... alpha mentality.  Beastmens always choose a leader based on their animalistic traits and strength.
And to be honest this is the easiest transition we can imagine. We still could have corrupted Beasmens (Tzaangor, Pestigors and etc.) in Chaos factions and "normal" beasmens in Destruction.

I predict Hashut will pop up outta nowhere and kick Teclis' butt for stealing his Bull iconography to make furry fuel.

Without joking I will be happy to see Hashut with his dwarfs as part of the Dwarven pantheon (in the same role as Morathi)

I'm a bit mad about this. The last 4 white dwarf stories are about Fyreslayers, Ddispossessed, Ironweld and Kharadrons...

If that's true, that means that the pointy-ears can have 4 battletomes (Idoneth, Sylvaneth, Lumineth and DoK) but Dwarfs are going to be souped in one battletome.

Time to sign a new Rune of Mark...

Plus in Ghoulslayer we have Kharadron ships powered by Fyreslayer rune... So it's totally something that already exists in AoS. The only positive thing that I can think about - is Magmadroths with Aether powered cannons, Kharadron flamespiting ships powered by Fyreslayers runes, Troops that can use combination of Fyreslayers runes with buff for 1 battleround and Kharadron garrisoned ships with flyhight.

It’d be a very unwelcome surprise if they souped the Duardin together. I think that aside from all being Duardin, they just don’t share all that much in common, and just lumping them together would be massive waste of design-space both model and ruleswise.

It's just pure speculation right now. I'm not a fan of that idea too but I can clearly see how GW can combine Sylvaneth with Kurnoti, Daughters with Umbaneth, Idoneth with Deepkins (as far as I know Idoneth steel need water aspect) and Dispossessed with KO, FS and Ironwield arsenal. Just add some kind of human faction and stormcast and you will have pretty systematized Order faction.

  11. After I read Wanderer series (white dwarf short stories about Grombridal in Mortal realms) I can tell that we actually can get combined tome for KO, FS, Ironweald arsenal and Dispossessed at some point. Theoretically, IF GW will return Grimnir and Valaya it's totally possible for them to live together. (Arsenal could create ground war machines with aethergold, Dispossessed and Fyreslayers could both capitalized on using rune magic and earth control) For example, in one of the stories dwarf from Ironweald arsenal works in FS forge. Old dwarven grudges are very similar to FS oaths of vengeance and etc. I still think that it's not gonna happen but right now it doesn't look totally impossible.

In one the newest White Dwarf magazine (April issue if I'm not mistaken), Grombridal as the Wanderer fights Morathi in her snake form and in the fight he changes sizes to match her.

Thank you very much for your reply! I read all 4 stories and that was AWESOME!
From what I gather that looks like
    1) Grombidal is a demigod right now (his powers are very close to Morathi's and he directly says that he is not a god)
    2) Grombridal is working as a Grungni agent (he take the body of the dead Fyreslayers Rusmiter "to his maker")
    3) Grombridal can change his size and appearance.
    4) It's safe to say that 90% it was a Grombridal in Be'lakor BR.
The only thing that still concerns me a bit that in the BR Be'lakor sees him with pike+axe and in all stories, he was welding a runic axe.

Having read through it, I definitely think it was Grombindal who assisted the Kharadron and not Grungi. On reflection, quite a few people - Dawi and otherwise - have interacted with Grungi and he's a known, active entity within the world. Visually, Grungi's visage is all over the place - even the Kharadron slap his likeness here, there and everywhere despite few revering him whilst people only instinctively know they should listen to Gromthi without really understanding why. Most notably, literally nobody but Be'lakor seem to recognise him - you'd think the Stormcast at least would know the chap most responsible (after Sigmar) for creating them and their equipment.

Be'lakor also reacts with genuine surprise at realising who he is and refers to him as 'the whitebeard', which is a term used pretty much every scene he appears in to describe him.

Gromthi also refers to the Duardin as 'Dawi' whilst Grungi's always been more fatherly and stuck to the AoS-only terms.

As for Dawi-unity, the final exchange between Gromthi and Humboldsson ends on a sour note wherein it's made apparent the Kharadron only got involved because not doing so would wreck their profits and expect reward by way of further trade/mining-rights with Gromthi vanishing after expressing his dismay they didn't learn anything.

It's still doesn't explain why Be'lakor feared him and why he can change his size. Plus Grungni also knows for his appearance as a white beard dwarf. I think that Grombridal is connected directly to Grungni and have portion of his powers during the final battle.

  14. To be honest I really want to have Hashut and his dwarfs as part of Order faction.(same role as Marathi) As "Father of Darkness" he is the perfect candidate to become part of the shadow realm.

  15. New allegiance ability

    New magic

    New battalions

    New kits:

    1) New tree-revenants dualkit (great weapon/bows)

    2) Spite swarm dualkit (support flying swarm/aggressive ground swarm)

    3) Kurnoth hunter hero with spear( range attack, 2 melee profiles)

    4) Big behemoth butterfly dualkit (big magic butterfly/big battle butterfly)

    5) Butterfly riders dualkit (tree-revenants on butterflies with swords/bows)

-shooting generally no longer works in melee even vs target engaged with

I doubt that this is possible. This rule literally deleting KO from the game.

To be honest this "leak" doesn't look promising. I can't see how this can be added with KO, Tzeench and Seraphon on the table. It will make them too strong. Probably these rules will have some kind of limitation or shooting will be changed in general.

    Valaya dwarves, you mean?

Yes Something like that. To be honest I'm huge fan of Valaya and will be more then happy if GW will return her in any shape or form. And ofc with her faction separate battletome.(Dwarf shield maidens are my dream) I believe that her resurrection could be a task that will unite dwarfs and in the end we could get new faction of dwarfs that will follow her.

FS for Grimnir (aka Doughters and Marathi)

Gholemkins(GK) for Grungni (aka Lumineth and Teclis/Tyrion)

    KO as itself (aka Deepkin)

Something for Valaya (aka Sylvaneth and Alariele)

We even can get darker dwarfs(chaos dwarfs) for Hashut (aka shadow elves and Malekith)
