  1. mmmm , i have like 20 black knights / Hexwraiths kits  from death start collecting boxes , im still thinking which unit is the best for my needs,  for 20 point more HW seems like a obvious choice, but that +1 wound +1 dmg from BK seems ok too

  2. imho NH batallions are not very good, shroudguard is ok .

the main issue with chainguard is the spell, spectral lure, being 6+ is not "autocast" and can be dispelled making the whole batallion useless.

the condemned seem ok,  chainghasts are a subpar unit though

See LoG placed high (8th) in recent GW GT. Would be interesting to see what was run.

GHoN won the whole thing and good to see some regular deadites on here place well as well.

    The future's shyishian purple.

nice!, where we can find those lists?

What is the Nighthaunt answer for Blightkings?  Do we have one?

Hahaha two weeks ago a buffed ten man blightkings wiped a 30 man grimghast, then my opponent rolled double turn,  nurgle may be the worst NH matchup

Last time I've seen a list made in it, I almost thrown. It's looks like a mess of useless info, maybe good for players who are starting to play, but too bulky for putting a list together on the fly.

hahaha " good for players who are starting"  , wtf, really wtf

is not as simple as roster builder, which is a mess

They were kinda baddish, but they're a fair bit better since they got an extra attack in the legions book.  Still kind of fragile, but they hit reasonably ok on the charge, especially with a few buffs on.  Tack on +1 attack from a vamp lord's or wight king's CA and another +1 for lord of nagashizaar and suddenly they've putting out a rather respectable 8 attacks each.  Respectable against hordes of chaff at least - good armor saves still present serious problems for them, and any amount of rend in return cuts them down like they were skeletons.  I've heard of people having some tournament success with big units (15+) supported by a mounted wight king in a deathmarch.  A fair number of wounds, extra fast with the formation bonus, they have an easy time getting that bravery debuff banner in range if you're running t-gheists or the like to take advantage of it, tolerable offense out of the box, stack buffs pretty well, and the same battalion wight king who buffs their speed can also carry a couple attack buffs.

I personally view them as usable but not exactly great.  I generally saw them as better than hexwraiths, but that was before the recent hexwraith points drop which may or may not tip the balance between the two units a bit.  Hexwraiths don't  have the banner or musician, but between rend and frightful touch they have much better attacks, with fly they have better movement, and with a 4+ ethereal they have much better durability as well.  No good formations for them, not in the legions, anyway, but if you're not running deathmarch you might be better off with the wraiths these days.  I'd reccomend putting just the horses together and play testing a couple rounds for comparison purposes before making a final decision on which unit you want.

Dude that was like the best answer ever, thanks!

Graveguard = smaller bases. Battleline in LoN. Compulsory in deathmarch. Better at killing elites/monsters since Reapers need the 5+ models for reroll hit and raw 4+ doesnt cut it for hammer units. Can be buffed to 5 attacks each

I think graveguard are still expensive, i think they should be 12 pts, especially since they are given dwarven movement.  But its a step in the right direction.

yeah, grimG can be buffed in several ways also,  for me is the staying factor and movement that turns the scale.

4+ ethereal is too powerful, graveG have almost nonexistent saves.

but i agree , if GraveG were 120points ill pick them over grimG for the same slot

  8. even with the cost increase GrimG are far superior than GG , twice the movement, more range, way better save, for 20 points more is a no brainer.

GG are battle in GHoN so threres that.

morghast point deacrease is interesting though

People say Arkhan wasn't spectacular before so I do wonder if he is worth it now.

Is the battalion worth it at all? The extra survivability and spells seem rather nice to max out your heroes. It's not like there aren't cheap battleline choices to weigh it out either.

While quite expensive i think that magic is the most dominant aspect of the game, so Arkham AND the batallion still seems like a solid choice, also purple sun spam

True, its a lot harder against deatharmies but possible. On the other side of the cake its ridiculus against skaven. But thats not half of your games. Most demon armies got mortals mixed in and tzeencth have beastbirds. With up to 8 screams at minus 2-8 in bravery even bravery 10 needs to worry

yeah , my experience is vs nurgle (maybe worst match up for nighthaunt/Lon) and Seraphon =(

My 2000p list remember, work in progress:

    Reikenor

    Necromancer

    2x Banshee

    Dreadblade, general, wraithbow

    Mercenary: Abhorrant Archregent

    40 skeletons

    20 Dreadshcytes

    2x5 wolves

    10 bladeghasts

    Mercenaries: 3 Cryps flayers

Endless spells: horrorghast, Lauchon,  suffocating gravetide

    1 extra cp

I've tried bravery bomb two games in a Row and the truth Is that's average at best, to much investment in something where half of your opponents have b10.  Gravesites are nice though

Game 3: Better part of valour ws Idoneth (tidecaster, soulrender, 6 spear eels, 3 spear eels, 2x3 Shield eels, gemenidis, akhelian king)

I like this matchup. The bravery 6 eels are tasty. I deployed my skeletons in a large ring (contesting 2 objectives) with reikenor, necro and reapers inside. My banshees were placed at each ride in the open as bait and to make incoming tp harder. The wolves screened  the left side banshee. My opponent tookthe first turn and masscharged. On my right 3 shield eels attacked my banshee but she survived with a wound. On my left 6 speareels (from tp) and 3 shield eels charged my wolfscreen banshee and skeletons. The banshee died and so did wolves. I killed nothing in return. 3 eels gäller a charge.

In my turn one I cast horrorghast with reikenor and put it next to both eel units to my left. I cast minus armour spell at the big eel unit. The rightmost banshee withdraw from the eels bit they was still locked in combat with skeletons. The reapers charged both eel units to the left. They killed twofrom the big unit and the 4 remaining ran away! One of the shield eels also died between reapers and skeletons and his remaining friends also ran. I won the priority role and the banshee screamed at the eels on the right and killed one. The other two flew later. The grimghasts killed Another eel unit and soulrender. Reikenor charged and killed the tidecaster. After his king made some carnage in turn 2-3 he was killed by reikenor blowing the candle. 19-1 to me.

I placed 2nd in the tournament only one tp behind the winners (a combined fyreslayers and nurgle full tp army).

    nice!

how did the banshees ranged attack performed? with all the bravery debuffs?

With the power-creep their raw stat-line to points is even worse.  I have been particularly happy with how Battle:LoN gives them potential in games.  LoG has allot of options for leadership shanking, haven’t felt the pressure to squeeze out that extra bonus.

Do you have something in mind that might need it?

Dont know, stacking -2 b seems powerful, but morghast are kinda overpriced,

So dont know if pushing bravery debuff worth 220 points

This entire conversation is moot anyway since overflow winds don't just magically evaporate.

I have a pile of wounds to allocate.

    First one kills hero.

He is slain, but not removed and instead heals one HP.   It is the same model.  He was not replaced.

Then there are still wounds left to be allocated and since the unit you were allocating to is still there, you have to allocate to the hero and he dies again.

Thinking it works the other way is wishful thinking.

i don see it that way,

you allocate all wounds, models die

then you resolve cicle of the storm

5 lord arcanum is 900 pts already. You'll never see anyone taking 5 LA. The castellant lantern was stackable before, no one abused that because you have waaaay too much things to take in your army before trying silly and useless things like that

yeah ,  thats true, in that scenario, you just want to focus killing lord arcanums
