I guess we will wait and see unless that is a typo?

Well if you play 40k my understanding is Defilers/Soulgrinders are of better value though I have no experience personally to speak of.  I felt it was a bone to throw at Slaanesh for Mortals, etc before StD came out to give them an HoS mechanic.

I'm assuming Daemonsteel is the Soulgrinder, I've toyed with it but I want to run it with Depraved Drove.  I used to run two Soulgrinders in 8th.

Yes daemon steel contingent is 3 soul grinders +1 to hit + 1 sv , super powerful.

In theory is my only answer to fyreslayer heart guard , snipe the sh*t out characters to null the absurd 4+ feel no pain

Um no.  No one has in 5 years called a Battalion a unit.

Certain people need clarification if the WD printed Battalions are still allowed being that this year's GHB didn't specifically exclude them.

Rules change year to year, as far as I'm concerned unless there is a printed FAQ saying "older battalions printed in WD that aren't in the current GHB are no longer allowed in Matched Play" they are fair game.

How viable is a heavy calavry army with the new battalion to give them all MW splashes off of charging? Ive been thinking about making a list using a load of knights and chariots.

i did that in a small tourny,   4 units of 5 knights,  3 charriots and some heroes

versus mid tiers and lower armies is very powerful,   i even won vs daughters of khaine,

versus top tier,  like fyreslayers,  is auto loss,  no way of taking objectives , your unit will bounce.

against heartguard for example the only way is varaguanrd or somehow snipe the heroes giving the buffs

Hey, I have a general question about S2D. Does this army have any access to shooting? I usually prefer shooty armies but this one does not seem to have good shooting units, unless you consider alliance with Tzeentch, correct?

try  3 soulgrinders with Syll’Esske battalion "steel" something , +1 to hit and +1 SV , thats hedonites od slaanesh but almost all unit in S2D can be used there

The Gaunt Summoner on foot isn't part of STD's battletome, so the answer would be no (except as an ally). Only the Gaunt Summoner on Disc is in it.

Then why archaon can be taken in all four specific gods books without being in that battletome?

  6. i agree 100% about point reductions army wide,

varanguard our most powerful unit is "ok-good"  with Archaon, a 800point character otherwise they suck.

thats awful given that we really need non-character high damage units.

anyway, my next project is going to be Archaon and friends

The Knights are not the problem. If you run 10 in one unit and have a demon mount hero and a regular Chaos Lord around they are deadly in a charge.

Problem with that is we have to play despoilers for that with the d3 command point per turn. It also excludes the demon princes because they are not contributing anything to that combo.

We are just back to square one, where we play Despoilers without Despoilers.

    This is really no fun

on charge with ensorcelled weapons 16 3+3+ rend1 d1 is not enough to fight same level units.

sure they can wipe chaff but i want my knights on par with , lets say .... HEARTHGUARD

As sooner as people realize StD is a letdown as easier it gets for us.

I said i now couple of times the book is written without any inspiration and the rulez are only there to have rules.

Everything remotely cool or synergizing has been removed right at the getgo. I don't know it's on purpose or what but it really stings having a trainwreck like that right after the Bonereapers. We were due for a real stinker after so many good books anyways. It's just sad it hit us.

So don't be discouraged or mad... just keep playing and have fun

    thanks man, my thoughts exactly,

we don really have the stopping power and what is worse we don have staying power, 4+ ? ,  current age of sigmar is full o rend -1 or better

im going to try archaon + friends ( greater daemons).

its a shame bc  i really like chaos knights models  but is no use if they are wiped by everything in the game.

ALSO 4+ IGNORE WOUND SHOULD BE BANNED , WTF GW, WHAT WERE YOU THINKING

  9. *the good thing about chaos chariots is the alpha strike potential,  taking ruinbringers warband guarantees first turn.

*then theres a warlord trait, where you can move 1d3 units 5 inches or so.

*then with chaos lord on demonic mount command ability you can give each chariot reroll charge +1 hit buff  (this list run a lot of command points 1d3 from artifact and 1 for battalion)

chariot's default ability lets you run and charge and has base 12 inch movement. so 5'' from warlord trait 12'' from movement, 1d6'' for running + reroll charges

  10. i have a gameplay question,

if a chaos charriot in ruinbringer warband charges a enemy unit,  which abilities trigger first? , swift dead or ruinbringer warband trigger?

they trigger at the same time?

what happend if my opponent remove some models with the first trigger and then with the second trigger im out of range

Detective on the case: This was posted in the DoK thread. Not sure if it was the same Event but there is a 4-1 dok Player who lost in last round. So i guess the winning list played nurgle dp abuse.

Just came 3rd in a 30 man event this weekend. Lost on table 1 round 5 to a slaves to darkness army that focused on disallowing me to do things using kairos, be'lakor, and a spell that prevents you from moving. Then he just stacked the nurgle daemon prince command ability a few times per turn on one of his 3 units of marauders (who thought that ability should stack?), teleported to whatever unit of mine he wanted to die, nearly autocharged (the only way to fail a 9 inch charge is to roll snake eyes. Again makes me ask who thought of this) and made my unit slap itself to death. Still, game was maybe the closest game I've ever had and I was a single chaos warrior away from winning the event. Other armies I played were a trogg based gloomspite force, beastclaw, berserker swarm and gotrek fyreslayers, and summoning seraphon. But fair warning to everyone out there- until that command ability is faq'd watch out for it! It's absolutely brutal. hallelujah, its been fixed!

Also, please dont take this as whining. I had a great time and he was a good opponent. Just wanted to share this (unfortunate) discovery I've made.

edit: jubilation for a slightly too late FAQ
