  1. Personally I find Gotrek much more of a dilemma than Nagash (in LoN), if I was playing against Nagash and really wanted him gone (and this could be achieved) I'd just charge him with 4 Morghasts with Halberds, -2 rend 4 attacks each in grand host, that's a potential 48 damage and he'd only be having a 5+ save.

The little dwarf can reroll saves, halves damage allocated to him and has a 4+ against everything.

I'm sorry if people have had negative experiences playing against Nagash but I really do not think he is that strong outside Petrifex.

  2. My regular opponent loves telling me Abhorash and all the Blood Dragons are just FEC now. Infuriates me beyond belief!

I know Gotrek is a bit of a special case but I would love the other grand alliances to get a special character in a similar vein; Abhorash for Death, Sigvald perhaps for chaos and Skarsnik maybe for destruction?

Also as has been said before, if they made Nagash a shard of (or similar) it wouldn't fill so weird fielding him.

  3. Nagash could do with his save being unrendable and Morikhaine working for mortal and normal wounds too and probably should have access to all the spells from the two lores in LoN. Call it 1000 points and be done with it.  I'd prefer him to go back to 800 in all honesty but can't see that ever happening again.

I would not care so much about power creep if it would not mess up the fluff. Aren´t Stormcast Eternals meant to have super power and wreck a skeleton with ease?

Liberator Warblades: 2 Attacks 3+/4+ no rent, 1 damage
Mortek Guard Sword: 2 Attacks 3+/4+ rent -1, 1 damage

    😖

Nagash made better Stormcasts than Sigmar. Which makes sense given Sigmar isn't renowned for Necromancy, is there any lore that explains how Sigmar learnt how to make Stormcasts? Going from a barbarian king to a adept necromancer/scientist seems a bit of a stretch lolz.

So the General's Handbook is immanent, and OBR have been out just long enough, and had just enough representation at events before the Covid crisis shut the competitive scene down that I expect we will see some adjustments.  What are everyone's hopes and fears?  for me:

I hope to see points decreases for:

    • Vokmortian
    • Soulreaper
    • morghasts
    • immortis guard

all of which I think are possible.  On the other hand, I fear we'll see increases for:

    • Katakros
    • Mortek Guard
    • Crawler

All of which, again, strike me as possible.

I'm especially worried about Mortek Guard.  They're basically the foundation of the army, there's not really a way to avoid fielding a bunch of them, so even a slight increase there would hit very hard.

I actually think the Harvester might get an increase over the Crawler, seems to have more benefits to the army overall. I love Morghasts but have given up trying to figure out what GW will do with them, most people take stalkers anyway so unless they become cheaper than stalkers who  knows.

  6. As someone that has never liked warhammer elves (other than the hilarious turn of events for Malekith in the end times that had a lot of the elfdom crying), two things stand out; Eltharion and Teclis are bargains for their points costs.  Heck you could ally Gotrek in and have him and Eltharion butcher everything.

I also lol'd at Tyrion not being in part of it, I reserve a special hated for that womanizing Elf!

Hi, I am a Nighthaunt Player and I only play casual games with Friends. I think of starting an OBR Army. Can you please Check the following list with the things I Like to buy. Wounds: 116

Helm of the Ordained on the leige Kavalos would be a good shout to buff the riders or the stalkers but you would need a battalion to get the extra artefact.  You've almost got the mortisan trident battalion, you'd just need a soulreaper in there iirc, Which you'd have the points to do minus one of the harvesters.

Endless spell wise bone tithe shrieker is the best of the bunch. Spell wise I'd go arcane command and protection of Nagash especially if one of the wizards is going to be your general.

I'd actually prefer a system where any hero that has a command ability can use it once per turn or something similar. simple and effective.

Anything to speed things up is a win imo.

I also think that each hero should get an artifact regardless of battalions but that's another topic..

This! I miss the customisation you had with heroes in oldhammer. I’m not too keen on how artefacts work at the moment either and don’t see why we can’t just pay additional points for them. Seriously the LoN battalions are pretty bad and taking one of them just to get another artefact is madness. Which also feeds into command points, if Nagash is on the table you’re using his command ability almost every time and it’s hard to generate more than 1 a turn in that army so blood feast is a no go. :(

  9. I don't hold out much hope, in oldhammer Vampire Counts had next to no shooting (banshess, zombie dragon and terrorgheist iirc) options whatsoever but that was made up for in other areas such as Vampires being really, really good depending on how far you wanted to kit them out.

  10. Really sad news to hear Josh Reynolds has left, his books for AoS were the only ones I have purchased.

I'm still sore that Blood Dragon got cancelled, way back before the end times was a thing.  The other two books in that series were fantastic and really gave an insight into the different master vampires, shame it will never be completed. :(

  11. So long as your not planning on winning any tournaments, I've found it helps to have a normal vamp as the general purely so he can hang back and bring units back. This list is guilty of using 2 characters which I take it you'd prefer not to. But they do act as a great distraction from your actual general.

Again this list probably won't win any tournaments but I like Morghasts and Vhordrai and got Manfred as an xmas present so been running him a bit recently.

    Allegiance: Grand Host of Nagash

    Leaders
    Vampire Lord (140)
    - General
    - Command Trait: Master of Death
    - Artefact: Ethereal Amulet
    - Lore of the Vampires: Soulpike
    Vampire Lord (140)
    - Mount: Nightmare
    - Lore of the Vampires: Vile Transference
    Mannfred Mortarch of Night (340)
    - Lore of the Dead: Overwhelming Dread
    Prince Vhordrai (480)
    - Lore of the Vampires: Amaranthine Orb

    Battleline
    20 x Chainrasp Horde (160)
    5 x Dire Wolves (70)
    5 x Dire Wolves (70)

    Units
    5 x Black Knights (120)
    4 x Morghast Archai (420)
    - Spirit Halberds

Endless Spells / Terrain / CPs
    Extra Command Point (50)

    Total: 1990 / 2000
    Extra Command Points: 1

    Wounds: 109

  12. I think any lore where the majority of spells after being successfully cast do not then require you to roll to see if the spell goes off or not. (Can't remember the names but there's a couple in LoN where it's 7+ to cast followed by the need to roll a 4+ or similar for the spell to actually go off). I just find it a bit irksome that you cast the spell the opponent fails to unbind it (which is great) but then the spell fails to go off due to the extra roll needed to get it to take effect.

  13. Had my first game with them last night with this list:

     Allegiance: Ossiarch Bonereapers

    Leaders
    Mortisan Boneshaper (130)
    - General
    - Trait: Mighty Archaeossian
    - Artefact: Godbone Armour
    - Lore of Mortisans: Arcane Command
Vokmortian, Master of the Bone-tithe (180)

    Battleline
    10 x Mortek Guard (130)
    - Nadirite Blade and Shield
    10 x Mortek Guard (130)
    - Nadirite Blade and Shield

    Units
    2 x Morghast Harbingers (210)
    - Spirit Halberds
    2 x Morghast Harbingers (210)
    - Spirit Halberds

    Total: 990 / 1000
    Extra Command Points: 0
    Allies: 0 / 200
    Wounds: 55

Played the scenario where your objective is worth 1 point the two centre line objectives 2 and the enemy 4.  Had the bone Tithe Nexus as well. Was a bit worried about a potential lack of RDP's but coped quite well until Vokmortian bit the dust. Have to say Morghast Harbingers moving 12 inches and with -3 rend impressed me a lot more than I thought they would (Petrifex ability and the generic ability). The extra move range and large charge enabled me to wipe out a unit of Kunoth and unit of tree revenants sat on his objective. One morghast died but the other one bagged me 8 points over two turns before being killed and one me the game.

I know they aren't well thought of compared to stalkers but they certainly did the business for me. It was just a fun list of what models I have right now, in no way meant to be competitive.

I just dont understand these kind of Feelings... The pace GW is spreading out awesome stuff is incredible.

Just would have liked it not to be two order armies,  one order and one destruction would have been good. Also I have a burning hatred for Aelves...

  15. Morghasts surely do more damage? Less attacks (if using halberds) but higher rend and damage.  In my experience rend is everything (obviously not applicable to nighthaunt) .And for me the models are nicer looking!
