There is one thing that I miss.

If the regiments of renown are going to be Made to Order and there is even an Slayer army of infamy in the arcane journal, it would be ace to see the Long Drong's pirates again.

I'm not so sure about a Slayer Army of Infamy anymore. The lack of plastic suicidal stunties may have forced the designers to think about other options (norses and engineers?).

I know that wasn't a problem back in the Storm of Chaos, but it would be nowadays.

While I am not overly interested in Greenskins, the Idea of a Troll army has a certain appeal. Will be keeping an eye out for when the Journal comes along.

Yeah, I think the Troll Horde is going to be absurdly popular. Maybe not to the levels of Exiled Bretonians, which seems to be the default Bretonian list nowadays, but close enough (also way less competitive, but that won't stop many o&g players).

  3. I know I mentioned this in the main thread, but I'm really curious about what armies of infamy we will get. Karak-Kadrin seems a given, but they can surprise us with the second one.

I also expect to see Thorgrim as a prince, having adventures around the (old) world, most likely in resin. And of course the King on Shield, something that at this point will surprise no one.

Dwarfs are one of those factions that I love but I don't see myself collecting, but I'm always ready to be seduced by those beardy ****** if they present me a fun army of infamy and some cool models.

  4. Enough about humies, stunties and pointy ears...This is the thread to talk about Da Boyz, the Orc and Goblin tribes, from the nomadic Waaaghs to the Troll Hordes.

Here we can have a nuanced debate about how to give a proper krumping, plus any other topic greenskin-related.

    Let the Waaagh begin!

The gnome thing was also on the same day that we saw the goose and the event was announced. I'd have to dig back to look for the order of the posts but again it was a reasonably safe guess

I have to disagree about gnomes being a safe guess. We should always be cautious about rumour mongers, of course, but I think Whitefang the Second has earned some credit.

They can't deny something they've no idea bout. I doubt the social media team (person?) has much more insight into the GW's plans than we do.

They totally can reasure costumers that BoC will stay, there's no reason for them not to deny it and let people get discouraged from buying more miniatures...unless doing so will make them look bad when the culling/"reinvention"  happens, specially if it's in short term.

I asked Warhammer community directly on twitter and got a surprisingly instant reply. Basically a no comment, but I'm surprised they didn't just ignore me. Screenshot_20240208-211448.png.ec57195a337483b73503588f86e11b78.png

Maybe it's my confirmation bias, but i find telling that they didn't outright deny it, which i think it's the usual move on these situations.

  8. Often I prefer to work in silence, but I also have several playlists to listen to while I paint or assemble, usually OSTs, from either movies or videogames: Conan the barbarian, Plannescape Torment, Elder Scrolls (usualy Morrowind) Journey...
Rogue Hobbies have a video of tunes of her own making with a 16-.bit jrpg vibe which I also find perfect for that.

More "energic" sounds like Power Metal are usually reserved for driving or house chores, but whenever I really need to lift mty spirit for painting I usually go with classics like Rhapsody or Nocturnal Rites, although sometimes I use that time to try some new band.

Beasts of Chaos are going to become Legends. Very shortly they will not exist in AOS as a supported product as they are integrated fully into Old World.

Random Lord Of The Rings Hobbit model getting release: Troll with catapult from the Battle Of The Five Armies.

I can see GW ignoring BoC in AoS like they did with other factions in times of Fantasy, but openly axing them? Not saying isn't true because you seem to know what you say, but seems...too bold, to say it politely.

I mean, it's not worst than axing an entire setting, so obviously they're capable of that, but still, are you sure they won't update/replace BoC with a different range of miniatures?

So, we know what retro models GW is bringing out from the mothballs for Orcs and Goblins. What is on your wishlist regarding the other factions? Any old sculpts you'd like to see as MTO?

Not exactly what you're asking, but I'd love if the Empire had back halflings, ogres and imperial dwarfs. Not because the actual models ( I probably won't collect Empire anyway) but just for the fact they'll be there. It would feel right and properly warhammery.
But I'm just a nostalgic, not gonna lie.

Oh! And Eltharion on Stormwing. It's only right after we got the shaman on wyvern.

I love the Dryads. Fun to build and paint and forgiving of my bad technique in both.

As others have pointed out they fit in well with the whole range including the newer stuff.

I don't think they'll be replaced as such, my only concern is they may be dropped from AoS Sylvaneth to move to TOW Wood elves.

I don't think you should worry about that. Older miniatures will probably end in ToW as they're renewed, but they're not going to update any unit with the specific purpose of leaving the old one for ToW.

I'm gonna say one of each per 1000pts. It could be read either way. That's how I'm gonna play it anyway. With the 25% points restriction on Rare you could only ever fit in 2 cannons and 1 wheel anyway. And if the Empire can be rockin' 6 grand cannons and 2 steam tanks, I think the old world can handle a extra doomwheel/cannon.

Btw, I would also ignore that moronic limit on assassins, engineers and priests. It's something they added in the last minute before releasing the pdfs and they clearly messed it up. Until they give us an errata I'm gonna ignore it.

I agree that the list feels somewhat more restrictive than needed. Assasins at the very least should be on their own 0-1/1000 limit without having to compete with warlocks or priests, who do open your options for units and warmachines.

I can see now what you mean but I still think what I said is the correct interpretation.

For now I will err in the side of caution and take the more restrictive interpretation. I still have plenty of funny stuff to deploy within my collection.

An obvious example here is how Dwarfs have Hatred (Orcs and Goblins), when in the old times they had Hatred (Orcs and Goblins, Skaven). Personally if I ever start a Dawi army and play a Skaven player I'd try to houserule it that they get their old Hatred back (though I dunno about the ettiquette of bringing back a rule that gives a solid advantage against a certain faction).

As a Skaven player I'd offended if your dwarfs didn't hate my rats. I defend the true children of chaos did far more damage to the dwarfen empire than the greenskin.

To be fair, I always found the dwarfs a hard match, but I don't think "hate" made such a difference, nor will that change my stance anyway.

Especially once their relative AoS factions have replaced their current models.

I mean, as the ranges get AoSified there's little reason not to keep profiting from the old stuff in ToW. Seems like a no-brainer to me, although that obviously will take years.

Worst case scenario these pdf would be a great starting point for the community to work with as the game goes on.
