I play a treelord ancient in my list which I know he can be hit or miss, so if the Phoenix increased by say 20 points I would take ancient out. Then add in branchwych 10 dryads and some endless spells

Yeah I can only agree with that, I think what really makes our dryad heavy lists very strong (because they're more typically run in Harvestboon or Winterleaf) is two big factors -
1) We can nearly always guarantee deciding first / second, there really isn't many other one drops if any right now .
2) Forest Folk lets you totally re-deploy your 70/80 dryads, which is just out of this world. Being able to deploy in one way, then totally switch up to play only on 4 tiles, you can grab all the objectives and pin a opponent in, you can alpha hard with things like cogs and warsinger. The way the Dryads heavy lists work right now massively suit a low shooting horde meta, which also allows things like Alarielle sign as damn she's easy to kill.
Think the beauty of all the lists is you can have say 3 winterleaf armies and all can be slightly different depending on what sort of style the player has and also if they like particularly like a model .
Hence why think we are not in a poor state

I was hoping you all would give me your thoughts on these two lists. I’ve played Dreadwood religiously and I’ve done quite well with it. I’d now like to branch out
Gnarlroot
The goal behind this is to setup a big default wood, acorn a wood, summon a wood - in optimum locations. Drop my 30 dryad unit in a large wood in front of what I think will come at me hardest. Alarielle summons 20 dryads into the other wood. Branchwraith summons 10 dryads into the other wood. Sistersof the Thorn buff the most viable dryad unit
its very much of the stall game - id say it plays most similarly to death in a way.
I probably should drop Alarielle for some stronger units but I love the model and her abilities so I’ll try to make this work
The other I’d like to try is Winterleaf (even though my Syls are a firery autumn theme)
The idea behind this one is just dryads in ya face. Deploy everything defensively. Do all 3 different wood placements. Cast throne of vines, cast cogs. Then redeploy all my dryads, in woods, in yo face with the general behind the main block. They then only have to make a 6” charge with a cp reroll.
I look forward to teating these lists out and will let you all know how they go. In the meantime, I’d like to know what y’all think and ways the lists could be better optimised
cheers
I’m using something similar to secound list. But running a frostheart Phoenix in it which can be pretty nasty

Couple of weeks to my first tournament at Kirton hoping to represent us ok. Only few more models till finished painting. Question is anyone set theirselves big targets on painting to achieve for an event?

Have thought about taking the treelord ancient out of my winterleaf army. Replacing him by making a unit of dryads into 20 branchwych and few endless spells. Any suggestions on spells? Here is my reviewed list. The use of endless spells is because I do t have enough dryads yet but also think could be effective.

That’s true cogs are partially good for us
-
@Lhw have you thought about including geminids? For potentially extra minus 1 to hit?
-
Very true I would play the same.
-
Yea I do was planning on summoning them in? If you summon the 20 dryads do they get the winterleaf bonus?

Not sure I rate the Ancient in there, truth be told. Outside of Gnarlroot he seems overpointed.
The list I was playing worked on taking position turn 1, then drawing enemy into the woods. Dryads deal with hordes, magic and Alarielle with big guys. Plus Phoenix is sheer filth.
I have considered the ancient or not . Can never have enough dryads . Got tournament in a month so may just have to stick with him till can get something different
-
Sorry it’s mistake shouldn’t be in there

This was me. It was great fun. Full list is below. It's very tanky, as you say, but it's also surprisingly killy. I got 8k kill points in total, I think. Dryads can kill when generating additional attacks on a 5+ and re rolling to wound.
I also could have come 2nd if I wasn't an idiot in the final game, on stream ?.

This is good as running similar list but with an ancient

Hi there I’m running a winterleaf battalion and have a rules query. The units alarielle and branchwraith summon, do they gain the benefits of the battalion ie dryads extra attacks on 6’s
-
I’ve been playing they can’t but if you can would be amazing
-
Winterleaf seem to be doing well at the moment.

Very tu

I'm often not happy with both those smaller units... so I can only cry when I see 3x10 dryads...
Very true with the dryads although in winterleaf dryads are bit more solid

Okay fair enough. I've used Winterleaf for a while now and really like it. The re-rolling has always impressed me. But the Frostheart is a powerful warscroll indeed.
Cool does seem powerful ability will try frostheart but will keep in mind trying pure sylvaneth
-
No the ability wouldn’t affect the frostheart. But feel the frostheart strength could our way that a little bit especially with it being very magic heavy at the moment .
-
No not meant to be there lol. That list minus comet

I am trying to search the internet for a "Batalion breakdown" of some sort without any success. More specificly, for the Winterleaf and Ironbark batalions.
Winterleaf:
- what order unit/s do you use? Any good synergies?
- how many Dryads do you play with usually? And follow up q...20 or 30 man blobs?
Ironbark:
- same here, what units? Synergies?
Thank you in advance!
If this helps this is my winterleaf list I am planning on using
-
If you want to go heavy dryads winterleaf battalion could be a good option? Makes dryads even more tanky

Making them do that I would then have control of geminids . Gives the more choices .
Mayb could swap shackles for something like the swords?
