Vargheists also benefit from the Might of the Crimson Keep rule from the Kastelai dynasty (vampire units gain bonuses for destroying enemy units), so that might be worth considering if you're not concerned about filling out the battleline slots.

I thought about that! I don't have the book yet so I wasn't sure if they still had the vampire keyword or not!

New Units: Newborns of Behemat, little gargants the size of a rhino who crawl on the battlefield exploring the world with their mouth, like babies do. Their tiny teeth are growing, and they need to chew on heads!

...sadly it would be a bit too much morbid to be able to blast a baby out of the game with a rocket battery.

In all fairness, a lot of Ork Boyz are essentially infants and they get blasted into chunky salsa all the time. Maybe it's different because they're having fun?

  3. So the current belief is Hobbit-style greenskins, between orruks and grots. Sort of "lean orcs", I guess. Swamp or cavern dwellers. And the name of these friendly gits is "Cruelboys".

I wonder what will make them stand apart as a Destruction faction from Gloomspite and Warclans? Would they even be a separate faction, or an additional "third subtype" in Warclans?

  4. I don't like to anticipate anything until I've seen it myself but I have to admit I have a powerful interest in Silent People as a faction and will be so disappointed it they aren't it.

Having said that, twisted LOTR-style goblins do appeal to me as well. So I feel like I could get behind that.

  5. I'm going to add to this, if it please you all.

The totem on Kragnos' base is called out in the Warhammer Community article, and while there is no specific mention of the Silent People there is an implication.

We have a number of insectoid Rumour Engine images and while the Sylvaneth Hatbug is off the table there are still a number of suspicious ones remaining.

And then there's the new army trailer. Skaven and Beasts players have been pretty vocal about wishing for updates, and many people have been clamoring for fimir, but I think there's a case to be made for a Silent People reveal some time in the future.

Gosh, I hope so. I'd be all over that.

I have beheld the births of negative-suns and borne witness to the entropy of entire realities… Unto my experience, Aldaris, all that you’ve built here on Aiur is but a fleeting dream. A dream from which your precious Conclave shall awaken, finding themselves drowned in a greater nightmare."

Given that skeletons and zombies got neither warscroll nor points updates, I am fairly certain there will be new warscrolls all around once the Soulblight tome hits. There is no world where skeletons and zombies stay exactly the same in the next book.

Harder to predict what that means for the character models. They might just be bad, which would be normal for subgame models. They make good alternate sculpts for proxying in any case.

I pretend they're in Witness Protection.

This looks very much like a Centigor, the realm seems to be Ghur, maybe we will finally get some Update. "A God awakens" Could this be Morghur?

It seems to tie into Beastgrave and the book will be called "Broken Realms: Kragnos". Who Kragnos is, there's no way of knowing yet.

Quick question! Does a Lord of Pain in an Invaders army unlock Myrmidesh/Symbaresh as battleline simply by being one of the three generals, even if it's not the one that gets given the command trait?

I think a Warhammer Community article made a point to say having a Lord of Pain as one of the Invaders generals unlocked them, yes.

Found it. I know it's just a Community article and they don't really deal with rules but it's something .

Whats the best way to play StD ? Idolators?

I don't play competitively but from what I've read Idolators aren't a good Dread Legion (though the last errata certainly helped them). For the best list I think Marauders are pretty popular, and your choice of Legion determines what else you field.

Thx a lot, i have a question about idolators.

Can i give chaos mark to warcry units lile untamed beasts? Thx a lot

In Idolators, you can give a mark to Warcry units. It HAS to be the same mark as your Idolator Lord, however. Which means you need to have an Idoloator Lord, naturally.

So in Hordes of Chaos 6th ed, was there a means to play a solo DoC list?  I thought there was and at the time your general dictated the troops choice (back when  you could Mortal, Daemon, Beast and other types got pushed to Elite)?

I know there was a PDF with the pre-model Be'Lakor list that ended up being fairly similar to the 7th ed book.

Interesting to hear they have more permanence in the stories.  I didn't notice that but maybe just didn't clue in as they've more been additional characters milling around.  I guess it makes sense since the realms have mostly been under attack and sway of Chaos and now we are in a situation of fighting back for "humanity".   The historical lines of AoS got muddle and mishandled with the poor launch and campaign books being so costly at the time.

If I remember correctly, you couldn't field daemon-only armies until the Storm of Chaos book. Your general choice DID reflect what counted as Core choices but I don't recall the specifics.

You want my advice, having seen this kind of pessimism for every single new book GW has released for the past 10 years I've been playing competitively? Wait. Play a bunch of games. Try things. You'll find - as is almost always the case - that most of your pessimism is unjustified.

The period of mourning that follows initial rules leaks is as inevitable as the dawn

Wait my army would do well somewhere? 😮

I think it is ironic that people get so up in arms about power-creep but when a new army is released with balanced and well mediated rules they get even more upset. I can say that Hedonites look downright scary next to my S2D army and would have fun fighting my BCR. Are they as powerful as Lumineth or KO no and for that I am glad. Both of those armies seem really fun and interesting but I am put off by how powerful they are. Am I sad that Slaangor aren't an auto include ruleswise, somewhat but I also look forward to seeing them find their niche in Hedonites and BoC, even if it is redundant or underwhelming. They look fantastic and will find a place in the army even if it is one better served by something else. People tell me to play Archaon or Marauders but I am trying to find points for either some Varanguard or a Soulgrinder because that's what I'd rather build and paint. Also for the Beastclaw army I am just beginning to build, I am getting Gnoblars, not because they are good but because they are cute and funny.

    Get out of my brain.
