@Thalassic Monstrosity This picture is from the old Wood Elves 8th edition book - I cant give any painting advice but you have a better view of these beautiful Rangers
Thanks for the close-up; I can get a much better idea of what the colors are!

Living City escaped being corraled into a subforum with the other Cities. Quick, run amok!
But seriously though, can I get some painting advice? I saw this picture this morning and I love the way the Wildwood Rangers look, but I'm unsure how they were painted! (The colors used, I mean) If I could get any advice I'd love to hear it!

Nomad Prince General with Iron Oak Artisan Command Trait and Spear of the Hunt artifact
Sorceress with Life Surge spell (didn’t cast it, only use her build in spell which is awesome, used my Spellweaver model)
Knight-Azyros, sadly only ally, but he is amazing20x Eternal Guard
10x Sisters of the Watch
5x Wild Riders
3x Kurnoth Hunters with Swords
10x Shadow Warriors (used my Glade Guard models)
Command Point
Is there anything about the list you'd change?

I got an impression that they are like one step down from Khorne, and that they basically worship slaughter to the point that they kill for fun, and when it's not other people, they kill themselves.
The notion that they are any sort of nice is just a front they put up. It's quite literally an "enemy of my enemy is my friend" type of situation.
I was also leaning that way, but I don't actually have the Daughters book to confirm, haha!
Edit: It appears that I do in fact have the Daughters of Khaine book and am, in fact, dumb as a bag of hammers.
-
Do Daughters of Khaine ever attack other Order factions for sacrifices? I know the narrative is loose enough that anyone can fight anyone, really. I'm just wondering if they're like Idoneth in that they are known to occasionally prey on their allies.
-
I'm still over the moon that my Wanderers and Freeguild get to team up, but it feels awkward putting my Wanderers on cobblestone bases with the rest of my force. Somehow I think I'll be able to endure.

1 in 4 units.
Is that the only limitation? Can you take one of these units as your general?

Doesn't look like it, friendsman. You can see the included models in the CoS battletome a few pages back, and the Demigryph warscroll doesn't have an option for a character in the unit. Would have been cool, though!
It's a pity; I have a Marius Lietdorf I was hoping to put on the back of a Demigryph. I suppose I can try mounting him on a Griffon instead...
-
Thank you! Were the rumors of a General on Demigryph true?
-
I hate to be a bother but can anyone tell me if Freeguild Guard change at all?

Corsairs also still fishing for fives, the poor dears. Only real upgrade is to the cloak and their +1 to hit working as long as they have 15 and not being melee only. Really makes that new SC box a lot less appealing.
Edit: Honestly Dreadswords are flatly superior to Corsairs. I'm not sure what the Pirates did, I guess somebody likes them being a huge hoard of natures weakest aelves.
That sucks; they're a natural choice based on my City's fluff. I'm still going to field them but maybe not in the numbers I'd previously planned.
-
May I ask, does anyone know when the preorders usually go up in the States?

There may simply be a points cap for the amount of SC that can be taken. One of the FB posts stated clearly that the majority of the army (presumably pts-wise since it was min freeguild battleline and mostly SC) couldn't be SC.
I'm intensely curious to find out the specifics, even though I don't plan to use Stormcast at all in my main City!

His full name is literally "Aventis firestrike, Magister of Hammerhal"
that'd pretty silly if you couldn't use him in your Hammerhal army.
True, and it would be weird if he wasn't an option for general. Just makes me wonder what other Stormcast generals will be an option in the book.

In the facebook comments they said most of your army cant be stormcast eternals. Interesting.
I'm sorry for anyone who hoped otherwise but personally I'm tremendously glad to hear it!

Fits the theme but is terrible rulewise, unless you make a list with some really weak units to be killed "on purpose".
Yeah, Flagellants would be perfect for this! I'd been looking for a reason to take both Flagellants and Phoenix Guard alike alongside my zealotous Sancrosact and the real win here for me is I can do it all now!

So far it is the worse ability, considering the Phoenix temple units whole point is it resilience.
I actually love it from a thematic standpoint. It doesn't fit with how I see my city, but it's perfect for how I imagine my Stormhost!
Book isn't even released and I'm already planning a second army with it!

Anyone have any good ideas on the best Wizard to pick up for freecities and casting the empowered endless spells? I don't see many dual casters and so far the wizard on Griffon and hurricanum have a plus one to cast native on their warscrolls ( both of which might change)
I've seen some people mention the Lord-Arcanum on foot since Stormcast will get the keyword of their city and that Lord-Arcanum gets a buff to Endless Spells already.

Kind of sad Battle Wizards appear to have been removed. I wonder why. When I first checked the stuff going away, they were not on it .
There's a battle wizard in the photo from today's article.

I have the problem that my scheme looks like one of the official ones and so I might have some problems with opponents being confused.
I don't know how I feel about the idea of unrestricted Stormcast choices. I can't quite put my finger on what bugs me, though.

AVERLAND FO LYFE YO
Averland may be my favorite of the Empire's provinces. They're just so stylish!
Not to mention Marius Lietdorf being the greatest of elector counts, of course.

Interestingly (I think it's interesting, you all may not, haha) I want to do something similar to the Tempest's Eye colors for my shadow warriors; going to greyer shades to highlight their... sneakinessn I guess.
My city will have been inspired by the Bretonnian dukedom of L'Anguille, so I'm going to stick with my color scheme and damn my faction hipsterism!

Finally settled on my color scheme as blue and white, only to be reminded that's Hammerhal's color scheme. Dang it!

Either way I would cover up the bare feet. Hated that about the Empire sculpts, this isn't the militia kit, they were state troops. I just painted mine as boots, ya can't tell otherwise.
Right? I like to think Sigmar can actually provide clothing for his troops. This isn't Stirland.
