Huge price increases are expected - but any price increase will be tempered by the existence of the start collecting box.

Well, moderated, anyway. I remember when the Beastmen army book came out for Warhammer the new Gor models were such a mark up that people used to joke "Bad beastmen players get the battle box in their stocking for Christmas".

  2. Hi everyone!

I'm trying to start up a Path to Glory warband  with a friend and I've been trying to figure out what I want to play.  It occured to me that now is my chance to play the Daughters force I've always wanted to try: a Medusa with Melusai and Khinerai. I'm not a fan of the regular aelves, which frankly I think hinders any full Daughters army I would try to make (which is why I never bothered to collect them).

In short, how do you all think a Melusai and Khinerai -only warband would be?

  3. Oh really? I didn't realize their abilities relied on a Slann. It's been a while since I've looked them over so there's a lot I know I've missed. I'm trying to find a new army to start to oppose my friend's Ossiarchs and since I got the Seraphon Christmas boxed set when GW offered it I thought I might try them out.

    Thank you for the answers!

To me, Dreadwood's command trait, Heartwood's command trait, most things in Ironbark are just there and not utilized.

I really like the idea of Ironbark, can you specify what make their sub-faction abilities of minimal value?

The Path to Glory options in the Sylvaneth book are bad. There is no way to get an additional model from the Champion table, so you inevitably miss out on a lot of what makes the faction work in real game.

If you pick Durthu then there is no way to get a spell caster in your army. That means no summoning additional Wyldwoods, no summoning extra Dryads and no casting any of our excellent other spells. Durthu really needs Wyldwoods to perform at his best, and the whole faction relies on them for assorted movement and other buffs. So a Durthu Champion in a PtG game carries a lot of hidden penalties.

Taking a TLA gives you a single wizard, plus allows you to auto-summon one Wyldwood. That is a huge benefit for the rest of your army. You still won’t get to summon Dryads (requires a Branchwraith) but you’ll get to see more of the faction and won’t lose out on as many Wyldwood-dependant buffs.

On that basis, the TLA is probably the better choice of the two. But I would really not recommend PtG as an introduction to Sylvaneth as you’ll lose out either way. TLA or Durthu isn’t a question of which is good, but only which is least bad.

Can you no longer take a Branchwych or Branchwraith as your Champion? I was considering starting up Sylvaneth as a PtG counter to my friend's new Ossiarchs and I was going to try and field as many units as I could.

  5. I'm thinking about making a more human-focused army for Anvilguard, with blocks of Freeguild supported by Darkshards and Sorceress magic. What Corsairs I have will be there to grab objectives and tap away with their crossbows. Since it's Anvilguard I'll be able to bring a Kharibdyss or two (what's the plural of Kharibdyss?).

    Thoughts?

In what realm is this Kentucky you speak of? Is it Aqshi?

I think so. In the Deep Fried Basin, ruled by the eleven Princes of Herbs and Spices. Tis a noble land; in D&D terms the inhabitants' alignment tends to be Lawful Good, Neutral Good, and Finger-licking Good.

That's all I've got. If I really wanted to commit I'd paint a Freeguild General like Colonel Sanders but I don't think the payoff would be worth it.

I'm beginning to think I want to keep my Freeguild seperate from my Wanderers. I just don't know what I want to do regarding my Free City's background any more; I've gone from one well-defined concept (Freeguild and the Artists known formerly as Dark Elves) to wanting to use my Wanderers and Sylvaneth, all while dabbling in a side-project Hyshian city.

I'm most excited to field my Wanderers but I haven't any idea what their background would be! And that's important to me. Everything I've tried has ultimately been to try and fit their square peg in the round holes of my initially-Freeguild concept or the triangular hole of "but I also want a scheme which will match my Sylvaneth". I may have to just wait for inspiration with them.

If you don't want symbols of the old world, file them off. I, for one, like that they made their models reflect the current Karl of my primary city, Franz, and don't keep their gods to only Sigmar. Taal and Morr presumably survived as well (well, Taal at least, Morr is less certain).

I don't know, it seems like the "KF" I keep seeing everywhere stands for "Kentucky Fried". In case the bearer falls in battle, you know, so the company knows what kind of chicken to serve at his wake.

  8. Well if my aelves aren't welcome in Ghyran they'll just have to re-settle some aelven ruins in Ulgu. So what if I use the Living City rules for them. So what if they are developing a strained relationship with the nearby Sylvaneth of the Gloomwood. Alarielle doesn't get to say what they can do or who they hang out with. What's Malerion up to? Does he want some new friends?

It says they retreated WITH Sigmar and yet they will never be forgiven for doing what she already forgave Sigmar for... bruh?

Well, he's a god and his stormcasts helped with her resurrection.

Personally I think it sucks and it's a little hypocritical (Alarielle was one of the first to leave Sigmar's pantheon) but I suppose it's the nature of divinity to be so.
