the trait is kind of eh

    😳 vhat? Kind of eh?!?

+1 attack and +1 damage against an hero with artifact, tell that some poor bloodthirster who gets his face kicked in. Or some idoleth deep thingy, 12hp with a 3+ needs to get torn to shreds somehow.

we supposed to run this as Hollowmourne?

    All depends,

    blisterskin has legs…

feast day with frenzy from unit champion is something to think about

    gristlegore with distraction terrorgheists

but hollowmourne with the trait, ca and artifact turn the dial on the varghulf to 11

    Also for Smashbat

Fully buffed mordant varghulf flying over the board. In hollowmourne as general it gets extra damage against artifact heros and all that…

but because the mordants use that very varghulf as pin-point to move, I usually send in the flayers first. If they survive, they might like a varghulf near them next round.

What happens with everything during 3.0 stays mysterious, but I think battalions are pretty safe. Points are also a thing, but well, new game, new rules… adapt adjust annihilate

dont think battalions will enable single drops anymore based on what the Battle Regiment says: One-Drop Deployment.

That’s what I wondered too. Since it is specifically mentioned in one core battalion, it probably doesn’t count for all the others. If the core battalion are for free, I guess they also don’t get an artifact or an extra cp (except when they do)

interesting to see how the new rules work for the warscroll battalions 🤔 hope they stay one drop + artifact + cp. well, can’t wait to gin-t the new rules in the sun (with extra heavy sunscreen).

right now I’m a bit hesitant to get started, since the whole foundation changes massively very soon 😅

    See according to GW's experts

I suppose there are fluff writers, that think about what a unit wants to be and how great it is and how many points it should cost.

then there is the rule smith, who writes the Warscrolls. Sadly he only has a thumbnail of the model to work with.

But maybe 🤔 they find a spot within the core battalions 🧐

doesn’t say anything about the old battalions

    Core Battalions

There are now two types of battalions in Warhammer Age of Sigmar. The warscroll battalions you know and love are for units of renown and represent a specific focus, a special leader, or additional training. On the other hand, core battalions are intended to balance out the various units in exchange for distinct abilities.

So I hear points are going up for all factions. Seems that they are really trying to tone down the amount of models on the board this edition.

    If they stay reasonable…

new unit sizes, CAs like overwatch and table size with mandatory terrain and monster and hero abilities every hero/charge phase, commands from the unit champions that‘s all a big shake up.

but with feast day, blisterskin and gristlegore we‘re pretty solid. If our 6 flayers have to run in a 4+2 formation, so be it, since the champion can order a feast… and mordants are still a thing, so smashbat 4theWin

Riders Of Ruin as it’s currently written doesn’t override the core rules unfortunately.

    QfT…

i hope the faq fixed this, because otherwise it will be another „would be great, but GDubs can’t rule…“

still hyped to field granny and her boi, all the new units need to be tested

Other rules could interact with Coherency and modify that I suppose

I will drop my cheesy last model doubled then string out during pile-in plan…

hits our flayers pretty hard, same goes for bloodknights (gore gruntas) and all elite melee that tries to get all attacks in with OVER 32mm bases and only 1“ reach.

but it’s no use at all, have to see ALL the new rules and then start crying/moaning OPAF 🤣 same goes for „overwatch“

if all things fail, we‘re back to the fluff army we once were, when we had „reserve points“ and summoning was our strong tactical advantage 🤔 smells like 💩

Large bases basically have to line up in two ranks

A bunch of „line dance“ formations are discussed right now, I think not that bid a deal for 6 flayers...

charge in as a line, kill stuff and the first casualty will bring you down to 5. 🤷🏿‍♀️
big block of 9...wasn’t getting all into combat anyway.

I’m very curious how much 40k will be in AoS 🧐

  11. All the new rules are really a shake up...

and complicate the rule set and interactions a lot.

with the current references of GDubs rules writing team, I‘m expecting a whole new book of designers commentaries 🤣🙈

just had a heated „riders of ruin“ discussion, which ended in “your fluff text has nothing to do with the rules“.

not a good move to bring new people into the game, but I‘ll guess we’ll have to see what really comes our way, some of the things look brutal against us (overwatch) and some (extra regen) pretty op

fun times ahead, new lists , new rules , new everything 👻

But now you have to be in 2 ranks on horrors/flayers.

Damnation never really though about that 😬

not really sure what two models within 1“ and 6“ means, if you string out six models, the corner piece has two other models within 6“ 🤔

What are your thoughts on rules of Kritza and Lady Annika?

All of the above, but they do count as generals...

and an early killed Kritza could crawl out of the sewers turn 3 and be a pain somewhere undefended especially with a 18“ general bubble

So since we’re losing Mordants, is it worth it to have Varg in the main list anymore?

It is a good unit... even at the price.

Since nothing is certain for 3.0 all is speculation. Double Regent could be funky, it is 80 points more, but all the options... 🙀

I‘m still not sold on the removal of battalions, since they are a part of Kragnos, but who knows.
For now, can’t go wrong with Flayer heavy feast day

A 6 squad is a real threat though, but it comes at a higher cost if you hold them back waiting for an opening. Tough call.

    4sure...

I  guess it boils down to the job description. If they are to be a big threat, to wipe stuff from the table, surely 6... even if they are to engage, wait for back up and the the left over disengages.

If you are planning a 3-4.round objective steal or backfield harassment, six would be to much points hanging in the sky, not working for their points, while your opponent get things done

I don't like the idea that 2/3 of the time my feeding frenzy will be switched off against monsters.

Yes, that will be a tough but to crack.

But AoS 3.0 as the best rules ever written within the best rules ever possible will shake up things dramatically, for every faction and will need time to get settled. Once per game  abilities, battalions yes/no/some... and so on.

with Soulblight supposed to be written with 3.0 in mind (hopefully), I don’t really see too many obvious „weirdness“. there are a lot of „counts as additional general“ named characters, but otherwise...looks normal.

mawshard will be valuable for champion sniping...

    interesting times

Now it would really suck if they also put a limitation of once per turn only on all CAs xD

With the limiter to +\-1 Neffi and Manni are a bit stuck, but the throne should be able to command two units, same way the vamp lord could only CA a unit once, but multiple units were possible.

tricky how the interactions will work out with monstrous rampage „roar“... no inspiration, but what about buffs from the hero phase?

on the other hand the heroic actions make a big skelli block unsupported interesting again, the battleshock could be denied by the champ 🤔 better for my 40 ghouls in FEC they could feeding frenzy
