I just got an email from Warhammer with some art I hadn't seen before.

Looks like new Stormvermin are on the way

This looks like cash grab mobile game art. I know it's not but geez is that a step-down in art quality.

  2. That cities warband is somehow stupider than the lumineth cow helms. What do you mean he's riding into battle on his sons shoulders? Are you implying his entire body is in that tiny space? Is he a bottomless torso? Is he undead? He's not a grail reliquae cause he's holding things.

Edit: I see now he's sitting with his crotch behind his sons head and the straight on angle just made it look like he had no body. It's still a really stupid (and ugly) design choice with no explanation as to why he would ride into battle on his son and the rest of the "electroshock therapy" zealots are doofy looking in the worst way.

The ghouls are meh. I've already forgotten what they look like.

Cool ossiarch centaur. Everything else is meh and the sylvaneth are so hyper specific to the gnarlwood while also being a uselessly mixed unit as far as AoS is concerned. Like they wanted to make a whole army of "twistwood" or whatever so instead they just made a sample of every unit?

ToW dwarves look really cool. I don't play them but neat.

"Totally not Valkia" looks awesome but agree that it's a missed opportunity if it isn't a multi build.

40k is yawn and the killteam I literally don't even know if those are reused genestealers or they're just that bland.

I wish they would have had the guts to call book 6 the beasts of chaos instead while also writing us out of the game.

I will continue playing with them in Legends, my Pestigors, Gorthor and company, I am not going to sell them, too many decades on their metal backs.

Of course, the second hand and the recasts are my new suppliers of GW miniatures for the rest of my armies.

I won't sell but I won't buy anything from GW ever again.

Might just be a no, for no they can't confirm?

With every other rumor going around I'm inclined to assume the worst. But I suppose it is an assumption. My opinion stands if it turns out to be true though.

  5. The warhound sad reacted my question. Beasts are being removed from AoS. I wish Games Workshop could go under without costing everyone else their toys because (this word goes against forum rules) that (this word goes against forum rules) company and its (this word goes against forum rules) cohort of incompetent (this word goes against forum rules) suits who don't give a (this word goes against forum rules) about the actual players and fans.

They don't deserve this world. (Warhammer not life).

  6. I still worry about how long the time is between "removed" and "reimagined" (looking at you Kurnothi!) And resent the way GW squatted high elves and couldn't be bothered to tell us "but don't worry we've got something in the pipeline to satisfy your high elf needs!"

That said whitefangs tertiary BoC react does lift my mood a little.

Neither of those were proper factions. They’re subfactions which are far easier to disappear. BoC would be the first actual faction to disappear since the End Times if the rumors about them going are true

That's a little disingenuous. Subfactions are subsets of larger armies.  Both wood and high elves featured in the indexes with their own rules/spells/items/traits etc. While also having enough kits to field entire armies of them without any missing pieces. I'd call them factions just not armies (because they never had their own battletome).

  8. 22 minutes ago, Vagard said:

I mean... any of those factions disappear, they just get new kits that remplace the older ones. I think it will be the same for beastmen. The BT will stay but what's inside will change. GW never erased a entire faction in AoS in nearly 10 years of existence.

If you count high elves (before they got replaced by lunineth which some might argue isn't a real replacement but that's not the point of this discussion)

Or wanderers who were repackaged into AoS boxes and written about extensively in the lore and who as yet have no proper replacement.

I grant you that no battle tome army has disappeared entirely.

"Double post" after 4 days. This is post Darkoath reveal.

The reveal of Darkoath and how it both replaces and reinvents the old chaos marauders sheds new light, in my opinion, on what future awaits Beasts in AoS. First a new name (for copyright reasons but also to distance themselves from TOW), then new minis that put the older ones to retirement in TOW but also bring something new : a bit like how the Darkoath are no longer just Norscan/Chaos marauders put in AoS, but a distinct culture with unique lore and minis that aren't just marauders 2.0. Beasts will have the Darkoath treatment imo.

With marauders getting the marauder treatment now, Skaven getting a big refresh for 4th edition, Chorfs being rumored and the 4 main armies due for an update at some point I think it's safe to say that BoC are probably not even in their 2-3 year design cycle. If they get squatted to be replaced it's likely to be a long time before they are actually replaced.

It is the negative side of following rumours. Sometimes "living in the ignorance" is better. Imagine it is nothing in the end. All this "suffering" for nothing. My advice, don't let this ruin your hobby. Enjoy it while you can, in the worst-case scenario, and if it ends up happening then you would have plenty of time to think about what to do. But at least you would have enjoyed your army as much as possible.

I just feel like it would be different if this wasn't the fifth time GW has chopped an army out from under me. Eldar corsair, combined arms eldar, wood elves, wanderers, and now beasts.

I just can't drum up anymore enthusiasm to build, convert, paint, and pour my heart and time into coming up with lore and tactics and pouring over every scrap of information I can find.

  11. I hate where beasts are at. I should be so psyched about these awesome models and already thinking where and how to convert them into beasts but instead I'm just sitting here thinking "did my army die for this?" And it's such a bummer.

I really wish Whitefang would debunk or confirm the "beasts are leaving AoS" rumor because not knowing is ruining the hobby for me.

Everyone agrees that TOW is hitting hard the nostalgia button - that effect will die off when TOW is around one year old I guess -, while not offering that many new models, i.e. vexing more than one people expecting more new/redesign kits, Cathay and mostly, Kislev.

My biggest fear is they retire beasts to the old world and then fail to support the old world and it dies out.

Stones and fetishes, furs and leather and more simplistic weaponry and contempt for the dark powers they serve? I found where BoC faction identity went.

I'm happy for people who wanted Darkoath but to see my army get deleted to make room for the same thing but human just to allow for a more relatable antagonist is... not a great feeling.

  14. I literally watch every batllereport channel but I think my favorite for AoS is probably Battleshock wargaming? It used to be Rerolling ones but they basically disbanded as soon as I unknowingly moved to the same area as them which made me so sad because I met one of their guys at my LGS and was gonna be on a battle report and then the channe died right when I finished painting ny army T_T

Hopefully, but Whitefang has had plenty of opportunities to say or deny that they would not be completely discontinued and it has been quite the opposite.

And Whitefang specifically called out the rat God rumor as being wrong so...

Yes, but that would almost be a direct copy of the StD Ogroid Theridons, which is aesthetic wise (ignoring lore) an update of the older Bullgors sculpts.

In the 4-5 wound elite unit department we already have for BoK the Mighty Skullcrushers and Bloodcrushers. Although the Bullgors have a higher damage output.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to see updated BoC mini's and preferable interchangeable with TOW Beastmen. Alas if we have to believe the rumours it will not happen and I don't see a place for the BoC units in any of the other Chaos battletomes.

Well sure but ogroids are just rat ogres etc. Etc. I'm just saying BoK doesn't have monstrous infantry not that they NEED it per se.

But to be clear I'm in agreement that BoC doesn't seem to have any future and it looks like I'll probably be taking a long step back from AoS and maybe the hobby/company in general.

Where is a place for Khornegors? There is no place for them in Blades of Khorne. There is already 3+/3+ Bloodletters and 3+/4+ blood warriors and for elites you have the Wrathmongers/Skullreapers which are also 3+/3+.

Tzaangors are essential unit for DoT from the beginning, although a more elite version. For BoK it's much harder to add them, while being different enough from the other foot units. There is also no place for them in StD, as it have the same problem as with BoK.

The whole AoS rulesystem is imo hitting its limits.

I agree with your last sentence but imo the room is in monstrous infantry. There's nothing between the 5 man skullreapers and the single unit khorgarath (think bullgor of khorne) in either mortals or demons that isn't cavalry.

I also don't think God gors have to be elites. Pestigor could easily end up being a chaff horde for nurgle (like plaguewalkers in 40k) because nurgle really doesn't need more beefy elite infantry either.
