So, how are these for some questions:

    1) Generally, how do you feel about the points cost in the Hedonites of Slaanesh battletome 2021?

    A) A significant number of units are overcosted

    B) Most units are correctly pointed

    C) A significant number of units are undercosted

    D) I don't have a strong opinion either way

2*) Do you feel "X unit" is correctly pointed?

    A) Yes I feel they are correctly pointed

    B) No I think they are too highly costed

    C) No I think they are too cheaply costed

    D) I don't have a strong opinion either way

    3) Have the points cost impacted your choice to play Hedonites of Slaanesh

    A) No, I play them regardless

    B) Yes, I chose to play them because of their points cost

    C) Yes, I chose not to play them because of their points cost but would have played otherwise

    D) No, I do not play them regardless of points cost

    E) No, something else stops me from playing Hedonites of Slaanesh but I would play with that fixed

    F) I have no strong opinion

    4) How do you feel about the rules of the book regardless of the points cost

    A) I strongly like the rules

    B) I like the rules

    C) I have no opinion either way

    D) I dislike the rules

    E) I strongly dislike the rules

    5) Would you like to see a Warscroll rewrite for the Slaangors, or do you believe a points cost would suffice

    A) I would like to see a warscroll rewrite

    B) I think posts changes would suffice

    C) I think the warscroll and points for the Slaangor are good

    D) I have no strong opinion

    ---

The question is then what units we should include; I think the easiest way would probably be just to include all of the new mortal models. It's not that all daemons are perfect, but rather people seem to have more issue with the mortals.

    * this question would be repeated for the 10 mortal warscrolls

I feel like a way to expand on the why for some answers might be helpful.

Me and someone else can say we dislike rules, but we reasons may be different. I dislike how anti-syngergistic the rules feel at times. Our mortal buffing guy is a foot slogger who wants to really buff our fastest unit. That won't happen much, so the Lord of Pain is kind of a non-starter.

Someone else might dislike the rules for other reasons, like the keeper and epitome nerf, but might not care too much about the mortal side of things, so perhaps an area to expand upon their opinion would be great.

Also, perhaps a question on how do we feel the book is compared to the last one. With choices probably being
    A) It's the best book
    B) It's a good book, but not perfect
    C) It's marginally better and still a long ways to go
    D) It doesn't feel any different
    E) It feels worse than the last book in many regards
    F) It's the worst book.

  2. So I finally got to try our new book.

    2v2 2230 a side (1150 a person)

    My list was

    Exalted Bladebringer

    -Cameo

    -d3 mw on the charge

    Heal spell

    Shardspeaker

    -Dark Delusions

    30 daemonettes

    11 archers

    5 slick blades

    Geminids

My partner was a friend getting back into the game with his Skryre and had an arch warlock, engineer, 10 acolytes and 2x20 clanrats and sine weapon teams.

Our opponents were Dok (cobra kai snake list, snake on chariot, 10 melee, 2x5 ranged, avatar, hag queen, melee snake hero) and boc (shaman, 30 gor, 10 bestigor, tzan shaman and 6 skyfyres)

We set up with me against the DoK player and the Skaven vs BoC.

Farming depravity went super well. I had 24 summoning points by turn 3. But, even massively duffing the dok player with geminids, IU was pretty much tabled. We got double turned 2 -> 3. I almost killed the dok heroes, I killed the snakes using +1 to wound on the melee snakes, and with the chariot and the daemonettes and stopping the snakes from piling in, I was able to survive the turn 2 combat, but on their turn 2, I was unable to really survive and just get grinded down by the snake on cauldron. Most of my CP was just pushed into keeping units from running.

By the time our turn 3 came around, I summoned a keeper... who didn't do much, but we were ending our game there at this point.

Ultimately... I'm still leaning on points decreases.

I haven't watched Vince's rant, so this only applies if the rant was along the lines of "twinsouls suck/are overpointed because they got wiped out by a buffed cow", but if that was the rant then it's not a good one. It's like saying "Morrsarr guard are bad because I used them to screen against 6 fiends and they did no damage and all died" - if a unit has a role and is not good in another area, using them in the area they're not good in will make them look bad.

Like I said, that's only if that was the extent of the rant, but it reminds me of the MWG and Dark Artisan battle reports were they both concluded Slaanesh sucked after forgetting half the rules and playing very poorly. It's a shame to see people say the army's bad because they made poor plays. The army does have issues, but it's easy to conflate poor performance with poor rules. Moreover, it can put off new players who may otherwise enjoy the army but have been told by others that they're bad, even though the 'others' have this negative opinion because they played poorly.

Sorry, it was a busy week and I realized I had not probably given as full of context at the time of writing. The situation was that the mountain goat was in the way. If he avoids it, it comes and kill them anyways, so he must attempt to kill it to get to the objective.

To be honest, it's a pretty terrible idea to use twinsouls against something with a 2+ rr1s save. I think that's less a problem with twinsouls and more an issue with target priority. There must have been something else for him to attack? Or at least buff the Twinsouls all out for defence.

It was Syar elves. So the buffs are kinda there on demand and nothing really there for the twinsouls to fight.

    Do elaborate, please.

He sent 10 twinsouls into cow mountain. Elf player double buffed it, and used a cp for reroll 1's and then did no damage. Mountain killed every twinsoul. Later sigvald and a summoned keeper charged the same mountain, and brought it down to 2 wounds, because of stone mage near by, mountain fights at top bracket and kills the keeper and almost kills sigvald.

Nice List but.... It is so CP Hungry Maybe u want to Change the Seeker again the Supreme Battalion and the Wheels with a extra CP.

(u really Need a lot CP for Keeper doppel activation, for Battelshocks and so on and on...)

Do u think geminis are Paying ?! Whitout Glutos or a Epitome a casting Value of 7+ I feel very uncomfortable with it.

I'll consider it, but this is just friends and family style list. Something to bring over to a friend's and throw models at each other. If I find the list not suitable for that, I'll be making some considerable changes.

So I finally got around to listening to Warhammer Weekly talking about subfactions and theres a fun rant about 10 twin souls and a keeper getting bopped by the Mountain spirit.

  7. 1 hour ago, Enoby said:

I'd definitely recommend twin souls over chosen at the moment, and thankfully I think your proxy would make a good twin soul :) I've found half of the models really good to build and half of them are super tricky. Thankfully the Myrmadesh are some of the easiest models I've had to build in a long time.

Do you have a list in mind?

The list I came up with at the moment was this.

    Allegiance: Slaanesh
    - Host: Godseekers Host
Bladebringer, Herald on Exalted Chariot (250)
    - General
    - Command Trait: Thrill-seeker
    - Lore of Slaanesh: Born of Damnation
    Keeper of Secrets (340)
    - Sinistrous Hand
    - Artefact: Cameo of the Dark Prince
    - Spell: Progeny of Damnation
    Keeper of Secrets (340)
    - Sinistrous Hand
    - Spell: Slothful Stupor
    11 x Blissbarb Archers (160)
    11 x Blissbarb Archers (160)
    5 x Chaos Warriors (90)
    - Hand Weapon & Shield
    5 x Slickblade Seekers (200)
    5 x Slickblade Seekers (200)
    Seeker Cavalcade (140)
    Geminids of Uhl-Gysh (60)
    Wheels of Excruciation (50)

    Total: 1990 / 2000
    Extra Command Points: 1
    Allies: 0 / 400
    Wounds: 110

The extra artifact could be anything, haven't looked to far, but essentially the cameo is to pop, and toss immediately for +1.

If I didn't want this the battalion, it'd either be some twin souls or more seekers.

  8. Still have yet to play a game with the new book yet, but I'm working hard on models, though mishaps abound.

I finished my archer unit, but somehow the homonculus's shoulder broke a bit. Can't find the bit that fell off or what happened since he stayed on my desk for over a week while the unit got built.

Then the seeker champion took a tumble while putting basing materials on. He's fixed now, but it was a stressful time.

I still have Sigvald to paint, 5 seekers to build and paint, and 5 myrmadesh that I will likely use as chaos warriors from time to time until they come down. I have 10 chaos chosen I built from sisters of silence and painted gold... but I honestly may just use them as twin souls.

  9. So list I'm milling about in my mind

    Bladebringer on exalted chariot

    General

Trait: either retreat and charge or on the charge 2+ for units near it take d3 mw.

    Keeper of secrets

    Another keeper

    2 units of blissbarbs

    5 warriors

    3x5 slickblades

No battalion, which does suck, but i don't know what artifact to take. I'm thinking cameo, pop it, and dump it for a +1 to hit. Probably on a keeper.

Oh, I would've been over the moon if we'd had a new boobsnake lord in this release. I'm tempted to convert something that evokes that in the right size to count as a bladebringer.

Despite the costs, this list is technically 2000 points on the nose, so I may give it a go and see how it works out.

Could you imagine? A dual kit or even a tri kit. Boob snake lord. Named Hero on Snake. Generic lord on Snake, Caster on Snake. Lord on Snake could've unlocked seeker battleline.

  11. Exalted speed knights is still very strong for the pre-game move. The downside is no battleline in the battalion. And the other seeker battalion is good with 6" tokyo drift action.

The other battalions are the ones that end up needing help.

Epicurean Revellers still has nothing to give your fiends in that list.

Pretenders neuters the choice of ever running sybarites Supreme, an already poor subfaction made worse with its unneeded nerfs.

Depraved Carnival contains units that do not work at all together. The heroes in that battalion do nothing for the archer units, except for providing a potential reroll 1's to hit in the shooting phase (so not effecting their hero phase shooting) and with the tax of 3 heroes, you are spending quite a lot for that battalion. Points decreases will help it if nearly every unit in the battalion goes down about 30 points each as it would free up 180 points, or just a rewrite that would allow the lord of pain to let the blissbarbs reroll their hits near him. I dislike battalions where units inside of it gain zero benefit and this is the only main buff archers get in the whole book.

Nobles of Excess do have a nice buff, but this would honestly be the battalion to contain a lord of pain. For a situational buff, I would expect maybe something for consistent.

  12. It would be nice if lord of pain changed to making a unit reroll hits in the shooting phase or combat phase. Would allow your archers to be good. or Let the shard speaker let all units get +1 to wound. It would definitely make the point costs of those units worth thier cost if you could get archers to a good profile of 4 rerolling by 2. Or let depraved carnival get the ranged units to have access to the double taps on 6's instead of a hero phase shoot.

Yes. What do you want to know?

Imo all the book needs is some accessible way for BS immunity and huge point drops. I agree on the Fiendbloods part, that they need an errata to put their weapons at dmg 2 or three.

It was just on your thoughts on what they had said. BS immunity, sure, but BS is just a poorly designed part of the game that they have yet to fix. I don't want every army to just ignore a phase of a game to be good.

If our seekers were allowed to retreat/charge/shoot  or run/charge, it would definitely make them earn that moniker of "fastest unit in the game".

  14. I agreed with a lot of their points, I disagreed with their guest on a few points. Pretenders wasn't good already, and the nerfs it took (losing +1 attack on silverslash, strenth from godhood nerf, reroll 1's to hit for ranged unit nerf) weren't close to being warranted.

The amount of non-combos in the book is also more than i realized. I thought depraved carnival was already bad because the heroes they force you to use don't synergize with the archers, but when you look at it... there's 2 buffs in the entire book that help archers. Acquiescence and dark delusions. Acquiescence will be hard to find in the army since Exalted Herald is pretty costly and dark delusions requires so many games... cast the spell, don't have the spell be unbound, then roll 2d6 and roll over their bravery... essentially cast a second spell with CV their bravery. It's a pretty trash spell, but its the closest we get to 3/3 archers, which COULD be really good with a 61 shots from a 480 points unit... yeah, not great.

Their thoughts on that trying to summon and maximize it will just cause you to lose and the 2.9 abuse will be real.

Here's hoping we get something like a hero such as a Lord of Seeker (or even caster on seeker) that unlocks Nu-seeker battleline.

  15. 4 hours ago, Popisdead said:

again,... why are people comparing them?

They are comparing them because they are comparable. As @Chaos Shepard has already stated, they are similar unit size, but bulls outdamage them, and enlightened on foot outdamage them for cheaper. Slaangor gain hardly any benefit within BoC.

Like, even from a lore perspective of them being gor, they are still lousy when compared to enlightened, another 3 wound, 5+ save unit. Slaangor not having brayherd just stops them from having more synergies in the army.

  16. 3 minutes ago, Enoby said:

On a more constructive note, the Shardspeaker's ability to give  +1 to wound is in the shooting phase, meaning you can move her first. This is much better than what I thought it was before

That's huge, I misread it and thought it was in the hero phase. So while it says 9" to throw it on an enemy, it's really 9+6+d6. On average she can run turn 1 on a 18" deployment and grant your seekers and keeper a +1 to wound. I'm thinking two of these in a list is a good spot.

Also if you dislike double of the same model, the mist weaver saih is a great counts as.
