With the helmets and scale next to marines, are you referring to the Stoneguard? They’re thinner than a Primaris helmet, but roughly triple the height. They come in 2 pieces, the helmet+face is all one piece, along with the back of the top ornament, then the face and horns of the cow head ornament is glued on as the second bit.

I haven’t really done any magnetising myself so I’m not sure on the prerequisites for it, however I think you probably could magnetise their arms, and almost definitely the head. The neck and back of the head glue together as 2 half’s, sideways, and the mask+ horns go ontop and most of it is hollow to be able to glue magnets into. The arms also have hollow parts where they join in the arm pit, and plenty of surface area (and hollow sometimes, depending on the arm piece for the different poses) for magnets in the elbow part. The mountain on the back I’d say would also be magnetisable, given how hollow it also is and the way it joins, as far as my small knowledge on magnetising works anyway, so take it with a pinch of salt.

Yea that’s what I meant. I was just curious if placing some kind of space marine helmet from puppets war would fit the model. Otherwise, very valuable info!

  2. You have to tell us how he helmets fit together, and maybe how they compare proportionally to space marine helmets if you have any. Gotta update that conversion post somehow.

also, how easy would it be to magnetize everything on mister mountain? I’m thinking the arms, head and possibly the mountain on the back just so I can swap out from aralith to avalorn

I’m not sure how the witchbrew works, but if it prevents battleshock tests, then yes, the Cathallar ability won’t work. It only works on units that have to take a battleshock test, so command abilities etc. which nullify them also make it impossible to use the second part of the ability (throw negative multipliers at you). The first part works though, the Lumineth player can ignore their battleshock on a 2+.

The ability does not force a battleshock on you, it only modifies the tests you have to take.

This is hard to say. My local retailer sold out Teclis within an hour, but as I don’t know how many they ordered, could have been just me buying him, lol. High Elves buy most accounts were a pretty popular army, and if you compare the posts in this thread to many other armies, it seems there pretty popular too. There is a lot of activity on FB too. But this all could be just a few very enthusiastic people. We’ll know a bit better once we get more data from sites that compile data on list building, tournaments and so on. Places like Warhammer Weekly sometimes make surveys on popularity. So we likely can get a better impression, but probably will never fully know.

All I can say is, they are such a beautiful army. If you really see them on the table even more so than on photos. They look like a real force. I’ve just finished my 30 Warden and can’t wait until I also have finished 30 Sentinels (6 have been built so far, getting there...). They look really awesome, and I’m not a good painter by any means. So I hope many people buy and enjoy them. 😊

I know of a few locals in my area that love these guys too, so I think it’s safe to say that the outlook may be pretty good.  I agree with how beautiful they are.  They look absolutely amazing in formation, even with  only 8 guys completed. Can’t wait to see 50 of them on the table!

  4. I know I'm going to get a lot of hate for saying this... but honestly one of my most dissapointing units is the Morrsarr Guard.

They are the only worthwhile hammer in my idoneth, but off the charge they are so pillow-fisted. unless your opponent gets unlucky against the onslaught of rend '-' eel attacks, they don't do too much damage without the rend or charge bonuses they get. I can remember so many times where a squad of 9 failed to even kill 5 liberators with their spears off the charge because of how badly I rolled.

Greetings foul Hedonites, I come to you with a proposition.

the elgi have gone too far this time, not only have they fashioned some Gods-awful hammers, but they have stolen Hashut’s imagery and Runecraft for themselves!!! Join us Dawi in the fight against these so called “Realm Lords” and half of all prisoners will be sent your way.

As an elf player, I can only say that I would throw the gauntlet down... but considering the height difference I feel that I would have an unfair advantage when it gives you a concussion.

anyways, how brutal is a lurid Haze army with a ****** ton of marauders? Is it as much of a no brained as it sounds?

  6. SO I decided to try another list, this time featuring my favorite (non Gor)  units: the bullgors!

    Allegiance: Beasts of Chaos
    - Mortal Realm: Ghyran - Greatfray: Gavespawn
    LEADERS
    Doombull (100)
    - General
    Tzaangor Shaman (150)
    UNITS
    9 x Bullgors (420)
    - Great Axes
    6 x Bullgors (280)
    - Great axes
    6 x Bullgors (280)
    - Shield
    3 x Chaos Spawn (150)
    BEHEMOTHS
    Cygor (140)
    Ghorgon (160)
    Ghorgon (160)

    BATTALIONS
    Hungering Warherd (150)

This was just something I threw together for fun, so I know it probably stinks, but what the heck. Didn’t pick out relics or spells, but I don’t know any of them anyways.

First wave comes out tomorrow and I’ve been lazy and haven’t even finished my 10 Wardens :(

Same. I got the horses to paint and I got three more wardens from the original box set, not to mention Eltharion and the mist weaver to do.

Also, They released all the painting guides today on the Lumineth.... except for Ziatrec? What the heck?

On paper the shark looks good to me, what would it need?

From personal Experience at least the leviadon from the akhelian corps to give at least 1 re-roll, but if you can have the Akhelian King follow them around telling them to hit better then that’s the best support you can give IMO.  If you can afford it then the Eidolon of the storm is great for re-rolling wounds, but usually you cannot afford one in a list.

Can anyone share his/her experiences with running a 4 shark unit of Allopexes

I understand that Morsarr are our best unit. But I often struggle to instantly delete what I was charging due to bad rolls or poor judgement. Without the charge bonus they hit like wet noodles.

Allopexes don’t lose their rend and with King/Volti buff makes them fairly strong in a bigger unit. Sure they don’t Re-roll their charges consistently and battleshock is our bane but I would love to see them being played and wether I should invest into 2 more sharks

I can’t say running a unit of 4, but I have ran a unit of three. They are hit and miss to be honest, but are fairly valuable to provide something that doesn’t rely on a charge in order to do damage. They are also pretty tough, so they can soak up some damage before losing combat efficiency. Best used with the akhelian corps so they get one re-roll, but outside of that they can be good. Just be careful of monster hunters.

  10. Honestly I am pretty excited to see the warband. With such a short unit roster any extra units make me excited, especially a small glimpse at a new temple! I hope we get some more info on them soon too. I honestly wish they started with river over the mountain aspect to be honest.

plus, I wonder how each temple will be implemented in the future. Will every Tyrian nation be solely devoted to a temple like Ymetrica is? Or will the temples become their own thing and each nation will be getting their own special rules like Ziatrec or Syar?

i keep thinking about the big elementals that the Lumineth have and i wonder what the remaining ones will look like. We know the mountain spirits that are inspired by yaks, the wind spirit is apparently a large anthropomorpic fox but what about river and zenith.

I think the river spirit will be a Capybara because the Seraphon have the amphibian and reptile market cornered and the Idoneth have the sea creatures, so a creature that mainly lives in rivers and on land would be neat addition, plus it would be a sight to behold.

I honestly think a river spirit might be a horse or centaur or something. They are fast, fitting the flowing nature of rivers, majestic, and it’s a nice call back to that LOTR scene with the Ringwraiths in the river.

Other than that, I think there is room for more sea serpents, dragons and reptiles in AoS. After all it’s a motif for a reason, and there is ample room for more of them in the game.

For zenith, I’m thinking it’s going to be some kind of hawk, Phoenix or something. There is too many associations with sun gods and birds for GW to pass it up I think.  That or it will be a dragon or even an angel, something to show the light lumineth love so much.

I'm just getting into beastmen myself, since it seems the best way to play Tzaangors at the moment, so take my advice with a grain of salt.
In general Ungors are better than gors, at minimum sized units I think Gors have a role to play and have some advantages over ungors,  but their 32mm bases and lack of spears hold them back way too much in bigger units. They're still cheap bodies, but ungors are cheaper, can attack in up to 3 ranks with spears, and I think BoC prefers to chaff up with small screen units than to horde up to make anvils.
Just from looking through the rules a bit though Hedonites allegiance can offer BoC a lot. the exploding hits are amazing on big blobs of ungors with spears,  and bestigors, and doombulls are amazing depravity machines with plenty of strong offensive artifacts in slaanesh. Pretenders gives the potential to kit out a hero to the extreme, and lurid haze Invaders gets a command ability for +1 to save rolls, which can push a lot of those average 4+ BoC saves over the edge.

I think depravity only works with heroes, but the idea is strong for everything else.

The problem I have with Ungors is that their not gors. I absolutely love the god model and the lore behind them, and with Ungors being lesser I kinda don’t care about them as much? Kinda weird, but still I like the big Gor energy. I understand that Ungors are probably better all around though.  May just use Bestigors exclusively though?

Other than that, thanks for the advice. Again I am a long way off from doing this, but I am sorely tempted, especially after having so much fun playing Beastmen in Total war and Rim world.

The first list is better for sure IMO. You can get the 2nd list to work but it'll be harder.

To make your 2nd list better take 10 bestigors to make 1x30, and 1x10, then take your Gors and make 1 unit of 30 into MSU's (if you have the points and room in batatlion, not looking at the points).

Also Allherd is the weakest out of all 3, Gavespawn is the strongest then Darkwalkers. If you are Allherd though I would really make sure you have your General near your Hammer units for the re-roll charges and make your Doombull your General b.c he can get an Artifact that gives him +2" charges, that way he can get it really easily and give the Bullgors re-roll charges as they also have +1" to the charge.

Okay, sounds good. I may go with Darkwalkers instead because I like the outflanking, but it's not set in stone. I think I Like both, but I wouldnt be playing it any time soon so no worries. Just wanted to give a little thought exercise for this to be frank. I don't know what I want more fluff wise though.

my vision for the general is a beastlord or doombull that used to be lumineth and got turned into a beast via a transmutation spell, and retains enough thought to become a shaman / leader of his tribe.

Get a couple start collecting boxes b.c it is a really good deal, you are getting the Ghorgon for free.

    • You'll want a few layers of chaff, so Ungors, Raiders, or Gors.
    • You'll have your 2 Shamans from the SC's then you will want 2 more heroes, Doombulls and Beastlords are good beat sticks, the Beastlord is more niche (anti-hero) than the Doombull and the Bull is more wounds, so for sure take 1 of him. If you are taking Tzaangors then take a Tzaangor Shaman as your final hero.
    • You want a hammer unit or 2, this can be Tzaangors, Bullgors, or a block of Bestigors.
    • Having 10mans of Bestigors is also great, you'll have 20 from the SC's, getting 1-2 more boxes is always very good
    • You need a box or 2 of spawns
    • Finally get a couple extra boxes of stuff for summoning, a extra unit of Ungors, Gor, maybe a chariot or Razorgor, Cocktrice, etc..
    • PS get the Endless spells and Herdstone

There are a few options you can do for sure, but in general BoC wins on speed and placement, you'll do a lot of running and blocking in your opponent, your gors, ungors, raiders, etc.. 99% the time will never charge and just stand in the way. You want a couple hammers to kill key units to make sure you can keep and take objectives.

    A general list is

    Shaman
    Shmana
    Doombull/Beastlord
    Tshaman/Doombull
    Ungor/Gor
    Ungor/gor
    Ungor/Gor
    Raider/Ungor
    Raider/Ungor
    Bestigor
    Bestigor
Optional - Centigor, chariot, etc... another fast chaff unit
    Optional Bestigor x30
Bullgors/Tzaangors on Disk (this can be 2x3 or 1x6)
    1 drop Battalion
Optional 1 addition spawn (stay at 2 drop if possible)

You'll use the 1-2 drop to take first or 2nd turn w/e the mission needs.

Okay, that makes a bit of sense. I managed to make two lists despite not knowing what the heck I am doing, so hopefully they don't suck! Don't have anything picked out besides the realm they are from (hysh) for background fluff ideas.

    1st list: Depraved warheard:

  15. So I'm getting really tempted by starting this army as a counter to my high borne lumineth. What is a good build for beginners? I want to move towards an undivided kinda army with a lean towards slaanesh, but tzaangors are so good. What do you guys recommend?

  16. 1 hour ago, ThalmorRepresentative said:

Question, and sorry for the double post! Has anyone able to play with the wardens already have any experiences they like to share with the pikes? How much of a problem are they on the table when breaks / cumbersome pile-ins are concerned?

    Thanks.

I played warcry with them and it wasn’t too bad? Didn’t really have a chance to go to base to base and they were largely singular models, but still not too bad.

  17. Yea, this is going to be a slow grow for me, if even that. I want to get 40 more wardens and 30 sentinels, but ****** me sideways the price gouging is real. And, as others in my gaming group pointed out these models are not even that good to play with because of how flimsy the spears are. I’m sure glad I’m paying premium for a model that can break if you look at it sideways.

yea, I think it’s time I start finding cheaper ways to pick them up.  I love the army and fluff, but even without the near 200 dollar Teclis model picking up guys is going to cost me  at least 500 buckerinos for a solid core even before the mountains come out. I can already tell that the stone guard are going to be, like, 50$ for 5 too... if I want Aelves I can probably play cities of Sigmar cheaper and have more options.

what really pisses me off too is that good sales do not guarantee more product down the line either, so it’s kinda souring the mood for me too.

    This!

Lumineth likely will eventually get decent tournament usage despite the fan controversy if you can even call it that.  IDK, Fyreslayers and Bonereapers all saw initial fanhate because of the model direction not aligning with the demands of fans and apparently didn't sell well, but they have dominated tournaments in in the past and have decent levels of usage and popularity post release, more so than other armies.  I expect Lumineth to follow that pattern.

I think looking back every at single AOS army release, there has seen a lot of hate, even popular fan armies like Ironjaws, Gloomspite and Sylvaneth have copped it.  It's hard to see if the hate is the majority or just a vocal minority though vs the actual people actually buying models.

Yea, I think that Once The lumineth fully release we will be getting more data beyond TTS.  The wardens look really useful, and with the right spells I think they will be pretty versatile depending on the spells. The ethereal blessings one in particular is something that I am pretty keen to look at, especially with the re-rolling 1’s battalion. If all spells go off then you can have a pretty solid front line against rend. When combat starts pop an aether quartz on them and  cast power of Hysh, and you could be getting some good damage out of them  (I hope.)

i can’t wait till I can get my whole army together. The price is what’ll get me though. Never played a horde army first hand, so seeing that it will be 420$ for the core troops will be harsh

its basically a rubber sheet that is magnetic and I anyways magnetise my bases for storage/transportation so it works well

    cheers

Not going to lie that sounds a little too floppy for what I have in mind. I was thinking mini mag tray as well, but these look great for lining boxes!
