It was probably discussed before, but I can't find the answer now.

Do we know who are the SCE in this picture (in the front)?

Multipart evocators with alternate weapon option to the one in the starter set. The one at the front is the prime.

So if you have an old army don't worry because you can be forced to start a new army? This is exactly what people are afraid of.

It doesn't make sense to divert resources into writing and updating rules for models which are no longer sold. There isn't any business sense in it at all. Neither does it make sense to encourage people to stick with armies they've owned since the nineties or early noughties. Part of the problem with warhammer fantasy was that the people who were enthusiastic about the game didn't buy new models.

Games Workshop are being more supportive towards legacy armies than anyone has any right to expect.

  3. Even if everything does get moved over to legends eventually I wouldnt panic. They've done this with dark elves just after two AoS elf factions got big releases. If you liked old dark elves then you can play daughters of khaine or idoneth deepkin. Plus as others have said a lot of the legacy armies have been rewritten into the lore now. Dispossessed for instance might not be the new shiny dwarfs but they have plenty of mentions throughout recent aos fluff.

I wouldn't expect them to dump whole groups,I. E. Goblins before they get a release that lines them up to the new setting.

With tomb kings and brettonia you've had basically 3 years of extended life. GW stopped making the kits. No one can buy them anymore.  It doesn't make sense for them to be valid in matched play.

Optimistically I would expect at somepoint to see an order faction that represents humans in the realms that aren't stormcast eternals. There could well be an aesthetic that unifies the knightly side of things with the freeguild stuff.

Likewise for death, they will certainly get new releases that show at least part of a tomb kings influence. Given the lore has talked about nagash having black pyramids etc.

    • General Rules

    • Rules for Coalition of Death will be used (pages 14-16 of GHB 2017), with the following that will NOT be in effect: Their Finest Hour, Fog of War, & Divine Intervention.

    • Scenery rules from the base Age of Sigmar ruleset will be in effect.

    • If at any time your team or your opponents’ team has no models left on the table with no additional units to set up after the game begins, the game is over immediately.

    • The Garden of Nurgle: If both players in alliance are using the Nurgle Allegiance Ability, then each team places one Feculant Gnarlmaw at the start of the game, not each player.

    • Summon Daemons of Nurgle: If both players in alliance are using the Nurgle Allegiance Ability, then the team will share a single pool of Contagion Points, not two separate pools.

    • Sylvaneth Wyldwoods: If both players in alliance are using the Sylvaneth Allegiance Ability, then each alliance only deploys one (1) Sylvaneth Wyldwood as described in the Allegiance Ability, instead of each player deploying a Wyldwood each.

    • Ur-gold Runes: If both players in alliance are using the Fyreslayer Allegiance Ability, then each team will only use one Rune at a time and it will affect both armies when used. Your team can only use each Rune once as per normal rules.

Allegedly having the deepmare rider (hero?) as your main General makes eels batleline.

Unless the foot heroes have awesome command abilities then he will probably be the general in most armies. Given the eidolon doesn't have a command ability there doesn't seem to be a great reason to take him as general. We will almost certainly see a battlion which focuses on the akhelian sea monster units too.

  6. I mean if there are multiple build options for several kits I wouldn't be at all disheartened.  If you consider what some of the other factions have even the newer released armies deepkin are a big range. Sylvaneth, daughters of khaine and the chaos armies only actually had a few new kits. Khorne for example who are the other poster boys haven't had any new kits for Aos beyond the starter sets and multi part version.

The closest release for comparison would be the kharadron overlords as they were a full faction new release. If I remember rightly they have 12 units in their entire army. So idoneth stand above them.

Also if you envision what you might need for a 2k list you could easily be looking at multiple eidolons and turtles as well as your foot troops. So hobby wise and game wise I think there is plenty to get along with. That said I still want a giant kraken.

  7. The warscroll cards previewed in white dwarf indicate 14 units in the battletome.

My list suggests 12 of those are confirmed

    Eidolon
    Sea turtle
    Shark riders
    Eel riders
    Named guy on seahorse
    Generic guy on seahorse
    Wizard
    Lady wizard
    Hooky
    Octopus
    Archer troops
    Sword troops

This leaves us with two uncertain units. One is likely to be another version of the eidolon, possibly both could be this.

  8. I hope we get some tentacled creatures at somepoint beyond the one octopus. Don't get me wrong I love all the beasts previewed so far but I feel like they've put lots of giant tentacles in the art and something really deep ocean style would be nice.

Where are these pics from btw?
