Hi All.

If I have a unit of 30 vulkites strung out in a row across the width of the table,  according to the rule below all of them regardless of distance away from the enemy unit,  could throw their shields at them providing that the enemy unit is only 1/2 inch away from one model from my unit? 

seems a bit off to me.  Any thoughts?

That's the rule. It's not a ranged attack, it's played as written.

Yeah - it's a good impact hits rule - 5 mortal wounds for 30 models is about right (that's 6*80 points = 480 points).
