Ashtyn
Hi guys I'm thinking of running a large unit of Crypt flayers with Settra so they can cause mortal wounds on a 5+. Has anyone run a similar setup and had success? I'd appreciate any feedback
CoffeeGrunt
Sounds similar to Settra + Spirit Hosts, which is a combo I've had a lot of good times with. Can't remember the exact stats of Crypt Flayers and whether they'd do the job better, though.
Ashtyn
Well they are weaker then spirit hosts in the sense that they will be retaliated against. But if you take deadwatch, a necromancer, settra and a abhorrent on foot. You could potentially attack 3 times in 1 turn. 1 in the hero phase and twice in the combat phase. you cause mortal wounds on 5 ups and can dish out 5 attacks each due to the abhorrents spell. Chuck in 2 infernal courtiers and you can bring back a few models a turn. Obviously you need to protect these guys, but if the infernal are being targeted then the flayers can get to the enemy in paractically 1 turn. I guess the weakness with this setup is it banks all its damage into mortal wounds. And some armies are good at countering this.
CoffeeGrunt
Plus it's a lot of eggs in one baskets, all relying on spell rolls and positioning.
