Moving big models through terrain

Vextol

Question

Can models move over/through trees (thinking sylvaneth) if their bases can't fit between them?  Is this why they are removable or is that just for transport?

Also, with the new nurgle trees, it is possible to make a 'circle' around a point where the trees leave no more than a 1 inch gap for the entirety of the circle.  It's actually easier than you think.  If models cannot stand on these trees or move between them (due to the 1 inch gap), how do you get an objective point if you're someone like BCR who physically cannot fit through?

Dumb question, but still.  I was wondering how people handle moving through terrain like this.  It could actually be a pretty big deal.  If you parked 20 plague bearers on an objective and surrounded them with trees you couldn't shoot them (obviously you can, but they are very hard to hit) and you could at best get like...one model in combat with them.

Many tournaments (and GW's own suggestion in the GHB) play that you can move onto any piece of terrain, but you can't move through an area if the base can't fit (e.g. between two trees on a citadel wood).  So if that BCR model had enough movement, it could climb up, onto and over the Gnarlmaws.

Thanks!  Makes sense.  So not a bad plan still to surround a point with trees.

Not a bad plan at all.   Since most objective control criteria are "most models within X inches," if you screen half of the objective with Gnarlmaw(s) and only leave room on one side for your models it becomes very difficult for your opponent to contest it.
