I guess what I'm getting at is that there are better ways to play than taking "bad" units to get around a problem that you should be able to solve in list building.

    That is purely competitive approach.

But there is another approach with the same rule: build an army, include the things you like because it feels cool, or because it looks cool or both, then try your best to win or "to get around a problem that you should be able to solve in list building.". The list building is not always MATH, it include sometimes HEART. Example: I love the mourngul. Not the best unit. Problem: build the best list with him. Same with Olynder and the king. etc...

Hey, did I mention how dated the Hexwraith look?

You forget something really important: I admit that as soon as the new NH has been out, they took what we call in France "un coup de vieux" which means a hitting  in their age but...

The hex are PERFECTLY swapable with the black knight!! I won't speak here about the efficiency (of hex or BK) but model wise, it is one of the rarest unit perfectly swappable without magnetize. And as a death player, I am supper happy with that. BK look awesom BTW. And they are so beatiful in an skelleton army.

Indeed, although the my unit hasn't been wiped yet to use it

not really lol: I noticed that most of our full sized mobs units are really hard to wipe out, in fact, they almost never died (40 skellies., 30 reapers, 30 GG, ...) Only once, my Grave guard died but only at 20 mobs.:P

  4. TBH, The reapers can't do everything and they need some other stuff to shine.

This is the same for the coach. You can't always compare point for point damage for damage. In an army, there are hitters, there are supports, there are leaders, there are medics, there are utilities etc... Fortunately, it is the same in the game.

  5. Speaking about hex, how do you use their ability to MW when they fly over an enemy unit?

Second question: is this ability available when charging? (assuming that you can charge longer than the distance between them and their back)

  6. I'm also a big fan of cavalry. And I thought about a similar list.

My conclusions where: 2*10 hex is too much to be efficient, 2 dreadblades maybe but If I need some points, I'll sacrifice one to get 100p, and last but not least, model count is a bit short. Maybe 5hex+dread to get some reapers...

I wish the mourngul was more competetive and synonymous  with the coach. The coach is faster, has more wounds, more overall damage output, also selfheals, also replenishes units....and costs less points

I'm so with you on this one....(or not)

You forget one point in the difference between the mourn and the coach: Mourngul is ForgeWorld, the black coach is (NEW) Games Workshop. The former, who cares? the later has to be push forward for big sales (for ROI on moulding).

I have both (well, to be build). The mourngul is one of my all time fav  but it is pale and tiny on the table where there is this huge new coach.

  8. I feel that this list lack of something. You have only 2 heavy hitters, one of them super expensive yet not really great at mobility.

For me, evo are best  at units of 5 or 10 tops.

PS: I'm not sure if grandstave are optimal, especialy with no rend. But I understand that in a unit of 15 the 2" reach may be important

  9. They already did it in the previous release. Unfortunately.

I think that it is the last week of new SCE/NH unit. We won't see any AoS news for a while now with everythink upcoming for Titans, 40K, codex, kill team etc...

Im quite confused as to just how similar Glavewraiths and Bladegheists

their roles are quite different. The reapers are the center anvil, hitting hard, protecting some HQ, and supremly fixing the ennemy line - if not breaking it.

The glaves are more a mobile hammer, hitting like a truck by themselves  in a hit charge hit charge danse. The enemy can't ignore tham but have to think what to do with them. 10 or 15 are enough to be efficient.
