    Sorcerers are always good, we have some nice spells.

    I just built the chimera. You can build both the lord and sorcerer and just switch them. But I haven't tried any of them yet. Might be a bit pricey for how squishy it is with the sorceror maybe?

    Can't speak for the slaughterbrute or vortex beast except they look cool. And if you want lots of Monsters you might want to consider playing as Despoilers for that 4+ heal on all your big boys. Which means you'll want a daemon prince too.

    Daemon princes are great with their new warscroll (I liked them in Blades of Khorne before the change, and I love them now!).  And they get lots of love in a Despoiler army.

    So which is the better option (for me both look cool :D ), or maybe someone can suggest what to buy to raise my start collecting army to 1k points.

  2. Fellow followers of the Dark Gods. I have a question, currently painting my start collecting which is

    - 10 warriors 200pts

    - 5 knights 180pts

    - lord on karka 250pts

    Aiming for 1000points army - thinking of getting a foot sorcerer & Slaughterbrute or Sorcerer Lord on Chimera - what you think ?

    Or maybe something else - has to be cool to play (and pref non-horde), don't have to be OP.

    Have you tried it putting a wash/contrast paint directly over Corax white?  Nihilakh isn't a "normal" paint, so it wouldn't surprise me if that were doing it and Abaddon Black wasn't.  Pics would be good though - fingers crossed!

    Managed to solve this issue by mixing it 1:5 with Lahmian medium.

    Thanks for help

    Sounds to me like an undercoat issue where the spray isn't adhering to the plastic and potentially has been applied too thickly.  Corax White is a really dodgy spray paint to use, it's really temperamental depending upon the atmospheric conditions and will randomly go chalky for no apparent reason.

    What I'd be tempted to do is to undercoat using Grey Seer spray and then lightly brighten with Corax White spray to make it a little brighter.  Grey Seer is a lot more reliable as a spray paint.  I'd also suggest to give a GW spray overnight to cure properly.  Although it's technically workable after a fairly short time, it won't have hardened off fully.

    But this issue only happens with Nihilakh. Its a second pot that i bought - before had the same issue so replaced it :|

    Waiting for my new can of Corax while stripping failed models. Will share photos when i have something.

    I've painted an entire unit of Chainrasp using pure Nihilak Oxide on a base of Corax White. In some spots it happened that, once dried, the coat resulted a little bit chalky/grainy. Is this what you mean?

    Anyway, I used lahmian on a couple of heroes: it seemed better, but I'm not sure if merit goes to the medium or to a special attention on more important models :)

    What I mean is that it looks like agrellan earth when too much gathers in some recess area.

    Hi Verengard, I try to answer you, cos my NH army is mostly painted with nihilakh oxide.

    I think the key is absolutely avoid pooling, moving or taking out the excess with the brush (you can also use a dry brush, in order to absorb the color).
    Another solution could be mixing the nihilakh oxide with lahmian medium, instead of using it pure.

    Maybe pro painters have more illuminating advices :)

    Thanks for the advices, your is also cracking when it pools ?

    Do you mix it with lahmian ?

    Well the options are a King on Gryph or the Lord and the Gryph is 400pts... I gave the Lord a Runeblade for -3 rend.

    Enchantress has the DAMSEL keyword so does that not work for the errants?

    Missed that, it works.

    Hi,

    French player here, sorry i don't speak English well.

    I want to build a city of sigmar army but i am afraid that the army is just a one shot with nothing after. (no new model, no battletome in the next edition, etc...)

    Do you think it's safe to start this army from nothing or do you not recommand to start this army ?

    If you can't decide between CoS and some other army I would take something else - more future proof.

    But if you realy like the CoS then go for it.

    My Lords and Ladies!

    Doing some list-bashing with the Brets I've come up with this, thoughts?

    Lord - Runeblade

    Enchantress

    Noble Champion

    Sacred Protector

    2x8 Knights Errant

    8 Knights of the Realm

    5 Grail Knights

    32 Bowmen

    Trebuchet

    Feels like it might at least have some legs. Archers and Treb put out nice damage at range and the 30 Knights that start on the table basically play aggressive with the Lord granting reroll charges. Enchantress buffs whoever needs it. Protector appears and makes a nuisance of himself, hopefully within range of the re-roll charges ability. Noble Champ babies the peasants.

    2 issues with this list

    1) you are missing no1 killer -> king with proper weapons

    2) you dont have damsel which gives errant knights buffs - my bad missed the keyword

    Oh, mine don't seem to have mail, but they are not the finest models by any meaning of the word (mid-90's plastic). Yeah, if they are barded with metal, it sounds perfectly fine.

    6th edition horses (2004+) have barding

    barding.png

    Although playing as Darklings is also possible:

    Lord on black dragon -> Put Bret lord on dragon

    Sorceress -> Damsel

    Sorceress on black dragon -> Put Bret damsel on dragon

    Drakespawn knights ->Bret knight

    Darkshards -> bowmen

    Dreadspears -> Man at arms

    The hydra thing -> some dragon without wings

    Also from Ironweld:

    Helstorm rocket battery -> Treb (the warscroll is very simmilar)

    Cogsmith -> Some smart peasant (after all a peasant invented the trebs) or some oldschool dwarf (I dont like the new model)

    This - nice, easy and and cheap way to get loads of demis.

    This seems a lot more heavily armoured, reflecting the 3+ save

    TBH I would not go this way of understanding since the stats are very simplified comparing to WFB. Liberators have 4+ save being living bunkers, freeguild guard with swords have 4+  almost without any armor (power of the codpiece 🤣),  chaos knights have 4+ having super heavy armor blessed by the dark gods on them and horses.

    The problem with mixing Aelves with Freeguild is that you won't get any nice buffs from heroes or batalion. And without buffs to make this competetive whats the point of using new rules instead of the dedicated Bret compendium. Or maybe you have some nice idea of using only the Aelven warscrolls ?

  13. 21 hours ago, zilberfrid said:

    Yeah, that works too I guess.

    I just think that they don't fit Demigryphs all that well, the mounts don't look armoured with steel, and they are way smaller than demis, while the 4+ save on dark riders fits the outfit perfectly (there, I have the issue that vanilla dark riders seem underdressed).

    I even made one of the brett knights into an outrider, but that was too much work.

    Seems legit for me (photo from google, not mine)

    Hello everyone! I registered to join this post about Bretonnia! I'm trying to assemble and paint a bretonnian force to play AoS. I'm uploading my progress on instagram and I hope you enjoy it. I read all the discussion and I'm working on a 1500 point list...

    How you remove the base adapter ?  Bend it a little ?

    41 minutes ago, zilberfrid said:

    Hi, they look good!

    I know it's a bit heresy, but you could look into using the Knights of the Realm as Dark Riders, I know I am going to do just that (well, their horses are going to the outriders, but the knights themselves on empire horses will be Dark Riders).

    I've been thinking about this, but then you don't get buff from General or cant use the battalion. For me it seems to be a better option to put some on demigryph size bases, add a gryph hound or maybe some bretonnian style hunting hounds and use as demigryphs.

    If your using the old cavalry torsos with a little filing and putty the flagellants work great, their legs dynamic pose working well with the old bret cavalry poses. Bam poor fellows of the lady ready to guard her pilgrim ways and defend the road shrines.

    Hmm kinights running with bare feet, dont like that idea :P currently i found only the 3 torsos from man at arms/bowmen command sprue fitting (except the fat guy)

    I think the Steam Tank could be easily replaced by a dragon. Is not a beast on CC, but it could spit lots of fire!

    Hellstorm can be replaced easily by a Catapult, hellblaster maybe by some kind of repeater balista.

    I'm a huge fan of conversioning questiong knights into foot knghts, but's a really expensive option.

    That's all the list from the Free Peoples for Cities of Sigmar? Do you try to build your own city or you will use an existing one?

    You can check what is avaible on GW website, think its all "human" have to offer.

    Hellstorm warscroll seems to fit the Trebuchet.

    Yes, for questing knights i'm also thinking it might work to convert them to greatswords. Just thinking which legs will fit?.

    What it lacks is not love from the designer, but commitment from the company. GW did not give it a single new mold, and it feels like there are a few holes in the book that would have been plugged by culled sets. That's not on the designers, but higher up the food chain.

    I don't distinguish between designers, managers etc - for us players what counts is the end result which is far from what was expeced, sadly.

  18. 3 hours ago, Overread said:

    I don't see that. If GW wanted to discontinue the Cities armies I think they would have just discontinued them. Moving to 2.0 is the last perfect time for them to remove armies (like they have done with Greenskins and most of the Highelf stuff) before cementing them into the future of AoS as a game. If they start culling whole armies again its going to throw a spanner in the works and lose so much marketing and consumer confidence in AoS.

    Instead I think we will see one of several approaches:

    1) They will flesh out Cities and expand upon it, new and updated sculpts replacing existing ones to build upon what they've established.

    2) They will treat it a bit like Legions of Nagash. A short term catch all combined arms army that keeps several concepts and armies ticking over and popular and will then address, in time, aspects of the army. So in 5 years we might see them release an update to Dwarves which uses most/all of the models in Cities and expands upon them, adding reinforcements and updating some sculpts along the way.
    Note this doesn't mean they all get an update, it might just mean that one or two aspects get updated and expanded upon, since Cities would still remain.

    Notice that they just left the most recent kits - you dont want to waste products, better to sell them releasing a book.
     If they would like to build and army on top of them they would release separate stuff like DoK.

    Truth is, the main issue is space. Production is real cheap. The molds already exist, and that is by far the most expensive part of the process. They could print into infinity old kits provided they had a place to put them. The big issue GW runs in to is space issues, not production costs.

    And logistics.

    I'm far from a hater about the release, but it's just lacking any love... looks like a filler. What's sad the Orcs book also did not get any new models or even Spells & terrian...

  19. The answer is very simple, they needed to do something with their stocks, so a temporary solution was needed called Cities of Sigmar - all latest kits & warehouse obs were moved to the book while the rest was wiped out.

    In the future they will release new human (high fantasy style human army), aelven (already have a teaser in form of Shadespire warband), duardin ('ground' dwarves) factions and the cities get discontinued.

  20. Okay updated my list:

    - Freeguild General on Griffon --> Louen Leonceour

    - Freeguild General on Foot --> any foot knight, pref Chevalier Eremite because he has 2h sword

    - Freeguild Guard with Halberd --> Man at Arms (easy conversion if you want spear [change tip] or sword [change hand])

    - Freeguild Crossbowman --> Peasant Bowman (know the weapon does not exactly match, but should be no issue), alternatively Man at Arms with some crossbow hands

    - Freeguild Handgunners --> no idea, maybe Man At Arms with with something like this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hand_cannon

    - Freeguild Outriders / Pistoliers --> Yeomen, the bow does not match warscoll but should not be issue, if you want accurate match make something like this and attach to them: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hand_cannon

    - Flagellants --> Pilgrims, replace big base with 4 x 25mm for the carriers of reliquary for extra 4 models

    - Battlemage --> Damsel

    - Battlemage on Griffon --> kick Louen off his mount and replace with a damsel

    - Demigryph Knights --> Any knights on bigger bases with Gryph Hounds on their side

    - Luminark, Hurricanum --> Replace horses for Bretonnian ones, remove comets, sigmar stuff replace with Lily flowers and other Bret stuff, kick the mage and add a foot Damsel

    - Steam Tank --> Replace decoration with Bretonnian ones, replace commander with some Bret guy.

    - Hellstorm / Hellblaster --> maybe some mangonell ? Simple version - replace crew with Trebuchet crew, remove Empire decorations

    - Greatswords --> and this is the issue, only idea i have is Man at Arms bodies with 2H sword and knight heads

  21. Fellow knights, with the upcomming Cities of Sigmar book, there might be an oppurtunity to field our minis with new rules (with proxing) and creating our own "Free City". What my picks are

    Bowmen -> sisters of the watch / Freeguild Crossbowmen

    Man at Arms -> Freeguild Halberdiers

    Hero on foot -> Freeguild General

    Hero on horse -> ??

    King -> Freeguild General on griffon

    Damsel on foot -> Collegiate Mage (dunno if he will be included tho)

    Damsel on horse -> ??

    Enchantress -> ??

    Yeomen -> Dark Riders

    Knights -> Drakespawn Knights

    Questing knights -> ??

    Grail Knight -> Demigryphs

    Pegasus -> ??

    Treb -> ??

    Pilgrims -> flagelants (dont know about the reliquary tho)

    Your suggestions ?
