  1. New Lumineth stuff being "slightly worse" than old Lumineth stuff doesn't get them to Slaanesh level because old Lumineth stuff was pretty amazing.

Also, I'd rather have slightly worse units with funny tricks than the bland barren desert Slaanesh got for rules on most of their warscrolls (Glutos aside)

So, I kind of noticed something weird; recently GW has been releasing a number of rules previews for the new Lumineth release coming out, which is completely opposite of what we received.

Back in late January/early February I speculated that one of the reasons why we were not seeing a healthy number of rule teasers for HoS was because GW wasn’t confident in the warscrolls and rules, and didn’t want to deflate hype going into the release (which would potentially decrease sales).

However, we can see the opposite is true of Lumineth, who are getting much more coverage. This could indicate that the design or marketing team is more confident with what’s being released, which if true reflects that they knew the HoS release was going to be bad coming out of the gate.

I sort of expected that the FAQ would not have point adjustments this early, but it should of at least fixed Fiendbloods. Anyways, the whole thing feels really weird and sketchy.

I'm more and more convinced the Hedonites book was a rushed job to go with the minis. The lack of flavorful/special rules for the units, not changing the hosts even if they don't make sense fluffwise anymore, not including the new fluff and the general lazyness of the book compared to other releases seem to point that way.

Well, if each and every army matched their fluff everyone would be invincible, right? There need to be some semblance of gameplay balance first and foremost.

Granted, some units are probably overcosted even when considering the summoning powers, but let's see how they perform over a few games first. There is already some valuable information given in this discussion by people playing, so progress is being made!

How come then that some armies are allowed to match their fluff and other don't? And matching their fluff hardly means being invincible at all, that's a pretty ridiculous statement as I'm not talking about the power of the book (even if it seems pretty meh) but about its uniqueness and fitness to the fluff of the army.

Emails today won't do much to generate any real data. Just yesterday everyone was jumping for joy; now its the bitter cold morning after and everyone is thinking again. Give it another day and it will be jumps of joy again. It's too swingy and uncoordinated.

I haven't seen anybody jumping for joy since we have all the info. What i see are overpriced pillowfisted units with no finesse required to play, and for me this should be anathema to all Slaanesh is supposed to be going by the lore.

It's gonna be really funny if the second half of the Lumineth book comes out and makes Lumineth even more powerful in even gimmickier ways right after they toned down DoK and Slaanesh gimmicks.

I have 0 doubts that's what's gonna happen. Hedonites mortals feel like just boring toned down LRL.

By the way, if GW is so worried about power creep and broken armies (they aren't), how come they didn't release an AoS FAQ?

Agreed and its encouraging to see GW more cautious about making them overpowered verses underpowered. There's a few that seem rather weak in warscrolls at present, however some synergies might appear that boost them.

On the whole its encouraging that no one has yet seen a super-power combo like before. Because that, as noted earlier, means a greater chance that the army has multiple functional powerful builds from different approaches. Seeker heavy; demon heavy; mortal heavy; leader heavy - etc.... basically multiple different flavours for your plate of excess (see see I did a food pun!) Far better than 1 flavour that overpowers the dish.

When most of the new warscrolls are just variations of the same 3+/4+/-1/1 statline with little or no variation of rules I'd say that's no flavour. Hopefully at least Fiends are usable now, Glutos is great and the Sigvald mini is worth the money just to paint him. The rest, meh...  I mean, our ELITE troops are basically Liberators

  7. I don't really mind if units are a little overcosted, but what gets me is the total lack of creativity and lore/stats relation with the exception of Glutos. It feels really lazy, the example with the Blissbarb arrows and the Symbaresh weapons being the most egregious one.

Why couldn't most new units be more like Glutos and the Shardspeaker? Not powerwise but varietywise

Slaangor are terrible for their price, old daemonettes beat them in every aspect. I cannot find new daemonettes tho, but they still cost 110 agaisnt the worst at everything slaangors that cost 140.

One of the mortal spells give +1 to hit vs an enemy unit, but you got to beat the bravery of the unit in a 2d6 roll, extremelly unreliable. The sharspeaker +1 to wound is good tho, but i cannot see it saving the slaangor warscroll, they hit on 4+.

Daemonette heroes going up 20 to 40 pts is interesting, i want to see the warscrolls, maybe now they are really good somehow, a better spell would help. If Enrapturess keep generating DP now is gonna matter a lot more because cost of DP are really low, maybe she is now a wizard or have 2 long range attacks instead of 1. I don't know, im very excited.

Painbringers seems really similar to chosen. I was planing to play chosen before the mortals were anounced. I hope they are not just worst chosen in the end, the shield got to do something.

I cannot see Twinsouls working without rend or MW output.

Chariots going up too, maybe they are better now.

Keepers going down as expected, they no longer resummon themselfs. But i can see some buffs to the stat lines if they cost so much. They are cheap DP cost tho. I hope shields, knifes and whips get a cool rework. The spell lore for greater daemons is amazing right now. (Spell that make you fly, spell that heal you, spell that block movement, charge and command abilities to an enemy hero.  All of them easier to cast than before)

We will see the long awaited rework of the keeper basic spell? Ther is a lot of warscrolls i cannot find.

The battalion that allows you to shoot blissbarb archers in the hero phase tho... Shootslaanesh is coming!

Daemonette heroes are the same, so are Enrapturesses (except no Depra gain) and KoS. The shields on Myrms lets them reroll saves. Costs are strange for warscrolls that didn't change and I agree all the mortals seem overcosted somehow, maybe GW is wary of the OP nature of the old Depravation.

Also, they are DULL. I expected more special rules when I read the fluff, like the archers lacing their arrows with toxins and Venom doing nothing unless the +1 to wound if the Homunculus is alive is meant to represent that, and if it is I find it lazy AF. The only creative warscroll is Glutos, coincidentally the most expensive model money wise too; I guess all the love went to LRL.

    Sorry to crush your hopes

Besides Hedonites, Kurnothi are my second most hoped after army.

That being said, we are now talking about quite a lot of new armies.

GW has always had stories or even one off miniatures of certain factions that were  never properly fleshed out as standalone factions.

Remember the Darkoath from previous WH Quests

Its surelly is possible, but if that was the case wouldn't they talk about the new things by now rather than just show the same rules but with pictures of the new models? Honestly at this point I wouldn't be surprised if the allegiance ability where the same (depravity included) and the only new additions, gamewise, where 11 warscrolls + 3 battalions.

This is exactly what i'm expecting at this time and it might make me not buy anything, i don't like to pay for lazy uninspired work. Also i would be pretty pissed about them replacing the less than 2 years old battletome with literally the same battletome without addressing the glaring problems the faction is facing (namely the fact that bringing troops is useless)

I am seriously annoyed at this point.

We are 9 days away from a complete overhaul of an army we know nothing about. The model is gorgeous. They all are. We saw they were gorgeous when you unveiled them ages ago.

Tell us what these things DO, GW. Give us something - ANYTHING - to prove this won't be a repeat of "six heroes leaning on broken, disjointed, unfun summoning mechanics skewed against multi wound lists."

I'm starting to fear the book is gonna be the same book we already have with the mortals tacked in, and the little information we have does nothing to point otherwise

All 40000 spam and then for aos no soulbligth army.....great preview.

But the vampires of shadespire are great and it seems citys gonna get other focus in the next broken realm so it isnt all lost

What 40000 spam? They literally showed 2 40k products, 3 if you count Titanicus while all the rest was AoS related + the leaks we already got this week
