Life as a chaos player is easy... daemons and lots of core units will likely be shared between the two systems. 😇. I suspect this is why we got no real multi-part Chaos Warrior kit yet. 🤔. Perhaps the new ones will be designed around being able to be put in rank and file again (or they simply won't update it at all). Personally I hope that the new bases will be bigger, so that the minis for TOW can be designed a tiny bit more freely than those back in WHFB.

You talk like OW is not gonna come out by 2025 or later

Are you honestly calling skaven a Mary Sue faction? The faction where everyone is either stabbing each others back, high on Warp-crack or enslaved and thrown to their deaths on the front lines?  The faction where every single grand scheme crumbles without fail? Do you know what a Mary Sue is? 😂

They are a Mary Sue because even when we are told how bad their society is and how they are constantly sabotaging themselves (supposedly) somehow all of that never amounts to anything real because they always succeed in whatever they do without anybody being able to oppose them. So yes, they are quite the Mary Sue and yes, I know what a Mary Sue is, thanks for the attempt at discrediting me because you don't like my opinion.

Personally, I think we can do fine within our faction. I've never relied on outside help besides a few chaos warrior cheap battleline (which was never super important and was replaceable). I did do an Archaon game, but Archaon was killed turn 1 by being shot to death (in all fairness, it was very bad luck).

No doubt, Belekor is good, but he's hardly necessary for a win - you could likely do really well with him, but he's just a useful tool. Though one thing to watch out for is that his save can't be improved (or made worse). The big issue you'd have would be keeping him alive as there's not much that helps him survive. At least the KoS can take an artifact and get a +1 save.

Just curious, have you played many games? If so, how did they go? What did you struggle with?

I've played 3 games until now, and what i've found is this:

    - i like the 3.0 changes for the game, just not for Slaanesh

    - our Battleline selection SUCKS, which is frustrating (especially for me because i can't stand how ugly Hellstriders are)

    - we are a glass cannon faction, just without the cannon bit

    - and the most frustrating thing which will probably make me move to another army; i can't play interesting units, because we have almost none (our elite tanking units are just worse Chaos Warriors/Liberators f.e.), and now i can't play the miniatures i love because they are too expensive and either hamstring the rest of my army or prevent me from taking other miniatures i love (Keeper, Painbringers, Seekers)

The way i see it i'll maybe play Slaanesh from time to time, but the frustration when trying to build lists i like and play miniatures i esthetically love is just not worth it; everything (EVERYTHING) is just too expensive and the list of units that are decent (not even good, just decent) is so narrow i can't see myself playing the faction often. And i'm not going to buy any new kit like Dexcessa or Glutos after GW crapping on the faction time and again and again.

  4. So besides Mark of Tzeencht Stormcast also got RR 1s on saves from the Castellant which makes their battlelines with All Out Defense either 3+/ignore 1 Rend/RR 1s or 3+/5+ ward/RR 1s. They are actually better than before with the combo.

Taking into account you need a LoP to make Painbringers Battleline and the 160 points they cost I think they could have let them keep at least RR 1s so they really felt like an elite unit. Shalaxi and Shardspeaker are just overcosted.

Edit: I GOT IT ALL WRONG :D

  5. I agree with your entire post, but its 160 points for ten wounds. Still, the fact that Liberators, one of the the most vanilla, old and average/bad units i can think of are way better than Painbringers should say a lot about the state they left them in. On the other hand, Sequitors are battleline and got a ward for their "reroll all saves" ability, but they lost their "reroll all 1s" and got nothing in return just to differentiate them from Libs.

  6. Honestly I'm getting a little tired or "just wait for the points", "just wait fof the FAQ", "just wait for the next FAQ", "just wait for campaign book". We already got to all of those and everyone of them was just another kick in the teeth. We have absolutely 0 reasons to think that's gonna improve

Maybe it's time to switch armies, or games.

Edit: don't forget the nerf to wheels after their 100% price hike

  7. Sorry, by "random" I meant "they don't have a clue what they are doing", hence amateur hour. Also, helping some units that are hurting but nerfing other units that are also hurting for me is the very definition of "no rhyme or reason". Or removing all our strike first/last mechanics and then reintroducing them.

I agree tho this is gonna be a 40k-esque "if you got an updated codex you are OK, if you don't you might as well not bother" edition. Shame we won't have one for a loooong time.

  8. Except Sequitors got their "reroll all saves" turned into a 5+ ward and as you just said some "reroll 1s" got turned into "ignore Rend - 1" (which is basically the same in a world with Mystic Shield and All Out Defense) and other got the "+1 save" treatment. It seems to me like there I absolutely no rhyme or reasons to this, the same than with some of the point changes.

As to your "Sylvaneth needed the help": didn't Shardspeaker, Shalaxi and Painbringers too? It's not like they were star players in 2.0 neither. Hell, didn't Liberators need some help too?

They reroll 1s, which is good - pretty good on a modified 2+ or 3+ save.

It's also balanced against (ie, opportunity cost) pretty significant offensive buffs in a faction sometimes starved for offense, so...

Just like for all ther other units it was balanced by either lack of offense or higher points cost, but GW decided not to take any of that into account and made a blanket change not minding if it was "reroll 1s" or "reroll everything" and leaving some units out of it altogether. It seems like amateur hour to me.

  10. So Wheels nerfed, Painbringers nerfed, Shalaxi nerfed, Shardspeaker nerfed, because they REALLY need the nerf. I get those were general changes, but they fact the just copy pasted everything and didnt even bother to think about how those changes affected each faction before adjusting the points (again with another indiscriminate copy paste) shows they dont care about game balance at all. This is just shameful coming from a comoany as big and veteram as GW.

I mean, whats even the point of Painbringers or Shalaxi now?

Random nerf (and then a random buff) on Slaanesh - how weird...

(Painbringers no longer reroll saves, get a +1 instead, and one of the endless spells grants Always Strike Last. Bizarre changes)

Seems like Slaanesh can't have nice things

  12. But you see, you can't compare Slickblades costs to Blood Knights costs because ZUMM0N1NG!!!!!. You know, it's a little known fact that the other factions got no allegiance abilities so they don't have to pay for them while we have our "maybe one unit/round summoning" now that games are much shorter, then our wonderful locus of diversion now that monster and hero spam are gonna be commoner and exploding 6s (admittedly, this is good and wasn't nerfed beyond not affecting S2D) while factions like LRL have to make do with a mere 4535383 allegiance rules. That's why we are overcosted but the other factions aren't.

Thinking about Syn and her unlimited range, she could be used as a counter to a player who likes to castle up say a teclis with pretty decent movement. She stays well outside unbind range while sending pavanes teclis way granted it’s a high cast spell but could be enough to force the player to move teclis outside his safe zone to unbind her or they choose to sit back and potentially get blown up over a few turns….. thoughts?

Lobbing magic at Teclis will never be a good idea, even less so now that he can heal in both hero phases. You have a 50% chance to cast Pavane, then Teclis has a 50% to flat out ignore it, and after that you'll average 4 MWs with him healing 2d3 a round if he feels like it.
