  1. I think any token can work as it will remind you that something is in effect, can usually then remember what it is if prompted like that.

Ive based some individual nurglings on 20mm bases to paint up and use for this reason, I do have the specific MDF tokens but they do spoil the look of the board a bit.

I know you can go mad trying to parse every single sentence GW puts out for hidden meanings, clues and the like but...

" In 2019, we’ll be seeing even more, including powerful and strange new options available to any faction…"

Does leave some wriggle room for something other just another another box of faction agnostic spells, we'll obviously get more faction specific ones over the course of the year but if we are looking at another Malign Sorcery style boxset with updated rulebook there's always a chance it could be something similar but who knows maybe something like 'Arcane Scenery', various magical odds and sods that any army can use not just ones with wizards.

But hey who knows, we'll just have to wait and see.

For a wild moment I thought it could be generic monsters to take as mounts for heroes etc, but I don’t know if it would fit with the whole ‘no model no rules’ shtick given how it would only work with conversions.

  3. Even if they didn’t make a huge free people’s release I think the setting would massively improve if more focus was given to a normal human faction. It grounds the whole setting. I’ve never owned a human army but it’s still my point of comparison to the ones I do own; my skeletons feel terrifying cause I know if I had to fight them it would be terrifying, my nurgle are disgusting as they would disgust any sane person, my Orcs seem savage and cruel compared to human soldiers fighting to protect their civilised homes. Giant immortal thunder warriors just can not provide this anchor (in my opinion, obviously!)

Forgive me, I'm not very well versed in AoS lore, but aren't Ironjawz and Bonesplitterz defined to a significant degree by how they are different than normal orruks? It seems like without a baseline orruk things might get a little weird, although I could certainly see them replacing the models. and changing up the units and rules quite a bit.

Yeah I think that’s a pretty accurate summary,  but I still don’t think it means Orruks and Gitmob are safe from removal unfortunately.

By the way you can still find the war scrolls for the removed Goblin units through google, I’ve just saved them all.

Some good thoughts here, I kind of agree that some of the old line still needs to be shunted off for AoS to really take on its own thing. Would be nice for them to more clearly define what is getting support. For example, I would love to get a Devoted of Sigmar army going, but the idea that they are no longer a worthwhile investment does stay my hand.

I think this is the key, a bit of honesty about what’s gonna happen with the factions before people invest money and time in an army that is then rendered (practically) useless.

  6. Greenskinz are already dropping out, I know not every region is the same but in the UK the warboss is NLA and I can’t see the start collecting box on there either.

I’ve got myself a growing Orcs and Goblins army that I love but I’ve always been half expecting this. It is what it is, and I really enjoy the AoS setting and am happy to play with the newer factions (please dont get rid of the skaven though GW!)

I’m seriously considering re-rebasing my Greenskins to squares and playing some 6th Ed WHFB with them.

Its also odd that none of the stuff that's vanished over the last month or so has been listed as "last chance to buy" before hand. There was a point where they seemed to always list stuff like that before it went out of stock, presumably to persuade people to rush out and get it before it was gone.

I'm not quite sure when they stopped doing this, but I do seem to recall a couple of times when stuff was removed for re-basing, without being listed as gone for good.

Would have worked on me, would have snaffled up some goblin wolf riders!

Are you sure. That’s the way Gw will be going, because For some reason I have a feeling that Gw exactly wants us to think like that just to be surprised by a  gitmob greenskinz update.

they did it with boc why not with green-things

(also the Orruk from the greenskinz we’re heavily mentioned in the short story)

I certainly hope I’m wrong, I love my Greenskins!

That is a very interesting observation.

It sucks to see things go away, but I am confident enough now in the direction they are taking the game in the future that I would like to see them just rip the scab off and discontinue the forces that they don't plan to support as soon as they fully make that decision.

We know that they have plans for a number of new future armies (light & shadow elves for example) and if they keep a lot of the existing ranges, even after bundling them together, that makes for a lot of army books and product lines.  They need to figure out how to effectively consolidate and keep what they plan to save or expand from the past while still making room for the future lines.  I would like to see them make a serious effort to handle the legacy stuff in some fashion and get us out of the WFB/AoS limbo that a lot of stuff is still in.

And I say that as someone who has a very large Gitmob force that I will have to figure out what I want to do with.

It wasn’t long ago they produced an article about what an unsung hero the Orruk Warboss was, and he was No Longer Available a few days later.

If GW are going to get rid of old Orcs and Goblins then it’s a shame but understandable, but saying “everything’s fine, keep buying them” when the plan is to axe them shortly is pretty poor.

I think the writing has been on the wall for a while for the Greenskinz and Gitmob for a while, seems like this might be it.

  10. I’d love a huge 12,000 points a side game... I have no concept of how long it would take or how big a table you’d need but I’m sure it would be a blast.

Epilogue; I was right about my chrimbo tree... between Christmas and my birthday yesterday I pushed the Nurgle army to 8.5K, and I think i may roll my beastmen into it and push it past 10,000!

I just spied Warhammer Quest in the shelf there, bravo! You must have a good percentage of the monster lists within this amazing collection.

  12. It’s actually grown a bit but this is the last muster of my Nurgle army, it’s just ticked past 7000 and I believe there’s a few Nurgley goodies under the chrimbo tree as well.7513CF44-B1F5-4BB7-9CF8-5C167D3A2D16.jpeg.9bd36b9fab550ce728eebceb4372c38a.jpeg

I don’t think i’ll ever stop adding to the army, it’s always fun and a forgiving hobby project... if I make a mistake I can just blob on some Nurgle’s rot.

Of course, a skaven army just feels naked if it doesn’t have a core of at least 800-1300clanrats.

(but sadly  that’ll have to wait until I’ve finished painting most of my skaven stuff, so maybe a possible goal in 2years)

I’d love to see what 1300 clan rats looks like on a tabletop!

Kind of ties into my own resolution to embrace the collecting side of the hobby and build the armies I have to ginormous levels rather than get distracted and start any more! I’m moving in the new year and will be able to have a dedicated area for my minis rather than packed away in boxes, so I want my Nurgle army especially to look like an actual army on display, kind of like the cover of the Lost and Damned.

I also want to get into the narrative side of the game and make up some battle plans that are fun, away from the 2000 point standard. (Any narrative / narrative curious players in Essex by the way?)

Well my main goal for 2019 will be to finish of, painting my 2000p boc army (and maybe some skaven models).

as a secondary objective, I’ll be aiming to add another 13’000 to my skaven collection.

although that might need more than just a year.

for a third and possible objective (rather than the second one) I’ll be aiming to rebase my skaven army.

    ANOTHER 13,000... awesome.

IDK, I feel like GW are ignoring Greenskinz in the bad way and not in the "we are purposely ignoring them because we have an awesome plan for them in the coming months" way.

    Got to agree here.

Hopeully they just get rolled in with ironjawz, it makes narrative sense that the normal Orruks would follow the big guys around, and it would give them a role.
