Considering the newness of the Sons of Behemat, this is likely the only way they'd have gotten a 3e update for awhile. I do think the use of White Dwarf as a way to provide "patches" to armies is probably a fair way to do it. I wonder if Lumineth or DoK may be next. Perhaps SBGL.
I figured faction-specific core battalions, grand strategies, and battle tactics were inevitable honestly. And to be frank, I still think core battalions will never reach the stage of absurdity and abuse that battletome ones did. This is still a more fair system.

I'd say that Azgorh should be able to ally with any of the Chaos God armies, and fractiously with other stuff in Chaos, but not ally with anything in Order or Death at all. Fyreslayers seem to be the usual exception to Chaos and Order not being able to ally, but I don't think they'd work with the Dawi Zharr, who must hate the fyreslayers for infringing their whole "dwarves of fire" trademark.
I'd actually give Dawi Zharr the ability to ally with most if not all of destruction though, since mixed orc and dwarf armies are kind of their thing, and they have slave ogres and giants even today. If this were the old world, you could exclude Ironjaws due to the whole black orc incident, but in the mortal realms I don't think that matters any more. An Azgorh - destruction alliance probably wouldn't be an equitable one, more them enslaving the other faction of course.
In some ways that could give them an interesting option to open up the field completely. What if they could ally with anything, but had rules for slave revolts if their troops got out of hand. Something to play around with in open play perhaps!
I like it, but I'd like it more if we had more than three artifacts and command traits available as well as an actual spell lore.

I really hope there is some update for Forge World.
-
Wonder if Legion of Azgorh will get any forms of changes because of how lorewise and mechanically we're so tied to the Realm of Fire.

I think we'll realistically see a revisit of Nurgle and Slaanesh before we get a new Chaos army, but I do think a Vampire army is likely. That said, I think Neferata should run it. For Destruction, I think they could do a Creatures of Chaos style army covering various new monsters who worship or embody various aspects of Gorkamorka, or an army of Elementals inspired on the old Incarnate Elementals from FW, the concept being primordial beings of the Realms aligning with Destruction to remove the unnatural (in their eyes) influence of Grand Alliances Death, Chaos, and Order.

If Chaos were to get any NEW Factions I would wager Chaos Duardin would be the first choice. They already exist and have a rabid fanbase.
They have the classic 4 and now the Skaven so where else would they go to expand the Faction besides Slaneesh mortals? Unless they invented an all new Faction I would wager they would be first choice.
So my only issue is that Chaos Duardin already exist as a faction in my eyes, as the LoA. I'd rather GW and FW support their only Age of Sigmar Forgeworld army than put out a Chaos Duardin army.

Hahaha, Yeah I played fantasy in my teen years. I remember desperately waiting for an update for books and it taking forever. Also Chaos Dwarves never got an update 😥
Legion of Azgorh player. All I want is an update. New artifacts, command traits, a spell lore, etc. Don't leave LoA feeling like it's stuck in AoS 1.0.

I'll admit I've had a great deal of anxiety over Legion of Azgorh and their future. I love the army, but it feels almost like playing AoS 1.0 sometimes with how basic are Allegiance Abilities are. We have no spell lore, no unique terrain, no endless spells or equivalents, and barely any current lore. I'm afraid that they'll end up like getting more and more models gradually cut. There have been more Azgorh units lost than gained since Age of Sigmar released.

Well, with the release of the new FEC Battletome I'd say roughly 100%.
To be fair I'd completely forgotten the FEC battletome.
-
What are the possibility of "do-over" battletomes? Where they go and rewrite, revise, etc some of the older books and AoS factions that haven't held up as well as newer factions.

Except the caption to the photo was:
"This bruiser will be smashing his way into Warhammer Underworlds in the not too distant future."
What if WH: Underworlds gets a mercenary system akin to Necromunda?
-
Conspiracy theory: Slaanesh indirectly influenced the Grots to become Mushrook addicts to provide extra power to her/him.
-
Honestly they probably can't say much more because they have to promote the Orks and Beasts of Chaos. Announcing Grots/Slaanesh/Darkoath would only shoot themselves in the foot.

Very nice. The textured base makes me think it will be for Underworlds.
They said it will be part of an upcoming warband.

I love how anatomically ridiculous it is. This is the kind of squigy goodness we need.

That would make 8 battletomes in one year which is pretty unprecedented.
I wouldn't be surprised if they somehow sneak another release before the end of 2018.

Wonder if that points to Everchosen and Slaves to Darkness being combined (maybe into Darkoath?).
I can see that, it'd be a Warriors of Chaos style battletome and have various rules for each God, rules for playing Undivided, and Darkoath is a pretty nice name for the unified Chaos forces.
Of course, the biggest takeaway is the bigger implication of an Aelves and/or Free Cities battletome as well. And if we move further from that, every factions that got a focus is guaranteed to stay and probably get a battletome, like Gutbusters.

If we look back at the Faction Focus, Brayherds, Warherds, Thunderscorn, and Monsters are all included. That's a decently sized faction, and really helps consolidate subfactions left over.

Out of curiosity, does anyone else think the troggoth model represents that the Moonclan faction may not be just Grots, but an array of Destruction races all with the Moonclan keyword?

I saw someone somewhere mention how the head resembles the existing Warherd models.
I feel that it is generic enough to where it could easily be Beastmen or Darkoath.

Found an interesting leak in the depths of a Reddit comment section; again, nothing too groundbreaking, but it was a black and white picture of daemon Fulgrim fighting Logar/Pertubo (can't tell the difference). I'm hoping it's a sign of things to come in AoS, and I hope they keep the aesthetic they used for Fulgrim - he looks great.
(I would post the picture, but it's against site policy to share leaks)
What subreddit?

Neither my artillery nor iron daemon came with bases. If I ever get bases I am planning to get the smallest oval base they look good on.
I have two 120x92 bases(I believe that's the size at least), and that size works reasonably well for artillery. Magma Cannon fits well, but the Deathshrieker is a bit small on it.

Use what they ship with.
Dreadquake: 170mm
Skullcracker: 170mm
Iron Daemon: 120mm
Magma: 105mm
Deathshrieker: 90mm
My Deathshrieker and Magma didn't ship with bases.

Not sure why they'd even showcase models for a single codex that is being released in November. It logically would be something Age of Sigmar related, unless there happen to be new units for Codex Orks we haven't heard of.
