I think you have to attack if you are in melee. With cloak you just can't be hit before you have activated in melee, but you have too if everything else in your armee fought

That was my quick conclusion as well.   Just digging through books figuring how to survive a zombie dragon w/lord, striking first & attacking twice.

  2. Doppleganger cloak on a GUO:  could you choose not to attack in melee and not be attacked in return?  Im thinking it would be a clever way to get favored poxes off on a particularly nasty foe.

    Nevermind, doesnt work.

  3. Affliction cyst and great unclean one held their own against two bloodthirsters this week.  At the bottom of 3, I was only one Victory Point behind.

The bigger bloodthirster went down quickly when his axe arm was incapacitated by Gutrot.  The smaller bloodthirster devoured the previously assumed inedible GUO.

Wherever the flies showed up, things died.  Wherever they were missing, i took casualties.  The harbinger of decay was notably hard to kill, taking exactly 7 wounds after being pummeled with 60+ attacks and 13+ mortal wounds.

Turn 4 would have turned sour , because it's entirely too easy for them to summon another bloodthirster.   I was running out of tricks.

In all, I made big mistakes costing me the game, but the affiction cyst allowed me to control the battlefield.  Will get better!

Im very dissapointed last year no point drops wasnt an issue, but in the current year with fec, skaven, fyreslayers, etc. Nurgle is getting stale (haha). Whats the point of that battalion? Deepstrike? Move fast? Is absurda I wont take it even at 100. Pusgoyles still overpriced (160 shall be more clase to their true cost).

The good thing to me is I wont buy anything for nurgle: I Hope of buying 2 more GUOs, maggotlords, beasts and more plaguebearers ... But not this year.

Now, now, 100 points is "free." I think of it as buying a command and an item.

For 100 more points, 4 units (which cost 80 more before the change) take up one setup slot.  Going first is critical.   Thats not bad for a 20 point investment.

If this is all the Maggotkin changes then its clear to me that they have been motivated by one thing only; sell stock. No one runs Pusgoyles, no one uses that battalion, so I imagine there is shelf upon shelf of these kits gathering dust somewhere. Hate to take the cynical approach but this GHB does nothing for Nurgle in the competitive meta at all.

I find the models competitive enough, and just got 100 point back!

Maybe Im a little pessimistic but in my local meta, nurgle is a joke.

i havent played a lot, but in my meta, Nurgle has been a beast.

I play LoA with blightlord battalions, GUO, Glot.   Not a lot of horde lists, or id be toast.

With that post started my nightmare if repainting my 40 plagueBearers and plague drones xD

Lol, ouch.    Only Maggotkin action Ive seen lately is buying a random used Blightlord with bell to round out my Affliction Cyst.  Low on the painting queue.

From the wording on the warscroll, I thought that you could use the other spellportal as the origin and draw the line starting from there

Forget the warscroll,  the spellportal has a FAQ on this exact  question.    Assuming it hasn't changed, you measure the end of the line from the portal,  but the beginning of the line is still the GUO base.   A huge 30+" line!

I think we all agree that the concept of "point of origin" would answer this question differently.   It's going to need an errata to get there.  Right now, the caster's base is the GUO's base.

Gents!  Take a look at the very last question of the Malign Sorcery FAQ.  It's official!  Thrice Befoulment can shoot plague winds dealing 3D3 mortals  in excess of 30".

Im struggling my brains to find an alternative to the harbinger of decay, Ive seen a reikenor (nighthaunt milounted character.that look well).

Any suggestions of a mounted character that could easily converted?

It's way down my list,  but eventually my final Pusgoyle fly will have its wings shredded,  abdomen cracked,  and pull itself along with its front legs.

If you are playing with a mortal or rotbringer General..there isn’t much you can take that’s useful besides grandfathers blessing. I think virulent blade (add -1 rend to generals melee attacks) and hideous visage are probably two of the best. Pesilent breathe on a harbinger isn’t bad. Still not sure if it’s better then grandfathers blessing.

I played a game against sylvaneth dreadwood recently. Wheel started at the worst spot possible IMO (stage 3). When it was my turn 2 and it ticked go 4, I used he blessing to move it to 5. Getting that debuff really helped.

I play Virulent Blade with Rustfang on Lord of Afflictions.  Those -3 and -4 saves carve up the big stuff pretty good.

Speaking of the Glott brothers. I started work on a conversion for them! To match the rest of my army, Im having a giant tree growing out his hump. Im positioning it right where ethrac stands, so I have to find a new place for Ethrac. Otto is just fine where he is, although I may alter his pose. Here are some pictures of me working on the concept. Im not super excited about either of these three options. On the base seems boring. On his tentacle a little ...over the top/not realistic? Although I love the idea of Ghurkk protecting his wizard bro with his big tentacle :P. Third option him stepping on ghurkks head makes that side of the model WAYYY to busy.

Something else I thought of this morning is having another tree brach poke out through the "shoulder" area with the tenacle and position etrac standing on that as if a platform. Probably have to remove a couple of the small horns but im ok with that! Nervous about working on a conversion thats fully painted! Here goes nothing. Want to make glottkin the centerpiece of my nurgle army for NOVA. He single handedly got me runner up best painted last year at NOVA, so want to do him justice and go big on the conversion!

The only other thing I can recommend is possibly incorporating the gnarlmaw somehow, like making that right leg more of a tree stump (with the gaping gnarlmaw mouth) and adding the tubes.  It's a great idea.

No sorry 40k player here. I mean leader selections. Like how you can’t have your required battleline choices come from your allies. Not sure if that applies to required leader choices as well. If it does, the plaguetouched warband can never have everchosen allegiance (only Archaon is nurgle marked and you would need two)

As I understand it from AoS rules,  leader is a distinction in the pitched battle profile, and per the FAQ everything in the PTWB is Everchosen.   I see no reason why slaves with Nurgle marks aren't valid battleline and the heroes certainly use up allowed hero/leader limits.

Grungola is correct. Only GA: Chaos for PTWB. Everchosen I don’t think works because the Varanguard are marked in the hero phase, not upon setup. Even if they count, that’d be over 2k for varanguard and everchosen heroes, pretty much no matter how you slice it. Even if you can include allied heroes as the required HQ selections (which I don’t think you can)

That's interesting.  I'm not familiar with the idea of "hq selections."  is this something in the Everchosen tome?

  15. 1 hour ago, Kurrilino said:

They already fixed that problem long time ago.

The FAQ said if all models from a battalion fulfill "X" the battalion becomes "X".

In this case it would get the "Nurgle" Keyword.

If we follow the rules from Pg.240 it's even more clear.

It shows that the only thing that matters is the "Organisation" field which says 1 Nurgle Hero, 7 Nurgle units.

Wherever you find the warscroll is not relevant.

So it's absolutely fine to play the plaquetouched in pitched battles.

Check the latest FAQ.   There should be no more ambiguity.   PTWB models are allies everywhere but Everchosen and GA:C.  It does not matter that the PTWB units are Nurgle,  they are still allies.
