  1. The Tales of Sigmar Podcast is back as Martin talks about his experience at the 2019 Age of Sigmar Northern Masters in Scotland last weekend. He had some Eels being backed up by Gotrek but could he pull off the upset and become the Northern Master? We also chat about our recent hobby progress, answer your questions as well as revealing a plan for 2020 involving YouTube!

We'll be back with one more episode before the end of the year covering the year in review and plans going forwards for 2020.

Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Hey all, i've had the battleforce that came out a couple years ago for a while now and I'm only now deciding to actually make the army. Just had a question regarding the rules since it's a pre 2.0 tome, do i need the tome and the generals handbook or am i better off waiting for a new/updated tome?

    Cheers.

The General's Handbook doesn't have anything for the Tzeentch allegiance in, although if you're wanting to play Matched Play you'll need it for the points and missions etc.

At the moment you'll need the Battletome and then the FAQ. Quite a few of the units/spells/artefacts etc in the book have been changed and updated in the FAQ along with the explanation on how Fate Points are generated and what the summoning rules and costs are. Hopefully that helps :)

  3. Cheers guys this is valuable feedback for sure!

We’re going to record this weekend a test report to get an idea of length to record, best practices for shooting, camera/audio quality, how long to edit and publish etc.

As we starting off we’re limited in equipment, got two bright led video lights, a tripod for an iPhone XR to record video as well as some mics for audio. As long as the first couple of test records go ok (we might even release them on YouTube as a tester to get an idea of feedback etc) then we’ll invest in better cameras etc.

Could find after the first couple of test records it’s just not for us but until you try you’ll never know right?!?

  4. So in the New Year I'm looking at launching a AoS YouTube channel focussing on AoS and Warcry battle reports, both competitive and narrative.

The question to the wider community, what would you want to see on a proper dedicated AoS YouTube channel?

  5. The Tales of Sigmar is back for another episode this time covering the Warlords Assembled Age of Sigmar event from last weekend. This was Martin's first event as a TO while Chalmers took his new Seraphon and Gotrek list.

We also cover the Northern Rankings and the Northern Masters pack and chat about the return to the Old World and the potential return to square bases. More questions from the listeners are also answered including looking at under the radar armies that could upset stronger lists as well as dissecting how to not be rubbish at matched-play AoS.

Icebone general has to take Pure-bred War Boar from the Icebone warclan abilities

Nope, that's only if you have a Maniak Weirdnob as the general. As it doesn't say Icebone has to have a Maniak Weirdnob as the general, any other general can take whatever command trait they want.

One little question: Can Itake a Loonboss on Manglersquig as a part of the Squigrider Stampede or can I put a simple manglersquig in there?

It's got to be a normal Mangler squig if you take it unfortunately as it's the unit name not keyword. If it said MANGLER SQUIG in bold and capitals then you'd be able to take either choice. But because it's lowercase and non-bold it's the unit name.

@TalesOfSigmarSo would you say that MMMWP is generally worth, or only in certain situations?

Only in certain situations, with Jezzails you're rerolling to hit if you don't move anyway. If you really need to move the extra 6" then it's probably worth using MMMWP because otherwise you're only hitting on a 4. and you need Jezzails to hit as hard as possible.

  17. 37 minutes ago, gronnelg said:

Those of you who now take jezzails over WLC - do you still feel the need to take a Skryre hero along to buff them, and if so what spells/abilities do you favor to buff the jezzails?

Yup, like Skreech says, using the Warpstone token to make them +1 damage is vital to make them really killy. The More-More-More-Warp-Power spell from the Skryre Lore is also great to get those re-rolls to hit and wound if you need to move them. But just remember the D3 MW at the end of the next Hero Phase which could get rid of one stand of Jezzails.

Sorry for all the questions, but you would never consinder doing something like this? dropping the Jezzails down to 6 instead of 9 and still keep 40 Rats and the Aethervoid?

    Allegiance: Skaventide

Grey Seer on Screaming Bell (200)

Plague Priest on Plague Furnace (180)

    Verminlord Warpseer (260)

    Arch Warlock (160)

    Battleline:

    40 Clan Rats (200) - Spears

    40 Clan Rats (200) - Spears

    20 Clan Rats (120) - Spears

    Units:

40 Plague Monks (240) - One Foetid Blade and one Woe Staff

    6 Warplock Jezzails

    Endless Spells:

    Warp Lightning Vortex (100)

    Aethervoid Pendulum (40)

    Total: 1980 Points

You could do, I'd worry about losing that ranged damage though, you'll potentially drop 9 damage a turn (if buffed by Warpstone) at a 36" range which to me is too valuable for sniping out heroes etc. The Pendulum did work in 2/5 games for me, guaranteed D6 MW is great but it's still only 14" range when setup (setup within 6 and move 8).   I think I'd rather keep the Jezzails that can hit longer and more frequent. Happy to be proved wrong though :)

  19. A tactic I used quite a bit in the games that I didn’t mention was combining Skitterleap with the Gnawhole.

Basically I would cast Skitterleap on the Grey Seer, redeploy on the table wholly within 6” of a Gnawhole halfway up the board, use a Warpstone token to cast Vortex on 3D6 picking the two highest and then in the movement use the tunnel to teleport back to safety in my deployment zone. Was great to get that range and then get back to safety without having to worry about being stuck in the middle of the battlefield unsupported.
