  1. Got to say that I was really let down by this announcement. Since kharadron we've had NOTHING to stand on. They're being overly secretive and that is genuinely hurting their brand. Like I can understand the logic behind not revealing their entire next year schedule sure (if people know what's coming, they'll ignore certain releases over some of the later ones) but I know that they already have some cool new army waiting for release, I know it takes them years to develop these armies and the next batch should be right around the corner, yet they can't reveal it now because... hype? Too long hype period kills the excitement and gw needs to keep its releases constant and flowing.

With that said, I am intrigued by the new logo. Mainly because it might mean that we're getting age of sigmar 2nd edition and I'm very excited by that. AoS is great game, but the over simplicity of some rules kinda hurts it (it also makes the game unappealing to some people, as they believe game is some silly joke, I know I used to think that when I saw them first time). 2nd edition would also likely mean that they would finally look at some of the outdated, poorly worded warscrolls and update them (it's quite frustrating how so many recent rule changes are only in some lousy faq instead on the warscrolls in the app).

  2. Well I'd still count SCE release as proper new army release since it had at least 4 brand new kits but yeah, it isn't looking too good. Still hoping that gw is merely witholding nurgle release info and they'll come before end of the year (Nurglmas?).

What kinda annoys me though is that gw hasn't even made these faction re-releases with new battletome (like bcr, bonesplitterz, etc.) this year. Sure, that ghb17 helped to flesh out many factions but getting proper battletomes would still be nice. Not to mention complete lack of campaign books.

  3. It's not new normal allegiance. It's firestorm chaos town allegiance that doesn't include any skaven, brayherd, slaanesh, maybe nurgle (can't remember) and number of smaller whatever factions. The ability is something like reroll charges and +2 bravery to all units near heroes.

And no, skaven, brayherd etc. Don't get any compensation or town allegiance of their own. So even more the reason why I dislike the very idea of firestorm stuff making it into matched play. It should be narrative only (obviously nothing stops people from using points etc. in narrative play).

Well actually GW is on the way to give those factions abilities which didnt receive one in the Generals Handbook II. You are right about the Stormcast though. They are already super strong and shouldnt have every unit of order as allies and really get everything. So what, if they take the Anvilguard Allegiance they miss all the cool stuff from their battletome. Time will tell, but I am sure GW thought well about this release.

Actually gw already confirmed that these new allegiances allow you to take them on top of faction specific allegiances. So yes, you can take any artifacts, prayers etc. From SCE tome plus that 3+ deep strike and then take one of these bonus allegiances (just search for that hammerhal showcase they made couple days ago, they say it there). That's the main reason I'm complaining about this. If this was just bonus on mixed allegiances, well I'd still dislike the whole system, but would probably just be real meh about it.

Now it could be that the community team is just talking out of their ****** and everything I say here is proven wrong, but I still think it's seriously bad if people start actively taking these "town allegiances" to tournament (and obviously if tournaments are ok with them), because it will likely cause split in community and in country where I live, last thing I want is more split 'cause finding any proper aos players here is difficult.

  5. The problem with this ability (and every other firestorm ability) is that even when it's unreliable, it's strong bonus ability with no clear drawback. This ability can be insane when combined with SCE units like prosecutors, who'll jump behind the enemy units. Then you just survive to next turn (easy with stormcasts) and get 1 lucky roll and whoops there goes your expensive unit. Not to mention the whole "force enemies out of objectives"-bs.

I've said this in multiple threads but I'll say it here again. There are 2 reasons why I dislike firestorm abilities and believe they'll ruin this game if they're accepted into regular tournament standard: First of all, they're unnecessary power boosts for armies that don't need any power boosts. People being all excited about ability that could aid their low tier mixed order force while stormcast player is rubbing their hands together with evil glint in their eyes. Secondly, not all armies get any bonus allegiances. I don't see any excited seraphom, ogor, skaven, brayherd, deathlords, nighthaunt (they get ability but it is very redundant with what they already have) and couple others discussing about their awesome new abilities 'cos guess what, they don't get any. If gw wants to add new abilities, fine, just add it to every faction there is, because the power of these abilities is strong enough to make certain armies completely disappear from tournaments.

  6. Aaaand there goes my hopes for firestorm... all I wanted was more fun allegiances, maybe some fun mixed forces but what do we get? Just more rules stacking. I mean what is that scourge privateers box supposed to be now? Order allegiance with scourge as main force and sce as allies and then some town bonus? I was genuinely gonna buy that set but now... meh just meh.

Sorry to be all negative but I think gw really dropped the ball here. I'm still reserving my final judgement of this release but honestly, what a way to drop my excitement to zero. On more positive note, I can focus on my current projects more.

  7. Really curious about those new allegiances in firestorm. They appear to be mix of multiple factions that don't share keywords (if those boxes and texts are any indication) really interested to see how that works (it could also explain the lack of high elf/moonclan/etc armies from ghb17). Also though I don't have high hopes for it, now if ever would be good time to boost those scourge privateers warscrolls a bit.

  8. I have fairly high hopes that nurgle will get its battletome before the end of the year. Reasons for this are the following:

    1. Blightwars (as far as I know) only gives nurgle's allegiance battle trait but not the command traits or artifacts. Considering that nurgle was already left out of ghb17 it would be stupid to leave nurgle hanging for what, 4-5 months?

    2. Nurgle already has very good model range. You add what 40k gives, throw in some new pestigor unit and new GUO model and there you go. It's easy battletome to make for this reason.

    3. Nurgle has had very large presence in aos story. The fact that they still haven't got their battletome is almost weird.

    4. C'mon 4-5 months without new proper new aos releases? Some people are already annoyed that there have been nothing after kharadron overlords. Shadespire is new game, it doesn't really count towards being aos release. And though I know that there was nothing after sylvaneth for long time either, Sylvaneth was super popular plus first ghb brought so many (back) in to the hobby, so people didn't care. While ghb17 will keep some people busy, we're not in the same situation as last year and GW needs to show some proper support for aos.

  9. My hope is that this new death faction will have multiple keywords that would allow playing some of its models across different death factions (like the wraith shown there would certainly fit night haunt) kinda like how stormfiends are both skyre and moulder.

  10. I doubt that gw is making any plastic vampires (at least not yet). My best guess would that they're rebasing them and giving them new box to make those blood knights more attractive. I will say though that I always found it weird that they made soulblight a faction when most of their stuff is old resin stuff.

  11. Slug mount eh? What's that going to have, move 3? That would kinda kill the whole idea of cavalry :P

Well nurgle was pretty much expected (you don't leave chaos god out of ghb without good reason after all), I wonder if Skaven pestilens can grab them as allies? Would love to get some new great unclean one as ally.

  12. Those sets really need to be at different price ranges (at least some of them) or else some armies are gonna get screwed over (unless they're all based on that 4 mages box in which case these would be some of the best sets ever, since that one should be by far cheapest). I'm mainly talking about nighthaunt, because buying those guys seperately costs about just as much as skirmish boxes would so if gw sells these at skirmish box costs, then nighthaunt gets like barely 5 euro discount.

Also interesting to point out: spiderfang box content would currently cost in points about 480, so something there is gonna get massive point discount (maybe finally seperate points for spiders without shamen).
