  1. I once took down Archaon with a buffed up Varghulf.  It has +3 attacks from Ferocious Hunger and because I cast a spell on it was rolling to hit.  That gave it

7 attacks hitting and wounding on 3s with two damage at -1 rend

    and

4 attacks hitting on 3s, wounding on twos with D3 damage at -2 rend.

You then pile in again for a CP.  Potentially can deal out 52 wounds from a 160 point model.  The mordants battalion gives a little movement bonus but you can do this in any list that also has an Archregent in it.

Exactly. Same for +1 to hit bonuses to reduce the exploding hits to 4+ and so on

This way spears have a reason to exist

The problem is that even if that was the case there are many more ways to get -1 to hit than +1.  Katakros and the Bone-Tithe shrieker are the only things I can think of for OBR.

  3. I've run a version of that list a few times. I only used one Boneshaper, which allowed me to swap the Endless spells for a Crawler.

The problem with the list is that the Deathglaive is super fast and can get into your opponent T1 but it's less effective if the opponent has screens.  The Crawler gives you a chance to clear the screen first.

  4. The empower nadarite weapons spell is the only other way to get extra attacks on Mortek or Deathriders.  You could also add the bone tithe shreiker for +1 to hit.

I ran a new Stalliarch Lords list last night against a Fangs of Sotek list with Kroak.  I killed 65 skinks in the first turn.  Which was fun.

  5. The only problem you might have with deepstriking reapers is that they have to come on 6" from a table edge and 9" from enemy units.  A clever opponent won't leave you space to bring on 30 models on 32mm bases.

I won two games yesterday running Manfredd in Grand Host of Nagash.  Seemed to work better.

    ?!? Why not ?!?

his CA states reroll 1s hit/wound for DEATH units within range...

legion of night would kinda be useless for bedsheets, but there is a 40 block of skellis in the List and outflanking reapers are kinda interesting

You can use the CA on them but Reapers already can reroll hits if the enemy unit has 5 or more models and Chainrasps already reroll ones to wound on their warscroll.  So they don't make as much use of the ability as other units.

    Hello,

    Can you critique this list

340 -Mannfred Mortarch of the night

    130-Necromancer

    120-Wight king with baleful blade

    280-Skeletons with spears x 40

    140-Direwolves x 10

    240-Chain rasp horde x 30

    240- Black Knights x 10

    300- Grimghast Reapers x 30

    50- Extra command point

    2000/2000

30 Grimghast cost 420 points however even with that your list is only 1960 so you could afford to upgrade the Chainrasps to 40.

Nighthaunt units have poor synergy with Mannfred though as they don't make much use of his command ability.  Get some grave guard instead

The Archregent is only once per game though and not very round! Yes he’s good but not absurd and by spending a CP on summon as the errata means he can’t free summon next to the throne the FEC player is costing themselves a feeding frenzy. Since the FEC point and rule changes the Archregent is a pretty balanced hero. Yes you can be reductive and say he’s 240 points but summons 200 however there’s a 50 point nominal value in the CP plus ghouls I would argue are over pointed On the whole specifically due to the army summoning.

It’s tough to tailor things as I would make the argument that a number of armies and game mechanics work very differently at 1k compared to 2k not just summoning.

The Archregent can summon for free next to the throne.  The Errata only applies to the 2nd sentence of the rule.  It's still not overpowered though since the points changes.

  9. The other thing to remember for a FEC army is the summoning.  The Zombie Dragon effectively comes with a free Varghulf which often comes in handy.  The Terrorgheist is better in combat because of it's Fanged Maw.

If you're planning to also play a Legions army then a Zombie Dragon is good to stick a Vampire on.

  10. Since a lot of the abilities require models to be wholly within 12" of a character I find the clear plastic ruler that came with the Soul Wars box invaluable.  A 9" is also helpful.

I also use a cheat sheet with the hero phase order on it and then counters/markers for everything.

With practice it comes together slowly although after three months I'm still making odd mistakes.

@Sutek Any major thoughts / take aways? What were your other match ups like and what list were you running?

I fought Slaves to Darkness, Two Legion's of Sacrament, a Murderhost and Nighthaunt.  I would have liked a bit more variety to be honest.  My list was

    Lady O

    Knight of shrouds on Horse

    Guardian of Souls

    Spirit Torment

    Dreadblade Harrow

    40 Chainrasps

    10 Bladegheists

9 Spirit Hosts in units of 3

    2 Chainghasts

    Mourngul

The Mourngul did well but I'm still going to have to drop it to make way for the 12 Mymourn Banshees I bought in the shop during the tournament.  The Bladegheists can give it out but can't take it so I always felt one decent sized unit short.

  12. I was the one that finished 65th but I was on table 8 in round three but lost 16-14 in Total Commitment and then 14-13 in Total Conquest.  My last game I was soundly beaten but that was to the Nighthaunt list that finished 33rd.  I wouldn't read too much into it.  Neither of us had played many games before the tournament.

Hey guys, anyone willing to provide feedback on this list? My big questions are what is the ideal size for the chainrasps, and could the 80 points for the extra 10 plus the points on the hosts be used more wisely on something else?
