  1. So I want to start sylvaneth from scratch and I want to be able to have flexibility in my lists instead of just building one list.

How many dryads do i do I need to buy

how many tree revenants do I need to buy

how many sets of 3 trees

Read what you posted there, I've got some CC for you.
The list looks really good, agree on most of the choices you made there, but  I would toss court artefact on crypt ghast to make him score in scenarios where it is relevant and I also don't see much use for Maelstrom since it will just be there, messing your own spells and getting in the way, I think to round up 20 points Shackles are your best bet. Now about the throne, I don't know how many people realised it already, but you can place it further from your "deployment" zone so you can make a move forward in your first turn and then use summoning  which is possible in quite a few match-ups and would help you a lot by providing bravery swing aura and cover for your regent, oh, and you also said that mounted kings can use summoning for free near the throne which I believe you know that they can't.

    About the write-up:
It feels too in-depth for a FEC player and not enough for someone who never seen them and that way it feels inconsistent, like sometimes you mention ability's and spell's ranges, sometimes you don't, you mentioned ghouls rerolling hit rolls but haven't said why and so on. If you intendent to make it a deep explainatory thing you should have wrote more numbers and less praising. If not, than it's fine.

Also there are some things I want to say about ghoul patrol: it's been 180 points and optional reserves since the drop of GHB 2018 and first FAQ in AOS 2, so it wasn't changed on that part with the new tome at all

Thanks for feedback! I thought I had gotten rid of mentions of mounted kings summoning, I’ll go back and edit.  And yes after my first game definitely putting throne forward lol

This is what's leading me to crypt horrors, rerolling all hits and wounds, in a unit of 9, as a hammer unit. Reliability is sorely thin on the ground for us, so this unit seems to stand out with the GK spell + their own warscroll abilities to re-roll.

yea I used to be a fan of a big horror unit. Now with the ability to give them fly, that's extra sweet. They definitely seem to have more synergies than flayers.  But man thats a lotta points. Especially when you can get a lotta ghouls for that, and fufil battleline without having to take a courtier as general AND, you get horrors and flayers for free basically if summoned

Really good to hear some practical experience. Ghouls definitely seem expensive, even at 40, considering what other armies get for 100 points less. But there some nice synergies to try out with bringing back models, buffing and getting them to have 5/6/7 attacks each.

for sure, there's way more synergies for them than with flayers and horrors imo, but tbh, with hitting on 4s and wounding on 4s, no rend, 1 damage, you are going to need all 240+ attacks to get through even a unit of 60 gits. any -1 to hit screws this army up big time. almost nothing in the army hits on better than 4s (except GK)

  5. Learnings from game 1

played against 120 clan rats, 2 warp cannons, 2 warpfire teams (who did like 40 MW lol) and FW lord thingy, grey seer in bell

    1) keeping your GKs beside the throne turn 1 to summon really sucks. Put it as far forward as possible. My archregent ended up basically one turn behind on movement to rest of my army.

    2) gristlegore is gross.

    3) spells are SUPER important to effectiveness of the army. Consider taking plus cast things or running corpse cart?

    4) CP super important as well. You should be making lists with max 1900 points. Probably worth running battallion just for CP, relic and low drops as long as tax isn’t high. With 4 CP to start brooch becomes almost mandatory. You are much less scary without CP

    5) ghouls are likely too expensive. 10 will not kill anything.  40 however will kill many things especially if fully buffed

  6. Listening to Richie and Ian today and they seem to rate Bens list highly involving chainguard battallion and one other (in bens it’s the shrieked but they note you could use the bladegheist one or whatever). That’s over 200 points in battallions.  Two extra relics, lower drops, and more CP for rerolling charges and +1 attacks. Anyone have experience?
