I really like the current Dragon Ogres.  Why do you say they have not aged well?  I cannot see anything poor about the sculpt.  They are Ogre/Dragon centaur guys and the sculpt seems pretty appropriate for that.  I get that aesthetics are personal and not everyone will like every concept, but I don't see what about them has not aged well.  There is nothing technically wrong with the sculpts that I can see.  They are not lacking detail for what they are and the proportions & anatomy does not seem wrong.  The GW plastic Minotaurs on the other hand have muscles that simply do not make any anatomical sense.  I would say that those have aged poorly - but to each their own.

See I love the minotaurs precisely because they're so over the top. If it's the muscles over the shins you think look weird, those do make sense, it's just because every muscle has been made so bulky they stand out more than they ever do on anything realistic. In fact I like the minotaurs so much i'm making dragon ogres out of them.

  2. Am I totally wrong in thinking that if they replace the marauder kit that would be the first plastic kit they're replaced since 6th edition? Although I suppose if they're spurned off to their own faction and not called marauders any more it could be argued they still hadn't.

Maybe Slaves to Darkness will be Squatted and Darkoath will replace them entirely.

Entirely depends on if they can fill out a full faction of Marauders in an interesting way I suppose. It's a bit like a Beastman army without the interesting bits like monsters and goat heads (or horse bottoms).

Store manager yesterday told me he sent back all of his marauder kits and had them marked as Obselete Stock.

Makes sense if Darkoath is taking over the marauder side. The question is will it be just the marauders or replacing Slaves to Darkness entirely. Chaos Warriors must be the oldest plastic kit now and look a bit weedy next to the Stormcast and Khorne Chaos Warriors.

  5. I do really like all those models but the base changes is really frustrating. Not because I think it makes a vast amount of difference in game but because it seems a lot of other people do. My fiends have been rebased onto 40mm round bases because that's what they're supposed to be using according to the base they come with and the suggested base size sheet, And yet, these new fiends are on larger new oval bases so I either need to cut them off again or hope the ovals are 40mm wide and try to get together some kind of base adapter.

Another idea for a really big announcement would be the return of Slaanesh.  He/She is fairly quiet in both games right now and a big Slaanesh release could be a  big thing for both main systems.  And we all know that they are probably making an effort to rework the aesthetics of the Slaanesh faction - so it might be a pretty huge shake-up from what we have gotten used to.

I don't think they'll be doing anything of the sort. I don't think GW has any issue with Slaanesh other than it being the least popular god and it's more projection from the player base. I mean just on the models alone how often do GW actually replace a plastic kit and you're talking about them scrapping them all and releasing what would be a 4th version of Daemonettes. The chariots are pretty recent and they got their own Start collecting set recently. I wouldn't expect any of the daemons to be touched other than a new KoS and Fiends and maybe some new heralds. The other new sets will most likely be the Slaanesh 'other' troops that would be their equivalent of Arcanites/Bloodborne.

So...Morathi is locked up with Slaanesh inside her, and they just never noticed the Morathi part? The hard truth is your speculation is one of the few things in setting that AREN'T possible.

lol whats with the attitude? It's not that complicated. Morathi comes back and is the perfect hiding place for Slaanesh since she's been his most devoted acolyte since she first popped up and is pretty much his avatar of corruption being responsible for inserting that wedge into the Elves in the first place. But why wouldn't Slaanesh, a god where one of his primary attributes is corrupting personal experience, want a more hands on role in that experience and playing those political games? So Morathi mysteriously is still around but somehow changed happily skips along with Malerion to join Sigmars grand alliance, the perfect place for him to work his own corruption right at the heart of the realm that has been locked off from his brothers. This is until Tzeentch decided to tip off Malarion and Tyrion at which point they threw a bag over her head and ran off wondering what to do with her.

You seem to have missed the whole point that she's the disguise, the hidden lair. They're supposed to notice her since she's been there all along. It's what was hidden inside her that they didn't know was there. It's probably not the case but it's totally possible.
