IKR?  Artificial constructs with souls jammed into them.  This one was a no-brainer.

I’ll have three painting goals for my deathcrons.

    1. Make the bone part unnatural in some way.  Something red-ish.
    2. Work some bone color back in (maybe with a tiny bit of dry brushing or edging).  Just enough to remind the observer these constructs are made of people bits.
    3. Paint up the armor like a storm cast to give Sigmar the proper middle-finger.  That soul stealing ******.

I think the problem with the percieved derpiness/goofyness of our new favourite bone construct bois stem from the official GW bone-coloured paintjob.  Bone colour = traditional skeletons in most people's minds, not grinning constructs with noses.

Therefore, if I jump the gun and buy them (which I am sure I will, who am I fooling?) they will be burned and charred terracotta, Aqshy-style. 🔥🔥🔥

I’m so confused that there is a legit, honest to goodness, highly credible rumor of a Tomb Kings-esque army IN THE NEXT THREE MONTHS.  And people aren’t freaking out.

    LIKE I AM.

Not getting on the hype train just yet, we're still in the "dealing-out-opinions-like-they-are-facts" stage. 😛

People, this thread is one of the most entertaining urls on the net because it is like asking a group of 4 year olds to guess who will win the eurovision song contest.

It's gold! Rejoice! But don't be too sad or it spoils the atmosphere

Agreed! This thread is a trainwreck of unmanaged expectations. It is quite entertaining, but I have given up on the rumours long ago. ;)

  4. Both the Ogor and Tithe reveals very clearly mention bones in specific ways. Cue the oriental theme, and it seems quite clear that those are linked.

Ogors vs Death? I am willing to bet on that. Feel sorry for the ogors trying to feed on dusty bones though. :)

Gaining new people to the hobby is a lot harder than keeping those you already have.  New armies will only get GW so far, in my opinion.

Hence the big push for specialist games like Warcry and Kill Team, which are much easier to get into.

With that said, I'm totally on board with GW releasing new factions, however, I don't want it to affect the support for the factions that they have already released.  I think new armies can bring in new players as well as breathe new life into the games evolving meta.

That's a pie-in-the-sky wish. If they keep on releasing brand new armies like they have been since the advent of AoS, there is a natural limit towards how much they can juggle around at once. And considering the amount of resources spent on the plethora of specialist games, it's a very different company compared to the GW of old.

Furthermore, if you invested a lot in an old army, GW already have your money. If they think they can earn more from cutting old armies that already have been profitable and lose a few oldtimers in favour of new, shiny armies that will attract a new generation of players, then the choice is easy.

    So MinimagTRAY, thats me.

I've approched this as a 'What do I really want to use' kind of project. The issues I see with current designs are this:

Rims, lack of flexibility, cost, not ready to use, usable for the entire game not just T1

    So from my site... www.minimagTRAY.co.uk

Fully magnetic trays: Made of high grade, precision cut steel the trays are fully magnetic to allow your magnetised troops a surface to really stick too.

No RIM! Finally, no rim around your troops. This allows your troops to get into base to base contact with the enemy. No more ‘counts as contact’ but correct placement of your troops in the combat phase without the need to remove your tray to do it.

Low profile. Steel means thin and strong. Profile less than 1mm means that they can easily stack on top of each if the situation calls for it.

Practically invisible when in use. We don’t really want to see the movement tray, it’s the models we want to see. Low profile, no rim and practically invisible when in use. This delivers this like no other design.

Ready to use. MiniMagTRAY are ready to use. No building, gluing or painting required to use. Just magnetised models and your ready to go. Don’t worry if you’ve never magnetised an army.

Magnetising models is sooooo easy. I've always done it for transport so it makes sense to use it on the table. I did a skaven army in one night. The whole lot.

I am going to expand the range to include some of the larger sizes but alos ways to really get the best use out these trays. Designed for fighting with rather than just deployment.

    Great to have you here!

Query: are the actual trays magnetic as well? I have glued non-magnetic washers underneath my models to cut costs and hence I need a fully magnetic material underneath.

I'm excited for the other games that GW comes up with, Warcry being one of them.  What I don't want to happen is for GW to lose sight on why we're all here; waiting for news on AoS. They keep combining other games in the AoS universe into their AoS "announcement slot".  Ideally, they had another time when they could release this type of news, so that AoS players who are focused just on larger AoS battles could have something to look forward to at these events.

We are seeing more and more spinoff and niche variants of both AoS and 40k, and they all have in common that they are far less time and money consuming than the base game.

I think the message is pretty clear: GW thinks that there is money to be had in games that are easier on your time and wallet, and they are testing the waters. And rightly so, because that is where the future lies while the Oldhammers are slowly dwindling away.

Most of us of fit and able bodies have the potential to paint to Golden Demon standard.

However the majority will not invest that much time and money and not all will have the right mentors/teachers/resources/knowhow to study to reach that level. And that's ok - many of us will reach a point we are happy with based on our investment in time and money and that's really all we need do. Sure we all have the potential to reach greater heights, but its not the target we all choose to rise too. For it takes many hours of practice to reach those heights and we all have different desires and interests.

Indeed - for someone like me with inferior eyesight, shaky hands and a miniscule amount of time to paint (and forecast looking even worse), "mediocre" is the best I could ever hope for. Thus, for me these paints seem great if they work as advertised.

AoS is a totally different kettle of fish and I can't see GW retiring AoS armies now. Sure some old sculpts will get retired and liekly replaced; but GW aren't going to remove skaven from AoS, nor Khorne, nor orks etc.... We have lost armies, but lets also not forget most of the big losses were in teh early days when AoS was basically a marketed as a boutique line of models. GW was making their own "reaper" style line only one that would allow them to axe many smaller armies now and then and just keep adding smaller new ones all the time. That's why they liked the Grand Alliance approach because in their marketing it meant the game had 4 armies. AoS today is utterly utterly different in concept and structure.

Retiring entire armies in AoS won't happen "now", but if a certain army does poorly in the long run I am fairly sure it will be consolidated into another army with a few units surviving here and there (similar to how Arkhan became a mortarch in the Legions of Nagash, and the Spiderfang Grots got rolled into Gloomspite Gitz). It's just good business practice.

That sounds like a massive problem.  How can GW expect people to care about the armies and the world of AoS if they're willing to just kill things off?  I'll never understand why this is accepted in Warhammer Fantasy/AoS but 40k doesn't have this problem, at least recently.

Probably due to 40k having been profitable enough to keep stuff around (even though Dark Eldar was not updated with a new codex for about 12 years!) whereas WHFB wasn't, mostly because of army bloat and the inability to keep all the stuff updated. If an army or whatnot is not recognized as profitable in the long run, it gets axed when the resources are better spent elsewhere. Hence the introduction of AoS.

Definitely don't understand the random focus you guys have on the squig's foot here.  It's supposed to be airborne, jumping over a mushroom, and his foot grazed the top of a mushroom as he is jumping. This doubles as a support to be airborne.  How is that strange to anyone???

That is one of the unwritten laws of the Internet these days: if there is a point to be argued about, no matter how miniscule, people will argue about it. 😜

Equally, if you're buying it just for the character models it's going to be pretty expensive - you'd be better off waiting and picking up the models when they come out on their own (or heading off to eBay or a Bitz company)

I think it is the "wait" part that is the pain spot here. For some, waiting is hard. 😅
