Anyone who plays with 3rd party models use Hordes Trolls? A certain site is having a massive Warmahordes sale and I've always liked the look of their trolls. Maybe wanted to use Mulg as a count as Mollog. Are they about the same size? I know Mulg is fairly chunky but not too tall.
I'm doing something similar with the Trollbloods Mountain King for a Troggoth Hag. I might stick a shaman on his shoulder, an idea mentioned a few pages back. I dislike the FW model and love the Mountain King, who is on a 120mm base whereas hers is 120x92mm so close enough.
Speaking of, what are people's thoughts/experiences with the Hag? I question whether she's worth the points vs. ~6 rockguts + 1 shaman for 400. I do love big models though. Below is a compilation of her full HP profile & degraded profile vs. 6 rockguts (because I like them more than fellwaters). All against save of 4 rerolling 1s:
Happy hag:
Sad hag:
Two units of 3 Rockguts:
Their profile includes the boulder throw (2x 50% chance for d3). Seems like their lack of degradation plus higher damage, along with a shaman for magic, might make it an even trade.

I would take Gutrot. I think the deepstrike, even with 5 PBKs, is more substantial for a slow Blightking list than an occasional heal and per-unit rend.

What do people think of Plague Squall versus the other two options? I love the flavor but not rolling any 6s is so painful.

To follow up on my post above regarding 1500-pt lists of daemons or mortals, I decided to take daemons and got thoroughly blown out by turn 2. He reversed tides, changed Ebb Tide to Flow and deleted two units of blightkings right off the bat. I'm still not sure how to counter 15 eels flying in like that with ~26" range. Wasn't much fun for my 4th game ever.

Hi all, I could really use some input on an upcoming 1500 pt game vs. Idoneth Deepkin using the Total Commitment (i.e. no deep strike) scenario. I'm relatively new to the gaming side of the hobby and am considering the following lists:
QuoteMortal Realm: Ghyran
Leaders
Great Unclean One (340)
- General
- Bile Blade & Doomsday Bell
- Trait: Grandfather's Blessing
- Artefact: The Endless Gift
- Lore of Virulence: Glorious Afflictions
Daemon Prince of Nurgle (160)
Festus The Leechlord (140)
- Lore of Malignance: Blades of Putrefaction
Battleline
30 x Plaguebearers (320)
5 x Putrid Blightkings (160)
5 x Putrid Blightkings (160)
Units
3 x Plague Drones (200)
Endless Spells
Soulsnare Shackles (20)
Total: 1500 / 2000
Allies: 0 / 400
Wounds: 115and mortals:
QuoteMortal Realm: Ghyran
Leaders
Harbinger of Decay (160)
- General
- Trait: Grandfather's Blessing
- Artefact: The Witherstave
The Glottkin (420)
- Lore of Malignance: Blades of Putrefaction
Festus The Leechlord (140)
- Lore of Foulness: Magnificent Buboes
Battleline
5 x Putrid Blightkings (160)
5 x Putrid Blightkings (160)
40 x Chaos Marauders (200)
- Axes & Shields
5 x Chaos Warriors (90)
- Hand Weapon & Shield
Units
5 x Chaos Knights (160)
- Chaos Glaives
Total: 1490 / 2000
Allies: 0 / 400
Wounds: 136
The league is somewhat casual so I would really appreciate input on how to decide between lists. For example, I know that Deepkin are fast and killy but I don't know what to do with that info. How to pick a list, plan deployment, etc. I was planning on the second list but I thought that the daemon focus of the first list will help because of their ward save. Is that a smart approach?
Thanks in advance.

@Malakree I appreciate your mathammering, if only for the daily reminder that trollherd still only allows a single dang Troggboss! (I finally gave up on my Excel attempts to expand binomial distributions to handle D3/D6 factors and went with druchii.net. Grumble.)
On a more serious note, I'm vacillating on including Skragrott with my Troggoths. (Skraggoths!) Having him alongside a Hag might be too unwieldy, but I don't want to miss the psychological impact of his shooting attack and spell.
