Yes. You don't need to play with ships and still be "competitive". Arkanaut blobs with some khemists hit like a truck, Endrinriggers with 2/3 grapnels can move really far and still charge (and with brokk, they can run+charge too), Skywardens have some tricks and thunderers are still awesome.
Imho, Khemists are still mandatory and Barak-Urbaz is one of the best Baraks forgunlines.

Just remember to take care from cover/ LoS blocking terrain and Prismatic Pallisade and use some type of chaff for turn1charge/alpha strike armies.

Sounds like the type of army Im going for. Thanks for the reply

  2. Hey everyone

Just skimmed through the last couple of pages to see what the current "meta" is like. I have just one question for you all: Is a no-ship list still viable? I know they are a huge part of KOs appeal, but I really love the little guys, flying or not.

From listening to the Stormcasts and reading between the line, I don't think Warcry will be the Nu-Mordheim I was hoping for but instead something completely fresh and new (both rules-wise and lore-wise)

Well Im firmly in the "New can be good or bad" camp! I think my perception of Mordheim is heavily influenced by nostalgia. A few years ago I was considering starting a new campaign and the amout of homebrewing needed to balance the warbands was staggering!

What I think Mordheim did really well and what one can hope for Warcry is setting. Mordheim is still to this day my favorite setting. The small stories from the rulebook and magazines did an increadible job of pulling you in. Its a feeling the newer stuff hasnt given me yet.

  4. Im dying for news on Warcry, but I guess that's a compliment to GWs hype machine. I was never completely sold on Skirmish poor balance and I cant get my group to play Shadespire.

But Im happy on behalf of the 40K Chaos players. I can remember putting those basic Chaos marines together back in my early teen years, so that kit must be old by now!

Anybody knows why GW doesn't give support for skirmish o makes a nice skirmish system like kill team for 40k?? I like AoS big battles but I like a lot small battles with tons of scenography but I was going to make a tzeentch band with my silver tower minis and I see tzangorns enlightened and skyfires points are the same and they cost 100 and 200 on Sigmar units... I would like official things and support :(

There have been vague rumors that if Killteam did well then AoS would get the same treatment. Now Killteam HAS been a big succes, so there is hope. From a buisness point for view it makes sense to have a gateway-drug for AoS, so I dont find this rumor unlikely. I would love to see an update since the balance is so poor in Skirmsh

Wow!  There are some gorgeous models here.  I've only completed the Orks and Reavers but I'll make my own contribution.

PS:  I love the ghostly Guard some of you have posted and I think I'ma try to paint mine similarly.  Look amazing and I'm told its fairly easy and quick!

The Ghostly Guard theme IS very easy :)

    Prime white

    2* Nihilakh Oxide

    Coelia Greenshade

Dry brush (pretty heavily) with white

    And there you go!

  7. Played my frist match with orcs today. Man are they though to kill! The expression on my opponents face when he realised i had 17 wounds on four guys. Damage wise I feel they are hit and miss. Ironskull and Bonekutter (inspired) are extremely deadly and will realibly kill anything they can get their hands on. Hacka and Smasha on the other hand... What are they there for? ONE damage and even when they get inspired it feels like too little to late. My opponent read them easily and just didnt attack them leaving almost useless. The objective cards are gold though. Manage to score 8 glory in round threes end phase all be charging into my opponents board and keeping him out (not too hard I feel especialy for 8 glory).

All in all I love them. I always like "reliable" lists and the Orcs fits the bill.

  8. I agree with a lot of Killax thouhts. Two guys with reach and a "tank" judging from the models. Im also a bit surprised that they match Bloodreavers one to one. Doesnt really seem like that in the background and the models themselves. But by that logic they must be less "writling down the opponent" and more punchy like Seak. Since they are skaven they have to be fast which means objective grabbing seems a likely strategy.

Will be interesting to see if they have a "mechanic" like the Guard or they are just a strait forward team.

I think the models are awesome but like gold with Stormcast Id refuse to paint them yellow. Keep something darker in mind:

Looks great! I was considering grey with red as spot colour but Im worried the grey wont work so well with the metal of the chainmail and weapons.

  10. I odly torn when it comes to this warband. I really like them from a tactics point-of-view. They are the Jack of All Trades of the warbands able to go both offensive and defensive and even play a bit of the objective game, all of which I really like. On the other hand... I dislike orcs. Both the look of the models and the background.

Im considering asking my usual opponent if I can proxy. Then again maybe the models will grow on me as I paint them.
