So, I've been thinking about the new CoS ogor

I feel this mini alone basically confirms (at least to some degree) that Cities will stay a multi-race army. Even if we only have Dispossessed and some aelves staying apart from this, I don't see us getting a "100% human" faction identity even in the long term. Heck, after this new mini I wouldn't even be surprised to see a duardin or two among the new blackpowder kits, or an aelf in the Freeguild Guard kit!

I think it would be awesome to have Aelf and Duardin officers (command models) in CoS units leading a bunch of humans. Aelf officers in charge of ranged units and cavalry, Duardin officers in charge of artillery and infantry.

  2. Man, I love that new ogre! I think some people on here are forgetting that ogres are WAAAAY  stronger than even the strongest humans. So carrying that crows nest with a human in it wouldn't even phase an ogre. This is all just my opinion of course.

If they follow the Soulblight model, they will keep Ironguts unupdated because they are just about the best current sculpt, transforming them into the new worst sculpt.

    Where Graveguard, GW?

Sons of Velmorn, would make excellent graveguard, I think.

They look like Chaos knights to me. Actually nevermind, those are definitely NOT chaos knights!

Well the issue isn't that the superheroes looked like athletes. The issue is that female superheroes do not.

I don't know about that, all the female superheroes i've seen are very athletic looking.

This is why I only play factions I enjoy from a model/background perspective. I'll try my best to win with the stuff I like.

I first started playing in tournaments in 6th edition with Dark Elves. They were really bad. I tried everything, amassed a huge Dark Elf army in the process. I was usually towards the bottom of tournaments and my friends constantly beat me. However, I was becoming a very good general. I was learning the game on hard mode.... and then the 7th and 8th edition Dark Elf books happened and I was rewarded for my dedication.

GW is too expensive for me to buy an army based on the rules. Rules change, but minis are forever. If you like Slaanesh that much, and think their sculpts are gorgeous (I agree!), then I think you should absolutely start them. Play them on hard mode now and enjoy the pain. You know Slaanesh wants you to.

Whenever the rules change, you'll dunk on everyone and you can brag about how you played them before they were cool... like I've been doing for 20ish years with Dark Elves 😆

I can absolutely relate to this. I also started playing Warhammer with 6th edition Dark Elves. I literally lost every game the first year I played. (2-3 games a week every week) Then, when 7th Edition came. I was destroying those same opponents more often than not.

  7. No idea if anyone had mentioned something like what i'm about to say. What I would love to see for the next edition is every army getting specialized units that excel in a particular phase of a turn. Meaning, every army has a unit that can shoot really well, another that can disrupt shooting really well, another that can magic really well, disrupt magic really well, etc... think of it like the ultimate rock, paper, scissors game. So every army CAN specialize in say.... shooting or close combat or magic, but, they could be hard countered. This way, I feel, players are more likely to diversify their lists. It would also make every unit viable depending on what your game plan is.

Aelves are basically the space marines of fantasy. Storm cast failed to be as popular as elves. So they do a big campaign of elf setup.
I mean essentially they have 5 elf armies to setup into the story.
    Sylvaneth

    Daughters

    Lumineth

    Idoneth

    Malerion shadow elves.

So the big army release we know is coming aligns with this because Slaanesh who is the ultimate elf villain is getting a major model release and update in the next few months potentially. Surrounding this Aelf campaign.

We already had Morathi, Alarielle and Idoneth in the book 1 of the campaign. But Idoneth and Alarielle were not resolved at all. The hint on the warhammer article basically tells us to expect a lot more Alarielle and Teclis. So it is logical to conclude more Aelf love to come.

    Sylvaneth are not Aelves though.

    Sieges are LOADS of fun.

Sure they aren't realistic, but heck nor are the fights we have. The problem is that they don't tend to work best with 28-35mm models. By the time you've put down a wall you've only got one segment of it and perhaps one or two towers; so you're more sieging a wall than a fort (unless you've a huge table). Plus regular siege equipment again can feel very big on the table. It would be an ideal set of rules for a fun "Apoc" sized system for AoS with nuts numbers of models on either side; but for a 2K game it can feel a bit forced. Fun but a bit forced.

Personally I think for wargaming if you want a siege then 3mm to 15mm are better scales. You can actually get a good fort down in building with those scales on a decent table; you can put more units down and the visual rank and file design of most of those game systems works great for creating the feel of an epic siege. You can have several catapults; trebuchets; battering rams; ladders; siege towers all on the table and it doesn't overwhelm it in the same way it would on a regular table with AoS scales.

Heck I'm very very very slowly building a Battle Valor army and would love to do that kind of games with that system.

I remember a siege during a mighty empires campaign that was awesome!

I played Dark Elves attacking a Nurgle Daemon fortress. Long story short, I had 10 x 10 warriors each with an assassin hidden (Manbane, throwing stars)

Turn one, I revealed all assassins then used them to clear the battlements before climbing the walls.

It is confirmed to be from Underworlds.

People assume it is elf because of the helmet with gems. Looks very high elvish/Wanderer

Watch the lion be part of a beast-tamer warband with one human leading a bunch of different beasties.
