It really depends on how said unit will fit in your force.  Reapers for an all around workhorse with low maintenance.  Revenants if you’re wanting to get fancy with your tactics.

Listing the force would be helpful

Still do not know what i will bring, but i have:

60 chainrasp (my friend can give me some more for that day)

    48 reaper

    20 revenants

    20 stalkers

    12 spirit host

    12 myrmourn banshe

    2 chainghast

Then i got almost every hero, some of them more then 1 (spirit torment x3 and guardian of soul x2)

Funny enough, I also have a tournament on Saturday; not in Texas, I presume?

Either way, I decided to go with both; 20 Grimghast for some front line brawling and horde decimation, and 20 Revenants for some sneaky tactics and back lines sundering. They do pretty different things, although I would recommend packing something capable of battering down larger targets.

For that, I am having troubles with choices; Which is better? Lady Olynder, or 8 Myrmourn Banshees with a Vampire Lord for the plus +1 attack? I am already running Reiknor and a GoS, and a big blog of spirit hosts, but I am trying to find a good heavy hitter.

Nope, i'm in italy, i'm sorry. Anyway i love lady olinder and i find her magic pretty cool, but i never saw the banshee in action (i just bought all my army to one of my friends that was selling it and i played it like one time)

  2. I have to admit, i hope they will change the wood system.  Sylvaneth are my firat and real love in this game, but in the last time i stopped using them and start playng just my other army becouse i don't like anymore the "wood strategy". I mean, it's strong and all but it start to be too much tricky to play around it as  amain strategy. To a tournament i went the tables were almost full and i do not have the space to drop more then 2 woods. And then that rules of the trees in the wood... Just making too tricky... I hope they will make it a "2.0 terrain" like for the newest army.

Also, making tree revenants and spite revenants usefull would be good, for now they are like "i take them if i need them for battalion" and stop

  3. Hi guys, sorry for the question but how do you bring the miniature around? I have a tournament in 2 week and i willbring nighthaunt, but i do not know how to move them without them to be damaged. On internet i did not find nothing that seems safe enough, apart from feldherr but those are really expensive and i'm not sure that those are enough safe for nighhaunt.

Did you follow a guide or is it straightforward and obvious? I'm doing mine tomorrow

Just being suggested from a friend but really is not that hard. Just the one with doomflayer gauntlet or shock gaintlet it's a bit hard becouse of how the arms are made, for them i had too use green stuff (cut away the little plastic part in the arm and fill it with green stuff)

What was your list and what did you equip those stormfiends with? I still have 6 on sprues. Still trying to figur out what role they should have. Go melee or ranged focused.

The best option is magnetize them, it seems hard to do but it's not. I just did it with 6 of them

  6. So even if i would have killed everything he had on the fields i would not have taken the point of battalion and endless spell? I don't mean the battalion rules for counting them, it's like in a tournament, when 2 people won everygame you count kill points to see who take the first place. I think i should check the tournament rules

No worries, in that case you only get kill points per the scenario rules. Usually that's  done by completely destroying units and adding up the points value or by destroying more wounds worth (so per model) than your opponent. It should say in the scenario rules what the conditions are in the event of a tie.. unless the scenario is just about killing, of course.

Endless spells do not count towards this.

Nono, i won the game, but it was for a campaign  and kill point are always important. My enemy was a seraphon (and summoned a lot) but he also have a battalion and i killed every unit of it, the only thing remaining to him from the original list was a slann and the cogs. We were talking about the points of the battalion (a shadowstrike), as i said i taked everything from it (2x40 skink, star priest and ripperdactyl), so i think i should also count the 180 pointa of the battalion are taken.

Well, I have a few options I plan to try the next game so we'll see what works. I think I may be looking to grab an HPA and 40 Monks to test out together as well. Having such a large distraction that can smash right in seems a worthwhile investment.

Not 100% on what you are asking but I will try to answer:

CP's: You get a CP at the beginning of every one of your turns. You get an extra CP if you bring along a battalion in your list; it has nothing for you to do with killing an opponents army, if that's what you're asking? You also get a CP for every 50 points you're under on the total points value of the game you're playing, IE: On a 2k game, you get 1 extra CP to start with at 1950 points or 2 extra CP to start with if at 1900, etc.

Endless Spells: Not sure what you are looking for on this, but Endless spells cost points and you can find them in the app or the warhammer community warscroll builder. You bring them along and any of your wizards will be able to cast them.

Sorry i was talking about kill points, i just finished a 4 hours game at 3 am 😂

  9. Hi guys, an important question on the rules. How do you count kill points? Like, for a warscroll battalion for exemple, to take the point of it i have to kill all the army or just the unite that belongs to the battalion?

    And for endless spell?

I tryed to look for it at the rules but i can't find it.

  10. Guys i'm going to play a 1500 pt game for the campaign we are doing against a seraphon army in the "battle for the pass" battleplan. I was thinking at this list

    Verminlord warpseer

    Arch warlock

    6x stormfiends (2 ratlings, 2 windlauncher, 2 gauntlet)

    40 clan rats

    20 clan rats

    40 monks

What do you think? My collection is pretty big (mostly skryre and pestilens) what should i add? I think my enemy will bring 3 or 4 razordonts (that scary me) and most probably a slann.

    Any suggestion?

  11. Hey guys, i started converting some jezzails from clan rats and kroot sniper, what do you think?

Shield are made in cork (later i will add some details to them with green stuff), still looking for a better option tho.P_20190306_234958_vHDR_On.jpg.9a058122a702a69f94b1260244d4ea7b.jpg

Just to be sure I played correct:

    1)

Can a unit of 40 Plaque Monks be equipped with Contagion Banner and Icon of Pestilence as well as a Doom Gong and Bale-chime?

     2)

For a unit of 40 Clanrats will 2 Bell-Ringer add 4 (instead 2) to run rolls?

    1) yes

2)no, if i'm not wrong it says "for any bell-ringer", so it does not stuck

  13. have a box of clan rats still to build, but for now i do not need them so i was thinking to convert them in 9 jezzails (using 18 of them) what you think? I do not know how to do it, one of my friends give me the krooks guns from 40k, but still do not know how to attack skaven arms on those guns and how to make shield big enough. Any suggestion?

I have the feeling that a additional vermilord may be better than a greyseer in most cases. I have to think about it to be sure. (and , BTW, the mini is amazing, plus the psychological effect on the oponent seeing more than one vermilord is just lol)

What's is your point of view?

I have a Verminlord Corruptor (from the beging, i was playing mono pestilens when aos started), a warpgnaw verminlord (summoned in the first turn from the bell my last game and was MVP) and i just bought and builded a warpseer, i think he will be my general most of my game.

  15. Guys, i thought about this for my game at 1000 pt against stormcats

Grey seer on screaming belp (general)

    plague priest on furnace

    40 monk

    40 monk

    20 monk

What do you think? I was deciding between 2 furnace or 1 furnace and 1 grey seer, and i figures out that the bell was the perfect middle i was looking for. Hoping maybe on a 12 to summon  a verminlord

It’s funny but most people will ignore him, and go for the bigger trophy, which would be in your list the plague furnace.

No they want, i played him 2 times and both times the enemy targetted him ****** hard, even with "look out sir" people want his head so bad

Remember that there is an artefact which the grey seer can make your units battleshock immune just like the screaming bell or plague furnace😉

But this means losing liber bubonicus on the furnace, and still the grey seer it's easy to kill

  18. Mmm ok than

Aye but if you take a Contagion Banner then every time he kills a rat then you get to roll a dice and on a D6 he takes a mortal wound.

Plus they only have bravery of 5, so you want as many 10s of units as you can for as long as you can so that you get the +2 to bravery for each 10 models the unit has.

Finally with 40 units you get both Overwhelming mass bonuses to re-roll and can lose 10 models before you lose only one of the bonuses. Whilst if you drop to 20 then as soon as you lose a single rat you don't get either bonus.

Whilst a large unit is easier to hit, but it has a lot more durability which for skaven is very important. Otherwise you run a high risk that the smaller units of 20 will not only get picked off, but won't have enough threat on their own to actually do much to the stormcast. Like I said units of 20 are great as a buffer, as a distraction and something to hold the enemy up for a bit; but with plague monks and clan rats they are not units that are going to do much "work" in the army. If you want your infantry to do work and kill things you really need to have big blocks of them in a single unit.

Mmmmm ok thanks, so you would say big unit. What do you say it's better, 40-40-30 with 1 furnace and a greyseer (for the magic that make me attack when i die) or 40-40-20 and 2 furnace? A double furnace will help me more with no shocking and give me more mortals, but grey seer still give a really good magic

  19. 32 minutes ago, Overread said:

@Axter for rats you want fewer bigger units in general unless you're using units to screen other units. So you want 40-40-20 with the 20 likely being used to screen one of the 40 or another unit (eg furnace). The idea being that rats get bonuses when they are in larger groups now, so you want to maximise your chance of getting as much of that bonus as you can. So you expect to take losses on your way to the enemy so you take big blocks so that as much can survive as possible.

If you take units too small you run the risk you'll get enough chipped away that you wont' get any bonus in combat; by which point the rats are purely there for a distraction/tarpit for a turn or two. That's great if they are protecting something like a furnace behind them, but its no good at all if that's your primary thrust.

The thing is i'm scared that he will set on rhe sky some storncast and set them righr back to me and charge, with all his bonus it'a pretty easy. A unit of 40 it's hard to protect from that, a unit of 20 once charged have another unit of 20 ready to revenge them, am i wrong?

  20. Guys, i'm going to play a 1000 pt game against a stormcast player, for now i can't play mixed clans becouse i'm still waiting the clan rats that i bought, so i have to go pure pestilens (maybe  agrey seer general)

My problem is: less big unit or more small units? Like 40-40-20 with 2 furnace (or 1 furnace and 1 grey seer) or 20-20-20-20-20 with 1 furnace and a grey seer?

The game will be on on "changing objective" i think it's called, the one with 3 objective right in the middle, what are yours suggestions?
