  1. I have another question. Does the Dankhold Troggoth have three head options?

Looking at the sprues it seems to me like there are three head options. But I might be wrong.

As we have seen only two options, I would be interested how the last option looks like, because I don't like the Trogboss head with the fish on the head (or whatever the thing on his head is).

Edit: If there are three head options, does anyone maybe know if there exists pictures of all versions in the new battletome or somewhere else?

It starts in your chosen corner and then turn 2 you roll to see if it moves to the next segment or not, so you do get the affects turn one. If you are unlucky though it could move off the board by turn 4 earliest.

If it moves one step a turn youll have it on board for 5 turns. Corner, centre of the tile, centre of the board, centre of the tile, corner.

Key part is "The bad moon  is located at the edge of the battlefield in the corner." its still on the battlefield just at the very edge of it.

I don't think the moon affects the battlefield when it is located in the corner of the battlefield, because of this:

"The location of the Bad Moon determines which models are affected by its light. If the Bad Moon's location" is at the edge of the battlefield, its light does not affect any units"

So the Bad Moon only affects units at the centre, in the middle or the other centre. So turn 2,3 and 4.

Because of this Skargrott's ability to make the Moon move or make it stop becomes almost necessary for Gloomspite armies. 😄

Or maybe there are also special artifacts for Gloomspite heroes to maybe stop the moon or something like that?

  3. The Gloomspite Gitz also can no longer ally with Ironjawz!

Edit: Also I am a bit confused about the Bad Moon mechanic.

Does the Bad Moon only travel in one direction and dissolves if he reaches the edge of the board  or does he move back and forth?

I thought maybe that the Bad Moon travels back if he reaches the other side of the board, because the arrow points backwards.

Also another question: How does the mechanic work with 6 board tiles instead of the 4 tiles shown in the illustration?

I always envision them being sentient and capable of speech/thought. Like a group of Freeguild are camping in a forest and it pans around to a Troggoth slowly crawling through the forest to catch some of those tasty morsels before they get to their boomsticks.

Jeah this is how I envisioned them as well.

Similar to the Trolls from the Hobbit (sorry, another LOTR reference):

But maybe a little bit less talkative than the trolls in the video.

Well they used to be sky titans back in the old lore until the ogres started nomming them! The big ironblaster the gutbusters have was one of the gargants weapons. They were once smart and civilised, not anymore. A shadow of there former selves...

Ah. Yes! I remember reading something like that in one of the old books. Either 6th edition or 8th edition.

Well a gargant is probably too drunk enough to understand using cover haha!! 🤣🤣

Maybe Gargants aren't even that dumb.  Maybe they just drink too much alcohol  all the time and this is why they are always so dumb and don't know what they are doing.

Maybe they even read Kant, Nietzsche or Adorno in the evening drinking a bottle of wine and when they have to fight they are soo drunk that they can only say things, like "Smash!" or "I want to crush things!"

Maybe Gargants are just misunderstood alcoholic philosophers.

I doubt they have done so - and it is probably rather murky even to them.

For me it is just a personal feeling sort of thing.  Eidolon of Mathlann is a magical avatar of a dead god and sort of just a big angry elf.  I could see that being considered a monster or not being considered a monster (in my mind).  To me a Troll is already a monster and a big huge one is just a bigger monster.  But it's a subjective thing.

I didn't think of Trolls as monsters, because they walk on two feet and have a humanoid shape. Also because they have some kind of intelligence (even if it is low) compared to other monsters or creatures like Maw Krushas, Stonehorns or maybe giant Squigs. Or at least I would see them as different kind of monsters compared to more animalistic monsters, which only react on their instincts.

But I find it very interesting how different the concepts of something like a monster or a creature are for different people.

Also i find it funny that even the concept "Look Out Sir!" varies from person to person. I have always interpreted this as: "Look Out Sir! There comes a projectile you have to avoid!" Similar to the one scene from the Lord of the Rings movies, where the one Ork avoids the giant boulder with one step  to the side and then spits on it.

But I guess you can also treat it as guards or armies jumping in front of their general to protect him from enemy fire.

I always pictured it as infantry protecting there hero with shields and such, forming a shield wall around them, not just yelling "Duck!!!" and hoping the general isnt stupid enough to say "what duck? i cant see any" In 8th ed, look out sir rolls would have the actual model jump infront of the shot and absorb the shot, meaning most of the time they died.

I thought of it this way, because otherwise I would have thought that the protecting unit gets some kind of damage or maybe blocks the attack. I thought it was  the general avoiding the projectiles, because the modifiers only apply to attacks against him and the protection doesn't involve  any interaction of the unit protecting the general.

  9. Also has GW ever clarified what a monster truly is?

Are only very big units monsters? Or do they have to be mindless beasts which only react on their instincts?

I also always thought the beings with some kind of intelligence (even if they are really dumb like Troggoths) don't count as monsters per se'

But I honestly have no idea what really defines a monster in the end.

  10. 6 minutes ago, Ekrund Oath Splitters said:

But could you see him getting look out sir from tiny ass gobbos? he would have to throw the whole unit at the incoming missiles to get the minus 1 to hit.

Oh. I always thought the Look out Sir! meant that some of the henchmen/units shout at at their general that he/she should "Look out for incoming projectiles" instead of the unit defending the hero.  And because of that he/she can avoid the projectiles easier.I didn't think that this means that the gobbos themselves defend against the projectiles.

And I thought monsters don't get bonusses, because maybe they can't understand or because they are too heavy to react to the "Look Out Sir!"

What does the Look Out Sir! really mean? Now I am confused. Can somebody maybe explain this to me?

Or maybe I misunderstood what was meant. I am no englisch native speaker. Maybe something was lost in translation for me. 😄

So I had put my Goblin army on hold ever since the rumors of a book started making the rounds.  I spend a lot of effort on conversions for almost every army that I play (its a tough habit to break) and my goblin army is probably my most time-intensive and all-time favorite.  I decided to wait until we had a clearer picture about what units would be in the army and any new models coming out before I went all-in again.  Now that the book is coming soon I am already getting my stuff out of storage and my hobby space prepared so that I can start as soon as the book hits.  I will probably start knocking out bases for the basic moonclan grots before that as I have a billion of them and I know they won't really change much.

I decided a while back that I would probably make a blog for it, and I think I would also like to make some tutorials for how I make cavern bases and various types of mushrooms (not just the ones that I purchase).  I spent a long time trying to figure out the best ways to theme bases as a fungal cavern and I don't mind sharing what I figured out if anyone else would be interested.

I would be interested to see different types of mushrooms and many things, tips or instructions on how to create and paint cool Gloomspitze stuff.

So I can only encourage you in doing this!

Problem is, both of those are well known to be incredibly overcosted.

Cabbage should be around 360/380 points for example.

Jeah. This is what I was talking about. I meant even though they are overcoasted, a price of 360 points isn't too high for a Trogboss.

I agree with you that the Trogboss should cost even less.

I just meant that the Trogboss isnt worth the same price as a Stonehorn for example. I mean 4 attacks with D6 damage is pretty random. You could get anything between 4 damage and 24 damage. And there is still a chance that you might miss your attack.

Compare this with a  Forstlord on Stonehorn, which attacks with 3 damage and can have 10 attacks with 3 damage if they all hit. This would be 30 damage, whereas the Trogboss can only put out 24 damage if you roll four 6s. And these are not even all of his attacks.  I just wanted to say that I don't think the Trogboss should cost so much, because in my eyes he is weaker than a  Frostlord on Stonehorn, which even has 3+ save.

I just wanted to state that I don't think the Trogboss is too overpovered and should cost too much, because even inside of Destuction there are some units who put out a lot more consistent damage compared to the Trogboss, which cost between 400-500 points. So I don't think the Trogboss is worth 460 worth points. I think point values between 250 and 380 seem to be reasonable for him. But not point values of 400-500.

  13. I don't know. I think 340-360 points would be a reasonable price for the Trogboss compared to other models. There are a lot of stronger units in the game which cost even less.  If you even compare the Trogboss with a Stonehorn or a Maw-Krusha a price of 360 still sounds reasonable. He also has only a 4+ save compared to other hero units which have a 3+ save.

I think 460 would be way too much, even with all the abilities he has.

Why would you ever use a fungoid general over Skragrott though?

    Some questions regarding "battleline Iff"

      Reveal hidden contents

Does the Dankhold Troggboss have to be the general to get battleline Troggs?

If I want to run Skragrott as my General does that preclude me from having any of the "battleline if" options?
    (Spiderfang/Troggs/Squig Hoppers)

Can a ManglerKing take Boingrot Bounders as battleline or is it Squig Hoppers only?

I'm actually really hoping it isn't. There needs to be more Megaboss style big heroes that aren't monsters!

I have to say that I don't like the Skragrott model that much.  Also I was never a fan of named heroes. I like creating my own heroes with their own backstory. A named hero instead always has some kind of backstory, which I can't influence.

This is why I like unnamed heroes more than named ones.

So the GW webstore has been updated with Gloomspite Gitz, which is currently Spiderfang and The Moonclan stuff that's not in the process of being replaced or reboxed along with the old Gitmob Shaman. So the big Grots section is gone, and as are the Gitmob grots are gone, not even listed under All Destruction anymore. Greenskinz are still there and actually have a section. It doesn't seem that they're simply not indexed either, you can't search for them and incoming links from Google go nowhere. Is GW finally getting brave enough to purge models they don't plan on supporting going forward?

Also very interesting: They put Man-Eaters and Firebellies back into the Gutbusters section. So do they plan to unite the Ogors?

I first thought they might have big plans for these factions. But this shows that they maybe did not know why they have done this.

  16. Another thing I noticed about the Boingrot Bounderz:

    AoSGloomspiteUnits-Jan4-BoingrotWarscroll54bfhas.jpg

In the article the following is stated:

    Quote

These guys are absurdly deadly on the charge  a unit of 10 will throw out 40 attacks, hitting on a 4+ and wounding on a 3+ with a Rend of -1, dealing a deluge of mortal wounds while they’re at it.

Does that mean that a box might contain 10 Squig riders or do you think GW just wanted to show the amount of damage they can put out? I just found it odd that they would talk about units of 10 if the box will contain only 5 squig riders.
