  1. Afraid I’m not able to pull the trigger on this yet due to uncertainty about moving house but if I’m able to swing it I’d love to joins you guys for some miniature oggling, can you ensure you bring your award winning army down for some added eye candy as I never got to see it due to missing Blood and Glory too.

  2. I’ve already had confirmation when I bugged you on WhatsApp but I was feeling left out so figured I best come and troll you here too.

Banning my TK was just evil, who wrote that awful text about compendium scrolls anyway?

I wonder if this has come up yet :

    - take a unit of 20x stabbas

    - hand of gork unit across board 9" from enemy

    - in the charge phase, deploy the 15x cunningly hidden fanatics within 3" of the stabba unit,  but 6" away from enemy

    - make charge roll on 6+

hopefully crash in to as many juicy bits as possible and possibly shake hands

Do the maths on the averages.  you get about 30  wounds out of that against a 4+ save.  So chances are you delete a screening unit.  If you have set your charge up right so nobody else can pile in then it's a nuicance because they don't want to charge you because you hit first again but any decent shooting & magic should do a dent, or if anyone has -1 to hit floating around they'll just take the charge and probably kill those 15w.

It's an option with a few risks (I'd add cogs into my list if going for it) but I think other armies do alpha strikes better.

  4. 2018 In summary

Played 1x2 day event, 2x1 day events and played roughly once a month.

Painted way less than usual.  About 180 models for the year.  Got in the cabinets at heat 2, so that was a big tick for me.

    2019 Plans

    • Paint up all of the models for at least one of the factions I own.
    • Sell off more of my junk (and part 1 might contribute to this as everything done on an army may make me willing to sell them!)
    • Play down the club a bit more regularly

Bear in mind this is the Generals Handbook update and Piling in is a main game rule so it's highly unlikely it will be changed. Going off what they have done previously there would be an additional rule (like the rules of one) to cause a change.

Also I agree with Ratamaplata the pile in rules are pretty good in my opinion.

I originally didn't post this to GH, it was a rules change thread that got 'tidied'.

I kinda agree that PI is tactical but not sure my proposal prevents the pinning of units from both sides etc that are the tactical part.

Keep the rule that base to base means you can't move, keep you must stay in unit coherency and actually it's how I've seen a lot of casual people play it where you just mush stuff into the unit rather than worrying about the odd couple of mm here and there for who's closest.

i saw it as a way of reducing potential conflict not removing a tactical option

  6. I'd like to see piling in tweaked.  As it currently stands it can stop you from maximising the number of models in a unit from getting into combat from a unit, it would make more sense that you had to maximise the models in your unit fighting if you pile in (just your unit not your opponents, they can sort that in their pile in).

No idea how to word that rule though, possibly just change it to must pile in towards the nearest enemy unit not model?

  7. The thing that has had me closest to a ragequit was the SCGT concept of legacy scrolls/armies.  The two armies TK and Duardin that I rebased got large chunks of them ripped out by the grand alliance books so when they suggested that would invalidate my armies I got mighty miffed.  GW have of course stated that I'm welcome to keep playing with those but the vast majority of my games in any year are at events so it was a big thing to me.

Then GW announced points as 2000pts being a standard game which has got my grumble on again, I enjoyed the streamlined simplicity of a low number pool choice for army selection.

I enjoy the game but I'm not ovelry inspired to crack on with a third new army at the moment even though we now have all the grand alliance books so hopefully I shouldn't "lose" anything else in the near future.

But I have mostly been on a watching brief with AoS since it came out (despite rebasing 2 armies!) but this is more reflective of my flighty multisystem nature.
