  1. Been thinking of this list as of now:

    Allegiance: Gloomspite Gitz
    Mortal Realm: Ghur

    Leaders
    Skragrott, The Loonking (220)
    - General
    - Lore of the Moonclans: The Hand of Gork
Loonboss on Giant Cave Squig (110)
    - Moon-cutta
    - Artefact: The Clammy cowl
    Fungoid Cave-Shaman (90)
    - Lore of the Moonclans: Itchy Nuisance
    Loonboss on Mangler Squigs (300)
    - Artefact: Gryph-feather Charm

    Battleline
    6 x Squig Herd (70)
    6 x Squig Herd (70)
    6 x Squig Herd (70)

    Units
    10 x Boingrot Bounderz (200)
    10 x Boingrot Bounderz (200)
    6 x Rockgut Troggoths (320)
    5 x Sneaky Snufflers (70)

    Battalions
    Squig Rider Stampede (140)

    Endless Spells
    Mork's Mighty Mushroom (80)
    Chronomantic Cogs (60)

    Total: 2000 / 2000
    Extra Command Points: 1
    Allies: 0 / 400
    Wounds: 138

I do like the idea of having rockgut troggoths in the list. But i'm fairly sure the list is very hero heavy.

I really want the Boogleye in my Squig list and the Shroomancer is good too even if his spell is quite short ranged, But the Scaremonger, Brewgit and Spiker do absolutely nothing for Squigs... There best use is to mess up enemies movement and claim objectives. Other than that you are essentially paying 120pts for each Wizard.... If the Scaremonger affected Squigs i would be extremely tempted, as Squigs are also sun light hating creatures. The Spiker would of been great for Boingrots and the Brewgit would buff up the crazy melee potential of the Mangler Boss.

Sadly I think they excluded Squigs as you would probably not see normal Moonclan Grots if Squigs could get the same buffs. If it werent for the superior squad size of the Goblins and the Loonshrine you would probably never see them over Squig Herd. Unless of course you like Fanatics then you need the Goblins for that.

Yeah you're most likely right. It's such a shame too, because even disregarding the neat spells, I really like the models, but I can't really justify bringing them in a (primarily) squig force.

  3. Does anyone thing it's worth bringing the gobbapalooza in a squigbased list? Boggleeye and Shroomancer seem great, but I don't think it's worth it when 3/5ths of the unit wont really help the rest of your army. Which is a shame because their models are so much fun.

The battalion bonus letting you re roll the random movement for Squigs under loonshrine is pretty great, and makes Skragrott much more important in a squig list.

Unless I'm entierly wrong, only the super battalion (Squigvalanche?) has something that needs the bad moon, But I am a bit unsure how to work that into a list

I think all lists will need stabbas, just because of the loonshrine. I dont want to and i will do a list and yet you guys know how it goes but i think the numbers they add is crucial sadly....

Yeah probably, that loonshrine's bonus is insanely strong, especially in conjunction with how well the grots receive buffs.

Your list is alittle disjointed with the snufflers, its 210pts that dont really do much in a squig build. I would either only have 1 unit or none at all, as squigs arent really benefitiing from more attacks when most of the damage comes from the MWs and dog piling everything in to an always strikes last target. Now this is really just my view but i think Squigs need Skraggrot the least out of all the subfaction.... He is great but he isnt an auto unclude for them. If you removed the 15 snufflers and him thats 430pts to get something more beneficial to Squig builds. As some one else mentioned you need to do something about thats 3 units of 6 herd, they will not hold objectives very well. You kill 1 and you have a high chance of losing more. Again i would either combine them into a big squad to go have fun with the enemies line or swap them out for more Hoppers.

The Moonface Mommet is probably not needed too, he will have a hard time catching up to the squigs and the enemy to drop the debuff on them, i would swap him out for the Fungoid. Keep Cogs as it will make the squigs quicker and maybe take morks mushroom to level the playing field vs hordes. For your backline objectives take a block of grots, they will last longer than squig herd and atleast youll get half back after.

Just my thoughts. Oh and Gryph Feather Charm instead of Clammy Cowl.

    Ah that's fair!

I really do want to bring Skragrott but I do realize that the bad moon and him by extension aren't that great f or a squig list.

I don't know, maybe i'm just being really inefficient when it comes to not bringing stabbas and not fully comitting to a squig list.

My main thought would be that your snufflers aren't going to be in range of the squig hoppers/bounders for long ,and the herds are too small to be worth the buff/survive to reach your foes. Snufflers are best paired with big blobs I reckon. If possible I'd try and amalgamate them, reduce the number of snufflers and try and get a blob of grots in.

Yeah I can get that. I might just downsize the snufflers/pile them together so i can hedge my bets on mainly buffing one unit. With that I would also be able to move that unit with ahnd of mork, to shore up the difference in movement.

  8. Hope I'm not spamming the thread or anything; but after some time fiddling with lists and with some soul searching i've come up with:

    Heroes:

    Skragrott the loon king

Loonboss on Mangler squigs w/ The Clammy Cowl

    Loonboss on Cave Squig

    Madcap Shaman w/ moonface mommet

    3x6 Squigherd

    15x Boingrot Bounderz

    2x10 squig hoppers

    3x5 Sneaky Snufflers

    Squig rider stampede

    Chronomatic Cogs

    Tot: 1990

Does this look good? I'm slightly worried that it's a bit too heavy on the RNG with the squig hoppers (go figure, right?) which could be a problem when i try to play objective holding missions and the like, since essentially the army is all hammers. I've also been thinking about switching the madcap shaman for a fungoid cave-shaman, but he can't use gloomspite magic items, so i'm a bit stumped at what to do there.

It is probably just better buffing stabbas as the snufflers dont have rend or the model count to be worth it even though there awesome looking moon sickles look nasty! 😣 Anything thats is moonclan on foot (excluding fanatics.....) have the Moonclan Grot keyword. So riding squigs and wrecking balls drops the keyword which i personally find silly but its obviously for balancing reasons again. Maybe squigs are just immune to the affects of the mushrooms and fanatics are already off there faces so i guess they cant get any more high...?

I agree with that! I still might try it because I want to run an army with a (relatively) smaller moden count, so having ANY potential recipient of those buffs sounds fun to me.

GROT keyword?  So you might be able to hide Loonsplattas in them then?

Oh I didn't even think of that! If we follow RAW then I think it'd be possible? But i'm unsure.

Most things in the book ive seen only affect the Moonclan Grots themselves like Scaremongers, Spikers, Sporesplatta Fanatics, Loonboss command ability and when reading the Sneaky Snufflers im pretty sure they were the same too. I think its GWs way of balancing it all out otherwise Fellwater trolls with like 8 attacks each would of been crazy haha!!

Yeah I know! But in this case even if snufflers affect squigs they wouldn't be able to buff troggs since they don't have the "MOONCLAN" tag!

From what I've seen the snufflers also have the GROT keyword, unlike their other squig bretheren, which means one could potentially do something rude with them and the loonboss buff stacking. Question is if that's better than just buffing stabbas, probably not.

  11. 1 minute ago, Ekrund Oath Splitters said:

I dont think the Sneaky Snufflers affect Squigs sadly, only Moonclan Grots

From what I've seen the sneaky snufflers affect "MOONCLAN" units, whilst the more specific buffs from the loonbosses affect "MOONCLAN GROTS" So I hope it'll be fine!

  12. I'm going to be starting a squig based force (perhaps with some troggoths down the line!), and I was looking at something like:

    Loonboss on mangler squig
    Skragrott the loonking

    12x Squigherd
    6x Squigherd

    5x Biongrot Bounderz
    5x Boingrot Bounderz

    5x Sneaky snufflers

    as my starter list.

Now, whilst i'm pretty sure I want to use both the mangler boss and skragrott in 2k, i'm a bit more wary about the combination in 1k, since it eats up a large part of my points.

I've also been looking at the gobbapalooza unit and their shenanigans. But the Scaremonger's inability to buff my squig units is making me think twice about taking them, even though their models are really cool.
