I just looked through the Total War: Warhammer Forum and found something interessting.

None of the armies released for AoS barring the Stormcast have had any new models released after their first wave. So it means that at least the Overlords did good enough to get green lit for more support in the future. [...]"

Has anyone heared something similar? A second wave of models for a non-stormcast army would be something new for Age of Sigmar.  Are the Kharadrons the first army to sell well enough, or are they just getting a higher priority and we get more for the older AoS armies down the line?

    TBH,

Other than the Overlords,  we have had few brand new armies. All other forces have at their core a set of older models. Which means sales will always be undermined by 2nd hand markets.

    The Blightwar booklet ?

And I really doubt the "pox walker in AOS" theme, if we get Pestigors instead... Even if plague zombies are cool in every setting !

The best solution for the Pox Walker kit, is to put out a upgrade pack that can be used with existing 40k models for them.... and then in AOS for Zombies.

I doubt it will happen but its the elegant solution.

This is the first rumor engine in a while I'll agree has a good chance of being Elven. That being said, if it is from and elf, I'd say the odds are better at it being a Shadespire squad.

Iam kinda skeptical of that.. as we have 4 other known warbands for Shadespire that dont include anything Elven. If it is Elven then it would make sense that its for AOS.

That beeing said, It could be 40K exodites, or Shadespire Stormcast bowmen.

Got some more spooky skeletons painted up, bringing me up to a round total of 80 Skeleton Warriors!

    I don't have a problem you have a problem.

Looking Good! Love to see some of the older Skeletons in the mix!  I wish I had 80 Skeletons, sounds like you need another 40 more! So that could be a problem! (For 3 blocks at max size!)

Courage, hope he will soon ! And for Shadespire : done ;)

    Other news :

Hastings said today on War Of Sigmar that : "AFAIK AoS modular scenery has been done, and is also still being done. I heard a rumour a while back now about some large fortress (hopefully not the Khorne one) and possibly siege rules."

Please be true, I want to build my own City of Sigmar !

Given the slow removal deadhold, I think it could be soon!

You can throw down your battalions in one drop (even if it is your whole army), or you can piecemeal them out. Once you do so however, you can only deploy remaining battalion units one at a time. So an eight unit battalion could be deployed all eight units at once, or four units -> one -> one -> one -> one, as an example.

You can do that? I thought it was all or one at a time? Do you have a page reference?

Echoing the above good answers, I'd add emphasis to the idea of them reducing the 'number of drops' your army is as a way to get to decide who goes first (a rule I'm on a personal crusade to get rid of as preposterously imbalanced). While you can make fine armies without a battalion, it's the exception in a competitive sense.

This is what I am trying to deduce at the momen; to build a list that will stand a chance of geting to the top tables of a major event do you need a battalion for the extra flexibility on number of drops.

It kinda feels as long as you are not paying more than 200pts for a Battalion and keeping your army so that it can be set up in less than 5 drops (Bonus if you can go to over 10), you are setting yourself up well to be able to control the flow of the game.. which is worth the points.

  8. Greetings

So I have been spending my days recently thinking about what I want my 2018 tournament army to look like for Age of Sigmar.  In all likeyhood the army will be some type of Chaos force (Probably Khorne). But I am becoming stuck; just how useful are Battalions in the current game?

I do suppose it changes from build to build, but it appears that the best preforming lists all use them.

I expect this is a matter of opinion, and depends on the faction of you’re the army? (And the Battalion..)

In the short term, but I know locally many AOS players are leaving and finding other games.   They should do something.  Silence is not the answer

That's just the cycle of the industry. In my local area they  AOS is picking up steam. And they havent been silent..  as I said they talked about the production issues to staff and it is being talked about here..

Ah well, I will get of my soap box now and let everyone get back ' to thinking the sky is falling'.

In the short term maybe, long term they risk more damage to their brand by not being open and transparent.  Regardless when the financial reports come out (since they are public) the truth will come out.

They can dress it up a lot more in the finacial reports, and hide the lack of new models behind other stats. AKA with the pile of new 40K codex's hitting shelves I dont think they will be making any less profit, which is the bottom line. By just talking about it without explaining the whole plan to keep parting us with our money, the stock takes a hit.

  11. I think it cannot be understated about the size of production problems facing GW. I have had a number of sources tell me that retail teams have been brifed on it and to expect a slow down in the release schedule for new plastics.   Major work has to be completed in the factory. As such we basically can expect one thing, More products being made in China.  So Books and Scenery Kits.  Which is basically what we have been getting the last 6 months. And the fact retail teams have been brifed makes me think we could have another 6 months of wait before the work is finished!

Still what we get now is a avalanche of products compared to 2000..

  12. Well I played my first game with Gareks Reavers this week at  my local GW store.

The game played well, the primary hurdles that needs to be overcame by the Reavers is making sure you can get an early glory point. Upgrades to improve damage is very important! The stormcasts are able to one shot most of the Reavers , it takes time for us to do the same. And landing them with a lot of hits is a good way to make them inspired.

So you need to pick a guy to be the target of the buffs use the other reavers to screen him, and work hard on getting as many objectives in round one!  At the start of the game skip ones that require you to kill anyone, securing objectives in the first round is good.

Once you have the glory then you can focus on takeing out one of the golden boys, focus the whole warband one at a time.

well they are my intial thoughts.

Didn't the Kharadron Overlords come out this year as well?  I seriously don't remember, but I do know that it was a cold rainy day when I picked up my copy of their Battletome, so it was before this summer.

Kharadron Overlords, Blades of Khorne, Stormcasts..

    Thats it right?

  14. The kit I have been wanting to use for some Nurgle/undead types is the Warriors of Dead kit from the Lord of the Rings Game. https://www.games-workshop.com/en-US/Warriors-of-the-Dead. With a pair of clippers, a steady hand and some greenstuff you have the chance of making something that looks fairly cool. I personally have had success in using bits from the Crypt Ghouls kit... bellow cut is a terrible picture of a conversions I made using the kit.
