Digital is normally not allowed in tournaments due to the What If scenario of everyone running out of batteries and not enough chargers

But if you take the time to print the relevant pages from the copy you bought from Digital, iBooks or whatever, wouldn’t that be ok?

Well, some random musings after a post-COVID 20 players tourney (using GHB19 rules) and GHB20.

+ Battlelines scoring extra points in battleplans:

    * MSU is death:

After doing a quick check up it seem that only 1 of 12 new battleplans allows battleline units to score extra points.

Writing off MSUs and start mass building Reapers because of this seem a little bit rushed. However there are 3(or 4 maybe?)  plans that allows extra points for Leaders so that might come in our favour (if our heroes get to live long enough).

  3. So FINALLY my GHB landed today and maybe Im being a bit too optimistic but I find the Auxilliary objectives very intriguing in our favour.

Sure this should be tested well before giving a full opinion but from the looks of it it seem like it might actually work to plan for a draw just to outmanouver the opponent and go for a minor victory gained from Auxilliary Objectives.

    Don’t you agree?

At first glance it seem like the Aux Obs on the images would suit us well. Depending on the situation and opponent.

I know I am probably reading to much into this image, but that skull looks like it has vampire fangs.

Man I so want that to be true.. If Soulblight is on its way Ill be one happy, but broke, camper. Honestly don’t care much for vampires but a full fledged Soulblight army means ZOMBIES Deadwalkers or whatever. Im Really seriously supercallafra... something looking forward to see GWs take on zombies. The few corpse bits and zombies pulling the Corpsekart is just a tease of how awesome a new bunch of zombies would be. I’ll build that messy army in an instant, even if it had to be lead by some boring, slickhaired Twilligt Clone.

Thoughts regarding your very fine piece of strategic aid.
Keep in mind I have yet to find the time to really dig into the guide without having my kids jumping on my head while Im trying to read and comprehend. So my suggestions are based on the fact that I might have missed quite a lot indeed🙂

    - For people that have English as a second language (like myself) it would be awesome if the guide somewhere down the line could have pictures with examples of the specific tactics example. I had a bit of a hard time visualizing how the Envelope is supposed to work.  Im not talking great pieces of art, just simple paintbrush made boxes and arrows representing setups and situations.

    - Its a really nice Document you are making there. Turning it i to a final goodlooking PDF would be very nice. Will probably doit myself if its not in your plans. Just to have it close by when needed. And needed it is.

    - would it make sense to make a section about dealing with specific enemyfactions? Like the do’s and don’ts when fighting ...

Again sorry mate if some of my suggestions indicate I havn’t yet read the guid thouroghly. Either way great work. Stuff like this make it funnier to keep fighting those uphill battles.

Let me rephrase it for you: This GHB was an opportunity to give GW a reason to ban LoG from Matched Play.

Yeah, maybe so but why would they do that? It makes very little sense to me what reasons there are for removing LoG and the WD battalions for NH.

As a matter of fact the only resin I could see is if a new NH tome is coming out soon and I do not dare to hope so.

Warscroll builder was updated today and includes the NH battalions from White Dwarf, so I would assume those are usable still despite not being in GHB 2020, otherwise I do not know why they would update Warscroll builder with those battalions and their points.

Thanks mate, but I am not sure that is validating since WSB has been known to forget stuff and make mistakes. Like they already did on the new updates. Note, according to WSB we can no longer pick deathlords as allies. Thankfully the GHB disagree.

To be fair for some of the armies I don't think there is any reason to update points. For instance, Tzeentch and KO only saw a couple of events and those were before they got the release errata. Seraphon hasn't seen any I don't think. Personally I would delay updating their points until Dec 2020.

Also how many people are actually playing regular matched play right now? There are no immediate tournaments, most shops are still closed for gaming. There is no desperate need for balance updates.

I think I speak for all Nighthaunt players when I say we are very much looking forward to that FAQ. Not because of our points but because we might loose some of the only descent aggressive battalions we got just six month ago. In addition we might also loose the option to play Legion of Grief. Nothing indicates how GW are going to handle these and as you hopefully agree the Nighthaunt is in a very tight spot already we seriously do not need to loose some of the few tools we have that occasionally works. Not looking for sympathy here but GW guys seriously.. Wtf are you doing?

  9. Whats also rather interesting.

According to a leak on FB  there is a section of the matched play values in the GHB called Additional Pitched battle profiles.
It contains a bunch of semi legal profiles. Such as GOS w. Mortality Glass.

From what is said this stuff might not be legal on the tournement scene but will be fair game in locl friendly games.

Now to me that is very good news especially as I were already planing to add the Mortality glass ghost to my anti Fyreslayers list.

I can't find it again for the life of me. Now I'm doubting my own memory. 🤔

Honestly I hope I remembered that wrong and we're in for a surprise points drop (grasping for straws here, but yall NH players understand)

    [EDIT]
I have now seen the GH page and Mourngul costs indeed 270 (-10) now.

Yeah I saw it on FB as well

Can we expect any changes to warscroll profiles (such as buffing some units) from the GH20 or the changes are usually point cost oriented?

Well predicting GW paterns can be a dangerous thing to do but if the GHB 2020 changes any warscrolls it would not only be the first time in the history of the Generel Handbook* it will also happen in the FAQ section or maybe just on the app since we already officially know the contents list of the book.

*However now would be a fine time for bold warscroll changes since (almost) all factions are out. But I highly doubt it.

Note I do know that the GHB 2017 had a updated warscroll for Grunstok Thunderes but never before more after have the GHB contained new warscrolls.

The artifact changes refer to the new Realm rules. Instead of the full Malign Sorcery list, in every game one Realm has to be chosen and there's only one artifact that can be taken from there.

But are we sure that the only realm artifacts remaining are the single ones attached to each realm?

    To sum up.

Assuming the points posted on Fb (those I posted here) are true.

    - We (probably) loose the Emerald Host, Dolourous guard and such.

    - We loose sword of Judgement and The Aetherquatz.

    - We gain a few point drops but not more than it might provide an extra 100pts tops for most 2000pt lists.

    - Auxilliary objectives might come in handy for us helping us avoid some of the unwinneable melees we often have to face especially in battleplans with 1-2 objectives.

    - We still don’t know if the Mourngul goes down.

    - We still don’t know if the new battleplans somehow turn stuff in our favour.

I gotta say im sceptical as f.... but hopefully GW has some kind of magic trick for us course if they’re telling me that the army that was fresh and new exactly two years ago is near unplayable now and the first and only hard battalion we got just 6 month ago is already washed down the drain Im gonna have some hard times finding words that wont get me thrown out of most restuarants😉. Not gonna nerdrage yet but seriously people, even Iphones don’t become obsolete that fast. Lorewise we are still suppose to be a part of the great threat against the mortal realms.

They are changes from the battletome. The asterisk represents when the points value are not what they are in the battletome.

Im pretty sure that the asterisk just means that points have been changed since the last GHB or bttletome. In case of the Blck Coach and some of the other mentioned units, they had their points changed about six month ago during the big FAQ thats realeased six month prior to the next GHB. However since none of these changes has been bookpublished they have the asterisk to let us know that something has happend since the last Ghb. Even though this is old news.

Yeesh, I'm really disappointed the Emerald Host battalions got dropped. My list revolved around The Dolorous Guard.

Wait what now?! Are you sure that Dolorous Guard is out? I just assumed that WD material never gets included in the books, despite still being officially legal?

Kinda the same thing goes for FW stuff like the Mourngul.

  15. NH Pointchanges are out on the NH Facebook Group. Guess I can’t post pic, but this is whats up.

    GOS dwn. 10

    Kurdoss dwn 20

    Dreadscythes dwn 10

    Hexwraith dwn 10

    The condemmed dwn 10.

    Briar Queen dwn 20.

No mention of Emerald Host battalions

So well I guess its something, but I doubt its gonna make much of a change.

  16. Salt incoming

So after getting another servere punishing today, this time against Seraphon, I must say that it’s starting to get at my nerves just a wee bit. Not long ago in my local meta I used to win a bunch of games, not sure exactly how many, but more than I would loose. However after all (more or less) tomes got updated Im having a really hard time getting a fighting chance against most enemies.

It feels like they have a lot of utility tools to pick from their strategy box, while NH are stuck with some very unreliable powers at best. If we end up playing a battleplan with few objectives then im halfway done before the game begins, since my opponent always just sits tight on them and force me into a combat  I can’t control or win. Like today when we played the Total Comitment Battleplan and the Seraphon player had a ton of bubblewrap skinks and such to keep Lord Kroak and another Slaan safe while they rained magical massdestruction down on me. I couldn’t provide enough dispelling. I couldn’t catch the Slaans  who are way better at teleporting than NH. I could leave a huge gap in the back to put some pressure on the Slaans but it would take a lot of effort and put even more spell nastyness in my face.
alright to be fair, if I knew that he would be playing the Slaan/summoning list, I think I could build against it, however the next time I meet him he might be playing a monster list og Saurus list or something completely different, since he has so many options to choose from. On the other hand he always knows most of the tricks he can expect from me.

It seems that most armies does what we do but better and the armies thats incapable of doing so, does a very effective job sniping our heroes instead.

Is playing Nighthaunt these days just Warhammer on hard mode?

Im really wondering if Auxellery Objectives might provide some higher odds for NHs in games with 1-2 objectives.

The irony is that Legions of Nagash (any flavour will do, but particularly Sacrament and Grand Host) can deal quite effectively with Fyreslayers but feeding them endless tides of summonable units which get thoroughly butchered every turn but that can also be brought back the turn after, while some heavy hitters deal with the buffing heroes.

What about Legion of Grief? With Harbingers taking the role as the hardhitters?

Also, I know this come off as quite noob, but Im not sure what exactly MSUs means?

    Anyway thanks for the pointers.

Doing the filth list might work also. But why didn’t you mention Dreadscythe Harridans in that? They have a natural -1 if you can lower the Bravery.
